I got inspired to do jumping triple front kicks from this cat. In the 90's I was in my 20's trying all kinds of trick kicks on most of my sparring buddies.
true. why do they suck now? I guess there are some good modern martial arts movies, but not that many. Ong Bak, The Protector, the raid, some parts of John Wick (not really an MA movie tho). The show Warrior had some good martial arts too.
@@thevillageyid i think its because back then, A)they used to show the fight scenes continusly from one camera and not frame by frame with the use of many cameras(im sorry if you dont understand what i mean) and B)because back then the bad guys at the ending fight scenes were very good at martial arts(even the thugs)and they had good stunt teams.
@@thevillageyid just for examle 3 of the most bad ass bad guys and thugs in movies(billy chow, yuen wah, dick wei)all 3 were very tough opponents to the good guys of the movies.and they are only 3 of the many.
Of course everyone's talking about how Yuen Baio is underrated, but I think the actual reason why is all image. Jackie and Sammo have iconic looks and personas, whereas Yuen is kind of like a utility player, he can play whatever. He can be the cheery friend, the stuck up officer, the unbalanced criminal. When you're an actor who can disappear into a part, there's always the risk the audience won't notice you. I think he's the best fighter of The Three Brothers, but those films are so crammed with incredibly choreography just how good he is can get lost in the spectacle, particularly when, like the very best do, he makes it look so effortless.
Yeun Biao...my favourite among the 7 of the original Beijing opera brothers. Thanks for featuring him. For far too long he has been hiding behind Sammo and Jackie.
The crazy thing is modern video clips of less physically impressive feats hit up hundred of thousands of not millions of views whilst this feat back taking place in the 80s or 70s is arguably much more breathtaking as fitness and martial arts for the most part was not yet mainstream
I first saw Yuen Biao in “Dragons Forever” and became hooked on him after watching Knockabout. Turns out Yuen Biao was the acrobatic stunt double in Game of Death 2, Prodigal Son, and many other action films performing all the stunts, many flashy kicks and aerial flips that the lead martial arts actors could not do. Yuen’s agility, flexibility are amazing and his kung fu skill is spectacular! Love this guy! He’s highly underrated in martial arts action film. Not given enough credit but is a force to be reckoned with along side Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung. Yuen is a supreme kicker up there with Donnie Yen , Tan Tao Ling (Dorian Tan) and I’d pitt him against Hwang Jang Lee even.
I totally agree.Man werry impressive speeach about martial arts and kung fu legends.I have a passion for all of does guys cause they are so extremely good.Ken Lo is also Another great kicker that was Jackies body guard. He is well rounded in both taekwondo and kickboxing. His kicks in both drunken master 2 and the Jackie Chan Movie thunderbolt is Amazing.Jacky wu jing is also Another great performer. He did train at the same wushu school as jet li.You should check out the Movie fatal Contact with wu jing.great fights.
The rope skipping scene was really impressive. I'm a big fan of Jacky Chan so I've seen plenty of Yuen Biao, but now I need to find more with this guy. Good video.
Many of his scenes in once upon a time was cut out so he didnt stole the show from jet li. Werry underrated in The West but just as big as Jackie and sammo in the east.
And he played Foon who wasn't supposed to be a good fighter. I wouldn't be surprised if he did double Jet Li in some of the acrobatic stuff and the fact that Jet Li also got injured in the making of that film.
The jumping rope scene was one of the most impressive to me. Maybe one reason he didn't take off as much as the other two was that he didn't look quite as tough with his a smaller frame? I think if there were more scenes and roles showing off his unique abilities he could have shone a bit more. I loved him in Wheels on Meals, Dragons Forever, and Project A Part 1.
My favourite yuen biao movie is the prodigal son , not only showcases his martial arts ability but also his comedic acting as well....coupled with sammo hung ....
beautiful tribute! yuen biao's the best! tribute obviously lovingly made, and we watched with joy with some enthusiastic five year olds, one who said "wow, he's extra cooool!"
Yes ! ! ! I remember Him now - Yuen Biao This Hero his Kung Fu is Real Not Fake. RESPECT, RESPECT, RESPECT. Real Chinese Kung Fu Fighter Everything about him is REAL.
