That poor little boy. I just want to give him a hug. I can only imagine what the world looks like through the eyes of real life children that go through that sort of thing. I hope he wasn't too scared, or at least comforted afterwards.
yes and not to mention whatever long term damage to the child psyche i dont think this was a good idea i worry for this little boy s
I have a feeling that the performers met him first and showed him their masks and costumes. His parents were most likely on the set as well if he really did get scared.
SAMMMEE!!
i'm not a kid person, but yeah that was disturbing, poor boy.
it's probably special effects come on
I felt so bad for that toddler.. but I hope he grows up to realize how cool it was to be in such a phenomenal music video.
... Probly not.. adults need to stop using children.. Like dang.
I hope he wasn't traumatised by the monster costumes they used. I was scared sh*tless of the dark when I was a kid, and the monsters I thought were in it are actually almost harmless, but seeing the monsters in "Kids" actually makes me feel pretty sick inside. Can't begin to imagine seeing them as a young child.

Actually the band released a behind the scenes video for it. The kid wasn't scared of the puppets at all.
^^^^^^
Yeah he had his mother there the entire time, he met each of them one by one and they all made cute sounds when touching at him. He usually laughed, the only reason he cried was because his mother wouldn't give him snacks or toys at curtain times to induce the response.
There is no horror without context. The child had no reason to be afraid simply because he didn't know he was supposed to be.
that kid is a senator now lol

At least they are creepy and full of symbolism... I understand the art, but denied the symbolism behind it is just hard. I guess that like that she keep much attention, maybe is some type of marketing stuff... I don't know but definitely during the last 10 years all the videos of almost all the artists around the world are full charge of symbology.

8:15 That transformation from One by Metallica to that song scared the hell out of me
“The roaches in the sink” that’s a cricket.
“The use of centipedes” that’s a millipede.
“Levitating shoe”.... I mean
Very true about centipede in Prodigy video. A millipede is a poor creature, a very slow mover whereas a centipede is one of the most poisonous one and moves very fast. These ppl can't understand the difference.
LOL!! Busted! 👏🏼😉
@Amber134 Lee Definitely Happiness in Slavery - and there are a couple from Tool that are kinda creepy. Cant think of the name of the one that came to mind, tho. *Brain Fart*
@Amber134 Lee Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden used to be a pop song for us - roasting of the doll is a psyched up child's play. Marilyn Manson - if u think his teeth is OK, then his videos are cool. Dragula is a bit creepy one, agree. Green day is again nothing much to be scared off. MJ is just a movie stuff. Some others I don't remember now.
@@Sivakumar-zc4ym And millipedes are harmless leaf-eaters. They don't bite. People keep them as pets. "Come to Daddy" by Aphex Twin is a respectable number one that can still be played on TV (some other things come to mind that cannot..). Billie Eilish is about as scary as my neighbors chihuahua. I like her style, but she is low-medium spicy in my world.
so id like to know about the things that can not lol
lolol chihuahua!!
She doesn't sing! She mumbles.
I wish horror movies had similar visuals as these videos, they’d be far scarier
The only one that made me slightly scared is the one with the kid being terrified because it makes me think he is going through some forms of abuse and it makes me concerned about his safety and well-being
He is going to have nightmares and might even remember that for the rest of his life :"|

I am shocked too. It looked pretty good tho tbh
Aphex Twin also has "Rubber Johnny" that scared the fuck outta me in high school.
Windowlicker by them has a creepy but subversive message, Great video
"If I Had A Heart" by Fever Ray was also the main theme to Vikings during it's original run and fitted the tone perfectly
"Art is supposed to comfort the disturbed, and disturb the comfortable".

Alice In Chains - Rooster
Soundgarden - Black Whole Sun
Tool - Pretty much all of them lol
I would have been sorely disappointed if Aphex Twin hadn't made #1 on this list!
What I find rather more interesting is that almost all of these songs are personal all-time favorites:
All great songs by even greater artists. Kudos for such an excellent selection!
P.S.: For good or bad, I'll always connect Fever Ray's song with the 'Vikings' tv show. I'd never actually seen their video for the song before...
Aphex Twin is not that scary, its more like a hilarious Slapstick to me
No Behemoth!?
was about to say #1 better be a behemoth song.... (I would probably put Ov Fire and the Void ;)) besides ton of metal songs are more terrifying than this, even asylum from disturbed is far more disturbing (hehe) than most on this list.... and that is basically the pop music of metal -_-
Dude thats what i wanted to see but let's be honest do you think watch mojo even know about behemoth?
The Blackmetal Warmaster they don't come close
Paul J. V.P. Wdym?
The Blackmetal Warmaster they more a screaming metal band when u don't know what they sing while going blah blah blah blah over the microphone. Bands that are more haunting or sick would have grostesque videos.
I know it's kind of exotic, but Dir en Grey's Obscure might be the sickest music video I've ever seen.
Hellchen317 I was thinking the same thing that video still haunts me
I never heard of them before but after reading your comment I watched that video. I have to agree. It's definitely disturbing.
Isn't that video based on the guinea pig series?

