Although very different from one another, their first two albums were just packed with creativity and intensity. Their debut album "The Broadcast" although very strong, had a bit more of this pop sound, more commercial craft in it. But the overall effort was and still is remarkable. Every song on that album is interesting; no filler in my opinion. The Broadcast remains their flagship for new listeners dicovering The Crew. Their second album "The Scattering" was sort of a departure compared to their debut effort. It probably left several fans stunned; the new album had a less pop sound and you could tell that the band had seriously evolved as a whole, musically and lyrically. In context, it was also at the end of this crazy 80's decade where music in general was in deep tranformation. Yet, The Scattering album showcased all the incredible talent at work from each band member. Very solid result while some songs may be a surprise (One handed brag). To this day, the second album preserves this contemporary, modern touch and the profound lyrics make this album a must-listen. Cutting Crew is one of few interesting bands that had the courage to bring an intelligent slant to popular music, yet offering a unique pop-rock blend to this eclectic 80s decade. A distinctive signature that still stands out to this day.

At 36 years old I just discovered Broadcast and I have had it playing for two weeks now. Although I have some favorites, every song has something that keeps me listening.
So now I've acquired another autograph from nick.............Nick...if I had the right band.....I would sing them all.....im a real fan. If thats what you want to call it..I sing your songs...faithfully and truly...like real😉😎
