The "Goodbye, Dead Cousing Ted" song sounds like the "Ave Maria" song. It is not the only song in this soundtrack that was slightly altered to make it look different enough.
Yeah the human show was such an amazing puzzle. It seems not even Tim schafer can live up to the legacy of these games. But again its not a suprise, because i think the quality, humor of these games was because of the team behind them at lucas arts. I just dont think this will ever be topped. I mean even the music i love every single song in this game, i can count that times that has happened in my entire life, be it, from game, movie, album whatever. The music at 51:30 always makes me so sad. Ted was so awesome, helped saved the freaking world, and he has been dead for who knows how long. Always kinda hoped there would be a sequel prequel something to get to see the live ted. My favorite edison amen.!.
"I'm the model, should I take my clothes off now?" "No! No, you most certainly should not. We couldn't get your body shape right anyway, unless we cemented two slabs of marble together. But then your statue would have a big seam in it." "That's ok, it'd have one anyway." "I'm sure that's terribly amusing...where you're from. Where exactly DID you come from?" "The future. .....Kinda spooky soundin' ain't it? Ooooooh I'm from the future, look out!"
"Oh great. I'm stuck in Colonial times, tentacles are taking over the world, and now the toilet's backing up." "Hoagie!! Come here, Hoagie! It's your old pal, Dr. Fred!" "Dr. Fred? How'd you get in there?" ... "You really flushed them!" "YES!!" "Down the toilet." "NO!! THROUGH TIME!!! Using the highly sophisticated vortex chamber I've installed in each Chron-O-John, you can flush smal inanimate objects to each other through time!" *...flush small inanimate objects to each other through time!* "Hello?? Dr. Fred, can you hear me? .....Drat!"
Loved this game and the days when games had no life realistic graphics just a great story, fun characters and music that you would whistle to yourself for years...
Btw remember to keep an eye on projects like, Return of the Tentacle. and NIght of the meteor, both are games made by fans in the Maniac Mansion universe. hopefully they will be released some day.
I love how at 1:06:29 (The Purple Army) starts with basically a medley of all the main characters' themes. =) (Hoagie, Laverne, Bernhard, Fred and Purple)
You can actually hear _missing bits of music_ here and there. God the Soundblaster did such a better job than General MIDI, or even the Rolands, ever could.
+Danny Arof This is cool but, please, play it yourself. Don't just look others play it, it's much funnier to actually play it without a walkthrough! Sorry, I come from the 80s, I might sound weird.
That's impossible. I had to watch a walkthrough cause it's just so hard to figure stuff out like knowing flushing the spaghetti will make it soft, logically it's right but in game you flush paint, letters, paper, electronic stuff and other things without being affected so it's not as clear when to use logic and when cartoon laws work. The best and only reason to play it yourself to me is to test everything on everyone like the disappearing ink. The best on is using it on the pranking guy who made it and using the book on thermal dynamic flux induction circuit design on everyone, yes I used it so many times over and over that I remember every fucking line possible with it. So finding new dialogue in Day Of The Tentacle to me is like finding a game changing exploit or strategy in a popular multiplayer games for everyone
i'm spanish, and i remember lot's of dialogues of this game but at the time i did not understand anything (i was 12) . Its weird how now all those sounds make sense :D
"Behold! My latest invention! I call it, the Frank-O-Copter!" ".....That's a kite, Ben, they've been around for hundreds of years." "Oh sure, as toys! But this one is a letter to the gods! It says, 'Dear Thor, just one drop of your mighty juice in the hands of a genius like me could illuminate the entire world! Love, Ben." "I hope you wrote it in Swedish so Thor could read it. Or were those guys Norwegian?"
I loved this as a kid, even though I missed a lot by not understanding the language well & not getting all the references. At least I learned something about the American history! (sort of :D). Btw., "Tentacle Disco" seems to be heavily inspired by "Chameleon" by Herbie Hancock. :-o