F*ck yeah !!! When I read the title of the video, I immediately thought about Dir en Grey ! (Even if for me it's not scaring at all... haha)
Hellchen317 fuck i wanted to write It too
I first heard Come to Daddy in 2004 on a German hardcore Winamp stream. Never forgot it since!

Truly creepy €:-0
Let's not forget about The devil in I from slipknot
Got to say, I didn´t really expect Aphex on the top of the list, however I fully agree with this pick. There are tons of more controversal videos, more terrifying lyrics, but Come to Daddy is the most brutal combination of video, music and whole idea of it. Really suprrising choice, I like it.
Number one should have been Cattle Decapitation - Forced Gender Reassignment
Also I'm missing Behemoth - Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel
Came here to say the same thing.
That Behemoth video is a work of art. I don't listen to them but I LOVE that video.
Too exploitative. The first one is pure exploitation and would run as simply grossly offensive and the Behemoth video probably would have been considered if it didn't include the "women as cattle to slaughter" subtext. It's the reason so many don't rate something like "I spit on your Grave" as great horror- exploitation loses too many points.
Ov Fire and the Void!
Agreed, these are a lame representation.

There is a HUGE difference between scary and creepy. Most of these I would classify as creepy. Cant believe Slipknot, "The Devil and I" wasnt on here. LAME!!
Brian Zimmer they sort of miss the point they try to make with these videos a lot for instance there was a 10 skyrim quests you probably didn't find, but the only way you wouldn't have found them is if you did the main quest and put the game down forever even then you would have to not talk to anyone but the people the game told you to talk to, so if it was your first RPG and you treated it as though it was linear they would be right similarly if you're extremely easy to scare these might be to the extent you can handle
slipknot is the worst band ever. Also Corey Taylor is a cunt
Vuk Malesevic Who Hurt you?
Johannes Montanari lol
Slipknot is the best but that video wasn't that scary or creepy or 2 me anyway
I especially love the way that Mojo's narator mispronounced every tenth word, in typical Mojo fashion.
I am glad you Fever Ray is in this list, her music is amazing and her videos as well
Back in 1998 I fell asleep on the couch, parents were out. Woke up past 10pm to the start of Come to Daddy, with all the lights off. One of the most terrifying moments of my childhood. Tbh Perfect Drug is weird not scary. Where's the universally banned NIN - Happiness in Slavery?

Auuggghh, I remember watching that TOOL music video and feeling sick. Not explicitly terrified, I just felt ... dirty. Empty. Like I'd been witness to a crime. Now that's the real horror feeling.
The kids music video made me most terrified because how the monsters are actual humans, the child sees everyone as monsters, and it's understandable too. In this day in age there's a ton of predators and killers of children. Even I wish I was born somewhere else, fearing I don't belong in such a foul world.

Marilyn Manson's cover of Sweet Dreams is an epic music video with surreal visualizations, it is classic quality, i love it
Oh, gosh...I saw/heard a clip of that video in a different Watchmojo video, and it gave me the heeby-jeebies...
Marilyn Mansons music is NOT classic quality, it's not even quality... He worships Satan just like all the other celebrities, he molests children, just like all the rest, stop worshipping these fallen angels or you also will be with them when the almighty Lord Jesus Christ comes, can't you see that's what they are trying to do? They are trying to take you straight to the depths of hell fire with them, they are desperately trying to rally in the lost people, or maybe they already got your soul, please turn away from the things of this world, please repent of all your sins and ask the Lord Jesus Christ to save you and he WILL fix you, he WILL open your eyes to see the world for what it is, ask yourself this, do you believe we are in the last days? If not just look around seriously look how wicked this world is, this world preys on children even, do you think this is OK? If so then you are lost but there is still hope, I just hope you do not have children because if you think this is awesome and normal then you do not know how to protect your own children if you can't even protect yourself

