Anyone remember "World Monuments'? Easily my favorite Queen game
nope
We have that one, it's fun!
It's a testament to how strong their catalog is that: Fresco, Lancaster, Amerigo, Chicago Express, Kingdom Builder, Rune Stones, Edo, Greed, Queen's Architect and Pioneers is as plausible of a top 10 as Tom's list.
My favorite is one I knew for sure Tom wouldn't put on his list - Kingdom Builder. It's a really neat puzzle to solve. And there's also Greed - that too doesn't get any buzz whatsoever, just like Franchise at Tom's #10. But it should.
Do you also prefer it to 'Winter Kingdom'?
Kingdom Builder with expansions is by far Queens best game.Hands down winner!!!
@@nshaw1299 Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to try Winter Kingdom yet. But I suspect that I would - from the rules it seems like it'll be a bit too convoluted.
Agreed, Kingdom Builder is exceptional and my favorite from Queen by far.
I really like Fresco, I like the theme, it is easy to introduce to newer players. And Fresco is good enough where Jaime from Stonemaier has even said he took the wake up mechanic directly from Fresco and put it in Viticulture.
(edit : removed one game from mention)
I think mystery of the abbey was days of wonder...
@@eliumeldritch You are correct. was looking over at the shelf, and more typed the wrong item for that 2nd mention
1. Shogun
2. Kingdom Builder
3. Lancaster ;)
Pioneers is easily my favourite queens games game. Love the theme and simple but deep gameplay. Plus the cowboy meeples are adorable
Love this type of content. Thanks Tom!!
Sad to see fresco miss the list, oh well .
Franchise is incredible. Played it for the first time at Dice Tower Retreat Orlando, and was able to trade for it later on and have had success showing it to people. It is a little complicated but if people are more or less familiar with hobby gaming, the game is a hit. Also reminds me of Carnegie, also illustrated by Ian O'Toole, weirdly enough.
Luxor is up there for me, my first impression when playing it was so positive that it’s one of those games I distinctly remember learning and playing for the first time, the hand management system is cool.
There are a good amount of Queen's games I've not played but the ones I've enjoyed, I enjoy immensely. Merlin is amazing, Lancaster, Fresco, Shogun, Alhambra, Amerigo, Chicago Express, etc. Really want to try Rune Stones, Franchise and Kokopelli.
Love Shogun!
Wow no Fresco, super surprised by that
I'd for sure have fresco and lancaster near the top of this one...
Wow, I only own Thebes and Shogun from the list but Shogun is my no.1 as well.
Franchise is just awesome. Pioneers probably my favorite not listed and my daughter's favorite is parfum.
fresco! It’s pretty fabulous with two players since each player gets to alternately manipulate Leonardo, the dummy player. He’s simple and fun to use!
My favorite is Samarkand: Routes to Riches, followed by Chicago Express and German Railways.
I think Queen's Architect is a very under-rated and awesome game.
For sure I was expecting classic King Domino, but anyway, I have and like Treasure Hunter but was not aware it came from Magic the gathering creator.
What I also notice is that all covers (except #1) have the same template. Nice consistency! Thanks for the list!
Really want to try his #1. Franchise is a very underrated game. Wanting to play it more as I own it and got the Queenies to boot. But my favorite is probably Luxor, though I am starting to cool on it a bit. Still a lot of fun.
Tom Vasel’s rating of World Monuments was so positive, I’m surprised it’s not on the list!
No mention of rune stones ? That’s definitely one of our most liked Queen games!
Fresco is my fav!
I'd say my favorite Queen game is Lancaster! There are just so many tense decisions in this game, such as deciding how many squires to add to your knight placement. Because if someone kicks you out of that placement, you lose all those squires! But I think I enjoy the voting mechanism most of all in this game. Acquiring additional votes in a round and using all of them to pass a law that only favors you is such an amazing feeling. Love this game!
Lancaster is such an unsung gem.
Lancaster has been out of print for AGES. It's not unsung or hidden gem it's just that people don't have the chance to play it.