44:47 God save our gracious queen, long live our noble queen, God save the queen, send her victorious, happy and glorious, long to reign over us, God save the queen! I used to wonder why that tune played in Colonial times, but then I learned "my county 'tis of thee' has the same tune as my county's anthem.
RMJ1984 Me too! Although I think it was a bit difficult (bizarre) for me, I don't recall it that well but I think I had to find a walk-through to win the contest XD
GEMSanGEMS Hahaha. True. I remember getting stuck with Laverne on the tree... (Red paint, Ax, etc.). And the American flag/costume. But everything was brilliant.
Manuel Herrera Ah glad you had fun with it! I'm being a bit harsh on judgement so don't mind me. I do remember the human show too, such a strange game! + Lots of exploration to do!
The sad part of the game. 0:51:32 even thought Ted has been dead for god only knows how long, he helped save the world. Gotta admit i gotta pretty emotional.
I mean the in-game versions are midi files but these are ...like...orchestrated. So I'd like to know if they made an orchestrated version of Dwayne's Theme, too.
fsilv er well, yeah. in those days, point'n'click adventures were just tossed into the RPG category, or sometimes the very vague "adventure" category. Sierra's variety of 'quest' franchises were advertised as RPGs, so that's probably the reason.
+Generic Internetter It's probably due to the fact that the Quest for Glory franchise from Sierra actually had many RPG components. It basically WAS a hybrid between a graphic adventure and an RPG.
I want a game combining the amazing out of the box fantasy creativity of the Rayman trilogy, the atmosphere and unique variety of Psychonauts, the humor and puzzle logic in this game, the level of innovative use of music, gameplay and heart wrenching plot and game of Mother 3, the characters like from Mary Poppins or Land Before Time among many classics, a vast variety and quantity of content different from each other like early TF2 weapons, the musical genius of To The Moon,, HOMM 3-4 The Dig, heavy metal melodies, electro swing, OFF, Undertale and the smooth, the amazing world building view of Journey and The Dig and responsive controls of Rayman 2, Super Mario 64, Dust An Elysian Tail, Super Meat Boy and Overgrowth. But sadly just doing the first thing is impossible without the first idiots screaming: FAIRIES BUT WITH HATS WHO ARE PUNK ROCKERS! Writer: Such genius so much to go from that. Creative director: perfect, just like that. Me: Why did it have to be a fairy and a punk rocker? They're already made up. Creative Director: Well what do YOU think off then? Me:..... hold.my.*beer*
Why do the General MIDI versions of these tracks sound so bad? Some are totally out of tune. I always preferred playing with the FM Synthesis, even although it sounded much more basic.
David Mackenzie Maybe it's because those audio files where supposed to run on about 25 year old machines? They're 8 bit, so not much room for precision there...
David Mackenzie maybe the voices they used were tuned differently, like had weird harmonics or resonance that sounded in key rather than the actual default note sounding in key.
They are AT LEAST 16 bit, so that's nonsense. If you want to hear what an actual 8 bit audio device sounds like, then go and listen to some Atari 2600 sounds. Even way back as far as the Commodore 64 sound was 16 bit.
OH sweet nostalgia I'm a teen and I know about this game ever since my dad showed me it when i was a kid and now I want to replay it and also have the remastered cause reasons also have you considered getting a soundcloud account SPOST
The "Goodbye, Dead Cousing Ted" song sounds like the "Ave Maria" song. It is not the only song in this soundtrack that was slightly altered to make it look different enough.
in 51:33 in Goodbye Dead cousin Ted. I can feel the Ave Maria XD I was too young to notice back then.
I'm pretty sure "Red Edison" is responsible for my love for baroque, especially cembalo music. Well played, DOTT and songwrites.
Yeah the human show was such an amazing puzzle.
It seems not even Tim schafer can live up to the legacy of these games.
But again its not a suprise, because i think the quality, humor of these games was because of the team behind them at lucas arts.