I know she's not got a lot of integrity, but I think Yolandi is adorable.
The meaning behind “One” and the movie it was based on “Johnny Got His Gun” is absolutely fucking terrifying to me. Being trapped inside your own body not knowing if you’re awake or dreaming is just terrifying.
no question - Johnny Got His Gun is one of the most bizarre, unsettling, and depressing films I’ve ever seen in my life.
spoilers - don’t read more if you haven’t seen the film
You can’t help but feel for the poor bastard, especially when he’s beginning to get used to it, he has his moment when he finds out it’s Christmas through the nurse writing the letters on his chest, and when he thinks to use morse code to communicate with the doctors and officers. But right when you think it’s starting to get better for him, the film rips it all away. He goes from the optimism of wanting to be shown off to the world as a wonder of medical science, but was instead met with the response of “we have to keep this a secret” from the officers, because they knew damn well if the world saw what happened to him, nobody would ever enlist for a war ever again. His Morse code messages then go from responding to their questions, to instead repeating the phrase “KILL ME.” over and over again. i fucking love that film, and it’s quite possibly the greatest anti-war film ever made.
Motor neurone disease, is kind of the same symptom.
The same is when youre born with cerebral palsy (its an asshole because nobody knows what causes it, its very popular and common in Poland), completely unable to move, talk or anything. Or its a side effect of accident or coma due to lack of oxygen. Its worse than death. And it never ends, cant be cured at all
I started reading Johnny Got His Gun and it's absolutely horrifying but really good
Honestly Mein Teil is the Rammstein video that creeps me out the most, especially if you know the context
yeesss
You're right that video is creepy as shit
Exactly was my comment but I see you already did lol.
Yea it's about a cannabil
Blasphemian by Infant Annihilator is really disturbing and gore music video which shows the animated versions of the members of the band doing some strange stuff in and outside a abandoned church. It’s lyrics are no better with topics involving rape, decapitation and obviously... killing infants. The vocalist of the band even had two breakdowns with screams that are out of this world. Overall I think this video is the one that made me the most afraid of watching. In the end I did add it to my music playlist but it took me some time to gain the courage to watch it.
Oingo Boingo's "Insanity" should've been on this list... easily the freakiest music video I've ever seen, and the song is fantastic.
Aphex Twin - Rubber Johnny.

Come To Daddy inspired at least 3 of the other videos on this list, the track and video are incredible
Not a single mention of Lamb of God's "Mento Mori?" That was an entire horror movie I'd personally love to see made into a feature film for the costume design alone. Not to mention the song is just badass.