Yuen's physical capabilities were even better than Jackie's IMO. He had SO much potential, i wonder why he didn't really succeed. Politics or something?
Jackie and Sammo are not just great action stars, they are also good directors, writers, producers. Jackie is also a great director of photography(see The Miracle), and Sammo have done several drama films which have nothing to do with martial arts. Those drama films, which foreign audiences know little about, have proved that he is also an amazing actors. But most of what Yuen does is doing action, comedy and fighting choreography. So in a way, he has the least "potential" among those three.
Yuen Biao is definitely most agile but that's about it. Jackie had better explosiveness and executed fight moves more cleanly, he just had better physical charisma.
@Kurapika Giovanna He got lucky? really dude? Jackie almost died while doing Armor of Gods stunt. He was the most risk taker of the 3 dragons. Not lucky. lol
GREW UP ON THE 4 GREATS, BRUCE LEE, AND THEY WERE THE BEST TRIO TOGETHER IN THE MOVIES I GREW UP WATCHING, JACKIE CHAN, SAMMO HUNG AND YUEN BIAO, UNSURPASSED...
So much meta on that scene with the jump rope: that level of acrobatics would be enough from someone else, but from Yuen Biao Sammo Hung could ask much more as a director.
Ran upstairs to show my kid on the skipping bit "here look here's your old man skipping look!" Haha. Didn't see the bit when he was holding his foot and jumping over it whilst still jumping the rope. "Holy Shit!! Look at that!!" Haha. Typical teenager...."yeah I've seen loads of people do that!" Grrr....bloody kids! Love all the three brothers. Fantastic masters of their craft
Yuen Biao's most badass moment is at the beginning of Millionaire's Express where he jumps from the top of a two stories building which is set on fire, lands on the ground, stands up, walks to a bunch other guys, and start a conversation. ALL in one take! Big deal.
Yuen is considered to be the best aerial acrobatic martial artist ever. No one can dispute that. His big brothers Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung have said that time and time again. Undisputed. List the movies next time in the tribute
In my opinion, he is most agile than Jackie, just the level up. But Jackie is more crazy, so all of his stunts are incredible. I love the 3 dragons, they are awesome.
Yuen biao the prodical son was the first of his i ever saw ,i think yeun, jackie and sammo made some of the best martial arts movies and worked great as a 3 some like meals on wheels
thank you for uploading this 😘 I am a new fan of Yuen 😍 I first saw him in dragons forever. I was just plannng to watch old jackie chan movies but I ended up falling to Yuen Biao 😍❤️
Without a doubt out of the three Biao is the more acrobatic while Chan is more agile and Hung packs more power. I'd rather get kick in the face by Chan or Biao than Hung.
He was really awesome to watch. I was also baffled as to why he didn't continue making more movies. He was in very good movies Millionaires Express, Prodigal Son, etc., he even made bunch of movies with big stars like Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung, so it is a bit puzzling and sad.
This is a really Great Tribute to Yuen Biao!! I know that he was the 3rd Musketeer out of the trio with Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung. Them 3 were closest of friends and i know this. It's to bad that he was not able to get as much fame as the other 2., but i love the Tribute. :-)
Thank you.I agree but maby that was for the best.I rather watch a hong kong action movie with him that has good acting with amazing fight scenes and a great director like Corey Yuen,Yuen Woo ping ,Sammo Hung,Stanley Tong or Stephen Chow then to watch a crappy, overrated hollywood movie like rush hour that have horrible fight scenes.Jackie hates does movies cause they dont let him be free and he are always a Sidekick. They should listening to the legend himself not the other way around.
@@elvisjimpa100 Yeah,... i know. Yuen Biao is so underrated yet he is one of those great martial artists in the film industry.
Only famous in Asia but not as internationally acclaimed as Jackie
Yeah he is, but he is swifter & faster in my opinion
Damn I’m just finding out about him. What an artist seriously hella agility 💪🏾

Agree.Yuen is Amazing.
Not by me is he under rated him Sammo and Chan were my idols growing up DRAGONS FOREVER!

All his flips and jumps, he makes it look so easy!
Love this kind of movies since I was a child and Yuen Biao was amazing on the 80's.
The most agile of the 3 dragons
Also a great physical comedy actor.

He is one of the more acrobatic and humble one amongst the seven brothers.
Yes Yuen Biao is the most agile and acrobatic of the Seven Little Fortunes, but sadly he is underrated.