My favorite edison amen.!.
51:30 sounds like a riff on Ave Maria by Schubert
"I'm the model, should I take my clothes off now?"
"No! No, you most certainly should not. We couldn't get your body shape right anyway, unless we cemented two slabs of marble together. But then your statue would have a big seam in it."

LOL
Todays reponse Fat shaming!!!!!!!
"Oh great. I'm stuck in Colonial times, tentacles are taking over the world, and now the toilet's backing up."

Istvan Bally hyper realistic graphics are overrated
Amen

I love how at 1:06:29 (The Purple Army) starts with basically a medley of all the main characters' themes. =) (Hoagie, Laverne, Bernhard, Fred and Purple)
I just finished the remastered version! Awesome game! Brings back a lot of memories!
You can actually hear _missing bits of music_ here and there. God the Soundblaster did such a better job than General MIDI, or even the Rolands, ever could.
Yeah, I see. As said in the description, the midis were all mixed by HighLand Productions. Sadly, they didn't include Dwayne's theme.
Never knew this game existed until I started watching Sips play it. Such an amazing game, especially when magnificent bastard plays it.
😀👍
+Danny Arof This is cool but, please, play it yourself. Don't just look others play it, it's much funnier to actually play it without a walkthrough! Sorry, I come from the 80s, I might sound weird.

@@magnusm4Actually, you could find out about the spaghetti by just flushing everything, like I did when I was stuck. I didn't need a walkthrough.
i'm spanish, and i remember lot's of dialogues of this game but at the time i did not understand anything (i was 12) . Its weird how now all those sounds make sense :D
ted is red
see red ted
"Behold! My latest invention! I call it, the Frank-O-Copter!"

God, does this bring back memories. Thank you.
During the first ten minutes, you can find some motivs of Monkey Island 2's OST, the ones related to Largo LaGrande I think :D
😯
This game is so good !
Yes, I like too the Ned & Jed theme, sounds like classical music to me!
I loved this as a kid, even though I missed a lot by not understanding the language well & not getting all the references. At least I learned something about the American history! (sort of :D).
Btw., "Tentacle Disco" seems to be heavily inspired by "Chameleon" by Herbie Hancock. :-o
Wow these truly sound great! longer and richer than those in the actual game! thx!
44:47 God save our gracious queen,
long live our noble queen,
God save the queen,
send her victorious,
happy and glorious,
long to reign over us,
God save the queen!
I used to wonder why that tune played in Colonial times, but then I learned "my county 'tis of thee' has the same tune as my county's anthem.
#1 favorite game ever. Thank you for posting this.
I love this game. I played it in SCUMMVM once, and it was so fun.
you're welcome, and good luck to your company!
bring us some adventure games, guys!
Great game, great OST... RIP Lucas Arts... fuck Disney :(
Praise Disney!
LucasArts was, for all intents and purposes, dead long before Disney took over.
xnightshadyx literally reduced to a licensing office some time before
+LordKowen They didn't need Disney to die; they killed themselves with a long doses of "Star Wars licensees to death".
LordKowen Lucas Arts who had created a game didn't develope any good game from 2003.It was Indiana Jones.So...
30. The Human Show (1:00:10)
Most epic beauty pageant EVER! Hahaha
Clown Laugh + Spaghetti Hair + Horse Smile = WIN! XD
I really loved that whole puzzle / contest.
RMJ1984 Me too! Although I think it was a bit difficult (bizarre) for me, I don't recall it that well but I think I had to find a walk-through to win the contest XD
Manuel Herrera "Ha. Ha. Ha."
7:34 - You can briefly hear the march played when Indy meets Hitler in Last Crusade!
The soundtrack to my childhood.
Eventually, somebody will rip the MIDI files from the game and post the raw ones online, instead of MP3ified like here.
been done
bh617 Correct, that.
The purple army actually sound kinda like lechuck's theme in some way and in some parts
01:07:45
01:08:03
01:11:03
This game championed the cartoon/humour RPG genre.
+Generic Internetter rpg?
fsilv er well, yeah. in those days, point'n'click adventures were just tossed into the RPG category, or sometimes the very vague "adventure" category.
Stan's Previously Owned Soundtracks and QFG3 was the first game I ever purchased with my own money ;)
+Generic Internetter you've earned my respect, mate! :D
It's...it's...IT'S PERFECTTTTttt!!!!!111