Machine Head-The Darkness Within
Slipknot-The Negative One
Behemoth-Blow your trumpets Gabriel
of all the Rammstein videos to put on honorable mention... that should've made the list honestly
*Sees Behemoth* Ahh, a man of culture
igorrr - ieud
Can't believe Behemoth didn't make this list.
I keep seeing extreme metal lists without Portal... ua-cam.com/video/2Vyw_FGIhAE/v-deo.html
Also Blut Aus Nord ua-cam.com/video/_OybBqSk5Mc/v-deo.html
And Terra Tenebrosa ua-cam.com/video/D4nno5iHiSA/v-deo.html
As a kid, I got totally freaked out by "black hole sun" by soundgarden... Still gives me the creeps today. :D
That clip of mein herz brennt is kinda cool especially their masks
Nine Inch Nails' Happiness in Slavery still freaks me out to this day...should've picked that one instead
The entire Broken film is disturbing, including Happiness in Slavery.
You can't find it anymore. Not even clips of it.
Damn straight!
@@travelingnome87 its on vimeo
@@travelingnome87 I remember back in the 90s when people thought it was an actual snuff film. I had a friend who had the VHS. (Remember those?) We watched that thing so much, the tape started to warp in places. NIN,Tool, AIC, and Nirvana were huge musical influences to us as teens.
Listen, I really love bands like MCR, P!ATD, and Melanie Martinez, but stop asking why they aren't on this list. They're not scary or disturbing, just slightly dark with dark clothes and makeup,,,,,,,
spookie dookie Ikr
yeah. you guys should go watch Broken if you want real horror.
Behemoth, Cannibal Corpse, Belphegor, Gorgoroth, and Mayhem are truly scary bands
Yes
Cradle of Filth?
Daft Punk - Prime Time Of Your Life
I LOVE that Aphex Twin is first, something about him and his art style just freaks me the fuck out... except for songs like rhubarb, which just make me depressed lol
There better be an aphex twin video on here
Yh good pick, little johhny is even scarier although maybe its because I was on acid
"Rubber Johnny" is actually a short film by the same director, Chris Cunningham, not a music video. Still has a lot of Richard D. James input in it.
Dir en grey- obscure is so much worse than all these
I love Obscure
or what about agitated screams of maggots
Ooh, I forgot about Aphex Twin's "Come to Daddy." That would definitely qualify as a creepy short horror film. But for me, Korn's "Right Now" both terrifies me and makes me ill, full stop. Since the visuals of NIN "Perfect Drug" don't bother me at all, I would have substituted it for RN. Ask my spouse, whenever "Right Now" would air I'd leave the room or cover my eyes. Very little disturbs me, but that vid gives me the same skin crawly feeling as watching a David Cronenberg film.
I spend my youth watching most of these and more on Viva and Viva Zwei. That explains a lot.
No Forced Gender Reassignment,by Cattle Decapitation?
Pig From The Abyss finally someone said it, nah watchmojo are pussies. They probably think Drake is scary because he makes them think of their exes.
Pig From The Abyss Ikr? Should've been here
Its just very gory not exactly scary/creepy.
Either way, more death metal (or black metal) videos should've probably made it to this list.
But considering how death metal bands, "real" death metal band don't really make many videos, they can't be on the list
Right Now by Korn should've been on this list. It's too gruesome not to mention.
That's all I was thinking throughout the whole video. I watched it for the first time a few weeks ago (even though I already knew the song) and it made my skin crawl. No other music video ever made me feel like that.
Now it's Korn's Insane that creeps me out the most.
Oblivion1802 why? What happens in it? I haven't seen it.
Prince Gumball It's about "post mortem" photos. The photographer is trying to take a photo of a dead woman, but it seems to him that she's moving when he looks through the lens. The whole concept of post mortem photos is kinda terrifying, honestly speaking...
p.s. Obviously, I advise you to watch it yourself, but not at night, for god's sake, lol
Oblivion1802 sounds interesting! I just might check it out :/
JUST FOUND THE SONG I WAS LOOKING FOR FOR YEARS AND MONTHS THE TITLE IS KIDS :0
Mojo: top ten scariest...
Ogre of Skinny Puppy: "hold my beer..."
Nobody:
Shoe: *Is terrifying*
XD
Rip Keith, I watched "breath" in middle School haha.
Marcus Wright the first time I ever saw the video to Breath I had just dropped 8 sheets of acid, so you can imagine how I reacted lol. And RIP Keith indeed. I had just started really listening to Prodigy again just before he died 😢
They needed to add Vast "Pretty when you cry"
Hell yes.
This was my introduction to Rammstein, and I've been listening to them ever since
Watchmojo clearly never watched a video of the Japanese band Dir En Grey.
Holy fuck yes
👍👍👍👍
I’m not Googling that shit, just tell me what happens.
@@scoopishere3011 They're MVs are creepy, that's all
"Obscure" was one of the songs I was thinking of when I clicked this video.
Literally any tool song could have been on this
BigBonarBoy69 yeah. I think Ænima is scarier than prison sex. Tho meaning of prison sex is pretty scary, but Ænimas video was way weirder 😂
BigBonarBoy69 exactly, i was disappointed when i didn't see schism
No joke 😂😂😂
BigBonarBoy69 literally every tool song.
BigBonarBoy69 Well i mean, Except the ones without music videos.
Your #1 was genuinely hilarious to watch 😂
Now I have to make a playlist with them all!!
How is thriller not on this list? that video scared the shit out of me as a kid
What's That Now? Same
What's That Now? same here haha
I honestly never understood what was so scary about it
it seemed pretty tame to me
Cobra0798 that's because it's not scary
Closer was the first thing that popped into my head before I clicked on this lol
All of Tools music videos are creepy. Awesome band though
Especially prison sex
Lol I didn't even watch the video before I said that but besides prison sex I would also say parabola.
Lol I was wondering why they said only "Aenima" was a contender for "Prison Sex," instead of, you know, all of Tool's videos.
Dude, Maynard is such a lyrical genius
Gave up is worse
I love Marilyn Manson's music
Yeah but I don't know why they picked overneath the path of misery over sweet dreams (are made of this)
kinda surprised at no mention of insanity by oingo boingo. great disturbing video by the stop motion artist that does most of tool's videos.