I do like Chicago Express (THE cube railgame (traingame) to start with), Lancaster, Edo, Samarkand: Routes to Riches, Paris Connection, Bargain Hunter (trick taking game), Granada (Alhambra 2.0) and the unknown heavier one Kohle and Kolonie. I am interested in Franchise.
So the top games are heavy euros based on a pure lock mechanism in the cube tower?
The omission of Rune Stones, Fresco, Kingdom Builder (Big Box), and Luxor makes my heart cry.
Why? You can love those games! It's my list, not yours. :)
@@thedicetower Haha, you asked which ones we'd put up there. :)
Are you going to do a Top 10 Queen kids? I only own one and it’s from that one. ENUK
Some great games here, but I would have Fresco, Luxor, and Kingdom Builder somewhere in here too (but I know Tom doesn’t like Kingdom builder).
My family absolutely loves Luxor!
Queen games has a very nice catalog and good production quality.
I like Fresco but my favourite has to be Lancaster. Which other game has players voting on what the rules are during the game?!
Fresco is my favorite.
I
Of these I like Shogun the best. I might like Amerigo more than Shogun? Or maybe about the same. I guess I’ll just have to play them both again.
I would add Chicago Express and Luxor to my top.
Rune Stones is probably my favourite Queen game.
No Lancaster?!
Number 11
@@thedicetower almost forgivable then 😉
What is the consensus on Lost Legends? Do people like this game? Does it hold up?
Like many Queen games, in my opinion, it is okay, but other games do it better.
Escape zombie city should have been higher on this list, a great game to teach and play
Love Escape ❤️
Wow I was surprised by number 10. I saw the Kickstarter but passed by it and honestly never heard much about it after. Out of all the many Queen games to make into his top ten is quite a feat!
For me the best Queen game is Pioneers
I like Kingdom Builder.
No Fresco, No Lancaster, No Queen's architect??? Queen games have a brilliant collection.
Chicago Express
I am a huge fan of Thebes: The Tomb Raiders - the card game version of the more well known game that improves on the original. I don't understand why Queen seems to have barely/never promoted this version and seemed to bury it right after an initial print run.
Great list. I gotta say, rune stones is a fantastic game from this publisher. No mention of it here. Not sure if Tom has played it.
*edit* he has, and has done a review.
Good list but then there's Rune Stones, Fresco and Luxor, with or without expansions.
No Rune Stones. Aww.
Kingdom Builder is my favorite, but I knew Tom wouldn't mention that one as he didn't like it. I also like Winter Kingdom a lot, which I thought he might've included, but it must've missed his top 10. I also enjoy Luxor, which I think is another game Tom didn't care for.
Again with the 2 second clips of what the games actually look like. Same thing in the library shelf videos. Please show what the games look like for a longer time .
I have heard of none of these 😅
I will never not takea crap on Queen games for their absoutelty awful Kickstarter campaigns with the worst community management you can imagine plus worst value propo imaginable. Never again. Never. They are only eclipsed by AEG's Deck Reckoning campaign which was historic in its awfulness
Yeah, poorly titled video. These aren’t the 10 best, just Tom’s favorites.
Poor mainly because he left out Queens best game!!!
If you under an impression there is a neutral metric on how to measure what game is best, you appear to be rather mistaken.
@@ShaderF You're correct. However, BGG is pretty the bench mark for games ranked. As it's never just 1 person ranking it,rather 1000s(min 30), plus dummy rankings. Also, it gives a better, general overall impression of a game, rather than simply one person.
So, I am not mistaken as my comment was based on logic, average rating over 1000s of ratings and not just one very subjective viewpoint.
@@awakecommonman5291 then go on bgg and look at Queen's publisher page. There's no point in Tom just making a video of that.
@@soogymoogi You are correct! It was pointless Tom making this video. Not only because he missed some out some fabulous Queen games, but also because he is misguiding people keen to discover and play the best and most popular Queen games.
queen games, hahahahaha. all over priced.
