Amazing reviews Tom! Even though this is from 7 years ago, I'm in the market for this car and this video helped a ton! Definitely earned a subscription, thanks for the video!
Awesome car, great engine and good handling. A bit congested back seat and a little uncomfortable on uneven roads, probably due to the 19" low profile tires. The bottom line, an awesome sports coupe (gran).
Hmm, I really prefer the design of the 4 series coupe. this one looks too big on it's wheels... And gosh dang these are cheap in US vs how they sell in EU!
There's rumors that BMW will make a Grand Coupe version of the 2 series. So basically if you think the current 3 series is too big and you long for the days of old school BMW 3 series sedan, the rumored 2 series Grand Coupe might fit your needs. But aw heck, just give us the 1 series 5 door hatch currently available in Europe!!!
Driven Car Reviews Does your wife still have the Soul? I remember that video. Can we expect a long-term update? Could be useful since the new generation Soul has a lot of carry-over stuff.
***** The long term update is that the Soul has run perfectly except for a flat tire. It's been exactly what she wants. The new Soul is quite different but word is they are quite trouble free, just like nearly every car on the road these days.
+n777ua "Gran Coupey' is the original, therefore the correct pronunciation. I don't understand why all Americans refuse to call it that way. P.s - No offence to you personally, Tom.
+BlackWind None taken. People in different countries pronounce things differently. The US in general pronounces it "coop", not coo-pay. Just came from a Jaguar press conference where they call aluminum al-oo-min-ee-um. It's not wrong, it's just British.
In French, Coupé is "coupay" .. Coupe without the accent in french means "Haircut" or "Trophee"... A french as I am is pronouncing "Coupay" and it means "cut" (understand it as a berline cut) :-)
Tom, Darling... Another excellent review, but I must take issue with your recommendation to test drive as many cars as possible. For an average shopper every test drive ends up being a game of kidnap and close for the salesmen. I use the internet as much as possible and will only drive the 2, 3, sometimes only 1 that I most would potentially like. If I'm interested in this car, for example, after your review, it would have to really fall short for me to not go forward. Your role is to honestly inform me about the car I'm already interested in. And you do that well.
J Segal I'm sticking to my guns on the "3 test drives" belief. I firmly believe that a car is a personal (and very expensive) thing and a person needs to experience a number of them once they have done their internet research. I fully understand that dealerships can be unpleasant. A few things that can help- Make sure the sales person knows you are not buying today. Use a buying service. Never let a dealership assess your current car while on a test drive. Keep your keys so you can leave when you want. I've seldom had a problem with a dealership when I'm being firm (but reasonable). Most people don't like to be rude but sometimes you just have to stand up and walk out. Most large cities have large car shows every year. At the very least, spend an afternoon there and check out the interiors and features. It's the perfect place since sales pressure is low and the vehicles will be fresh in your mind.
I suppose car companies are much more likely to flip you the keys if this is your stance, just be advised that it is not how people actually buy cars. I checked with everyone I know.
Steve W I said legroom is "fine" and it is. It's not epic or cramped, it's fine. That my feet are under the seat means nothing since a car that has lots of space under there can feel very roomy.
Driven Car Reviews Sorry, fine and good mean the same. The back of an S Class or A8 are fine. This can't be comfortable unless you will only be in the car for 5 minutes or less!

I said this in a dark room one time, and I was transported to another dimension. It was horrible, I had to fight these bear like creatures, that flew. Eventually, I said this all backwards and was transported to the correct dimension, but now I am stuck back in time.
This car is super stupid. Who buys the 4-door version of the 2-door version of the 4-door version? The only good BMW now is the 2-series. Also, coupes should be pillarless.
+headcas620 This looks twice as good as the 2 series. That is a miniature 3 series and proportions look off. The 4 series is like the premium 3 series. It simply looks better and has a better chassis than the 3.
When you own the same car but watch reviews of it anyways. 😂
I call it research.
Lmaoo same
Is it worth it?
@@yavuzbulak8326 yess it’s fast af for 240 hp
2015 gran coupe $20k/61kmiles is this a good buy yes no?

The toilet paper in the trunk is now more relevant than ever 😂

Beautiful car

Never been about doors BMW says that naming is related and dynamic driving for the 2, 4 and 6
Hey tom have you done the lexus ls yet?

mx5hong I have not heard that rumor but if it means taking some of the stubbiness out of the M235i's design I'm all for it.
Agreed! I would love a 135i
Driven Car Reviews Hope this happens: www.leftlanenews.com/bmw-working-on-rwd-2-series-gran-coupe-report-claims-88633.html
mx5hong Encouraging that it's not front drive
Does bmw instrument cluster and gauges only come with orange illumination?
R0Y4L KN1GHT Can't say for sure that every single one is but that's the way I remember BMW illumination.
2:44 booger on the wheel, they move the wheel twice and the booger still there lmao!
lol
Ah_choo! I thought we got it all.
might take this over a 3, that hatchback offers a bit more practicality without ruining the style.
If I watch one more review where they query 3 series vs 4 series vs 4 series with 4 doors I will scream.
Pretty sure the length is not the same
Hey Tom, whats your personal car? And by the way, this car looks good on you. Wait you have a volvo right?
ray britton He's got an NB Miata I think.
ray britton I drive an original year Miata. My son drives a XC70 (though I snag it for skiing).

Nice looking car!
"Graun-Coop" or "Grand-CouPey"? Great review as always, Tom
n777ua In the US it's Graun-Coop

Driven Car Reviews Well, Coupe is a french word and "koopay" is how it should be pronounced. So I don't know when and how it became "coop".
In French, Coupé is "coupay" .. Coupe without the accent in french means "Haircut" or "Trophee"... A french as I am is pronouncing "Coupay" and it means "cut" (understand it as a berline cut) :-)
Very informative!

At least the four series has four doors now.
omg what a color combination. ouch!

It's true in the US.

Omg, it looks ugly. For Chrissake's if you want 4 doors, then just get the 3 or 5 series.