Creative Director: Well what do YOU think off then?
Me:..... hold.my.*beer*
@Trawies It would be enough turning off voices and sound fx. I'll be honest, I'm lazy to do it now. But I will, sooner or later.
Is there a name for the Ned and Jed Edison song? It sounds like classical music, after years I'm searching for its name. Help please :)
you are missing one ! - where is Elevator Classics - Snuckey's Greatest Hits Volume 4 ????
@Trawies true. Perhaps replacing the sound files with silence?
Why do the General MIDI versions of these tracks sound so bad? Some are totally out of tune. I always preferred playing with the FM Synthesis, even although it sounded much more basic.
David Mackenzie It sounds like it's being performed on a cheap keyboard by a bunch of schoolkids. Adlib Soundtrack 4 Life!
David Mackenzie It depends on the Midi Card you installed. If you had a god one the Sounds are better. :-)
They are AT LEAST 16 bit, so that's nonsense. If you want to hear what an actual 8 bit audio device sounds like, then go and listen to some Atari 2600 sounds. Even way back as far as the Commodore 64 sound was 16 bit.
41:01 is my favorite cue.. the guy sneaking around breaking into the car
"Thank God you weren't THAT stupid....did you say BERNARD?!?"
"What have you done this time, you meddling milquetoast?"
this game cracked me up as a kid
OH sweet nostalgia I'm a teen and I know about this game ever since my dad showed me it when i was a kid
and now I want to replay it
and also have the remastered cause reasons
also have you considered getting a soundcloud account SPOST
awesome!
Look forward to that :)
❤❤❤❤thank you sooo much🥲
I would love to have the original game versions, not the mixed ones
2:10-2:30 Ah, another Peter McConnell track. I'd recognize those flourishes anywhere.
Well.. This sounds a lot better than my software emulation .. :)
It's missing at least 1 audio track. the exact one i came here searching for....
The suicidal travelling salesman room?
But I don't know how to record from the computer
I want to give a New Look to Stars and Stripes again..
Instant sub the minute I saw your avvy
So many memories. I can't believe I threw a hampster in the microwave to warm it up...
This game is my 2nd favorite ever made
Which one's #1?
Stan's Previously Owned Soundtracks super Mario 64
RIP Lucas Arts
20:27 the best one.
Wasn't Green Tentacle's band called "Green T And The Sushi Platter"? (not splatters in plural)
thats was the last art made since 90s after that the world enter in a cultural collapse
Who wins, purple or lechuck?
Pffft, LeChuck? What a pushover.
(He's not behind me, right?)
I prefer the bleepy-bloopy adlib version
I prefer the adlib versions of all the Lucasarts games!
Frustrates me that it's not on UA-cam. I could have sworn it used to be.
Yeah, alright.. Cool, thanks :)
Oh yeah sure, that's good :)
Why is Dwayne's Theme not included in this? Scandal!
Oh god, I remember… THE HUMAN SHOW 😂😂😂
Do you know if that song has a name? sounds really great, like classical music, and I've been searching for that song for years
I had different music on my pc
"Debussy"
Is there even a soundtrack version of it?
How hard is it, seriously, to just record the music as you play through the game from a line-out? NOT that hard. SOMEONE has to have done it!
What do you mean?
Ha. Ha. Ha.
Is it just me or does this not sound like Peter and the Wolf?
I have searched for the OST of the ORIGINAL game, and NOT THE REMASTERED!
Please correct the title! Thanks!
This is not the remastered version. It's an orchestrated version of the original. Nothing to correct I'm afraid.
0:30 I'm thirsty
49:59
Well, whaddaya know... you're right. I admit I'm ashamed.
Which midi device or sound font?
"I only listen to real classical music:"
Not that easy, with all the talking and sounds.
41:01
Nice trick!
I don't much care for this version. Even if it fills in the blanks that the MIDI versions left, I feel as if it has much less charm.
This is a rip off of plants vs zombers
SirJigglypuff 1) it's plant vs zombies
2) this game came out in 1993.
Better luck next time.
How did this actually work
SirJigglypuff you must be a young kid who hasn't done his homework. This game came out probably before you were even born.
And you must be someone who takes UA-cam comments way too seriously ;)))
NeonJigglypuff you fool
