But one ting I notice about it, is the sound quality comes across sort of muffled, whereas the camera you used to film the video during your demonstration had a clearer sound with much less base. The only problem is, it didn't come with any software to download on my computer having a photo gallery to find my pictures and videos.
Does this camera is good forma night? I am going to New York so i need a camera good for night shoots is this a good one? And if it's not which camera would you recomend me?, not over $300
Hi Patrick, thanks for the video. Very nice, simple and informative. I think I'll save it until I get to know my camera better so I can refer to it when I need to. My owner's manuals so to speak. What I would like you to show me is how I get this Canon SX 700 HT camera to link up with my Sony vaio laptop so I can download my photos and movies. I previously had a Canon Power shot 260 HS and that was programmed into my laptop you had use the USB port and it came with the CD to download programming. The CD made it very simple for someone like myself, but it has now gone missing. I have now upgraded to the SX 700 HD, the owner's manual did give me a website to go to but it wasn't just a simple click here and it's done. I quickly got lost and after one hour was tired looking and then it was off to UA-cam and I found you. Thanks again
Hello from Scotland ... when on Miniature effect and you get the bar ... you can narrow that line bar by using the zoom lever. I find narrowing in that window bar on miniature effect to the narrowest is the best option. also use the lowest times speed on miniature effect video ... think it's 5x speed. also Turn the Dial to P mode and you can turn the sharpness up full and what a difference.
I would say if you are an occasional shooter then it would be ok. Personally I would not consider the picture quality as good enough for my taste and level anymore. I am used to 1" in my Canon G1X MkI, APSC in my Canon EOS M2 and Full Frame in my Canon 6D. I might try the Micro 4/3" soon as I want to cheat on Canon with a Panasonic LUMIX LX100 to see how 4K video recording will be for editing and my workflow.
I have a question - in the test footage were you holding the camera? If so very steady hands!! Also the digital zoom doesn't look too bad actually?? at least on the video!!
Tanuj Dua Sorry to disappoint you, it was on a tripod. Without the tripod it would have shaken way too much to see anything at full zoom plus digital zoom. Regarding the quality of the digital zoom, well on one hand it was very hot so hazy and that influences the quality, on the other hand I think it isn't good at all and personally I would never ever use digital zoom as it makes the picture only worse. I mean 30x optical zoom should be plenty, but if not I would recommend one of Canon's bridge camera with up to 50x optical zoom. Hope that helps. cheers

June 2021..... I've read a couple places that the Wifi no longer works due to some app or software issues and that Canon won't update the firmware for a camera this old? Do you know if this is true?
Can you lock focus when shooting video? If you can lock focus in video mode (no continuous autofocus), can you then manually re-focus by pressing the shutter button half way down?

And with the very small battery capacity of the SC700 you will not get anywhere close to the 300 shots per day. Maybe 150-200 if you don't record any video and in good light, otherwise I doubt it.
+billalphonso79 actually it isn't possible to move the focus point. You have to fool the camera by focusing with the AF field in the middle and then while keep the shutter half pressed to the corner you want the subject to be and then press the shutter till the end.

+Mawo Duffer there isn't a super travel zoom with a mic jack, that's not what the mass needs and therefore they don't build it. My Canon G7XII is pretty neat, good mic, 1" sensor, however only 24-100mm zoom range.
+Chauly Gardener I would recommend to look through a video that shows the menu, or in my case use another Canon camera and try to find the menu and match it on this one. Mine was in Japanese too and I did exactly that, copied it from another one until I found the language menu and then I could select English.

I usually record with a Canon 650D or my EOS M2. But recording inside vs. outside is a huge difference.

nlnodoubt It doesn't, it shoots either 1080p in 60/30 fps, 720p in 30 fps, 480p in 120/30 fps, 240p in 240 fps. Hope that helps.
