As an Art Therapist, it's really confusing to say that certain colors are "happier" colors when that's not a fact. Meaning is given to the colors by the artist/client.

Hello. Hope you are having a good day. I studied psychology and I teach music to kids. I like to be an art therapist but it's a new thing in my country . I would be happy to know more information about how to be an art therapist.

I agree. There was a study about the colour black in pictures of clients with Borderline personality disorder done by a graduate student of my Master's program at university.
She figured out that besides all the negative aspects considered with black (depression, death, loneliness, desperation, hopelesness etc.), the cleints had very positive associations with it as well, such as protection, setting clear boundaries, having something to find orientation with and personal strength because black is a very dominant contrast colour.
And yet I have to say that there are indeed many connotations with colours due to social references. It may be cultural but many people would consider the colour blue to be a cold, calm and heavy colour whereas yellow might be seen as uplifting, light and shining, spirit-strengthening and so on.
So I'd say yes and no. There are already predetermined interpretations of colours but there are always the individual nuances added to them by the clients. Both are very important factors in therapy because the client comes from a certain country, area and ethnic background.

Not to mention the fact that some see color differently. At the same time, there is a psychology to color, and it does mean something! Just be open-minded

Since when is it a color of joy? It’s the color of the sun. Internationally collected artist. Orange is a happy color.
