- Betta splendens prespawning behavior to eggs....This is typical breeding behavior of Betta splendens over 24 hours. I am no longer working with this line, but if it helps a newbie understand betta breeding behavior, I'm leaving it up. There are so many other videos on conditioning the pair and all of that jazz. ;-)

Hi, i wanna ask u something, how long it takes till the couple start to spawn ?? i have a male with her female, and the are about 3 days, and he have a huge nest, the female follows him, but then he start "play tag" with her.
I have two halfmoons in a 10 gallon 80 degrees after male made a bubble nest and female showing verticle bars. he has been chasing her around for over 2 hours so far and i was just wondering how long this might go on and how long the whole process might take. SHould I leave them together overnight? I have dim lights on the tank now should i turn them off at night if so? any advice would be greatly appreciated:)

@Zhane Johnson probably not a good one. i did this with my bettas and they did what yours are doing and ended up fighting and taking bites out of each others fins.

i destroyed the bubble nest because i thought the water was getting dirty so i get rid of it haha. i will upload some other time

HELP!!!!!!!! mine have been embracing but no eggs it's been a couple hours that they've been doing this and I'm afraid that the male will kill the female if he gets stressed of no eggs what should I do I don't want to take her out cause what if eggs do come

well it so sad because the fish in the video we watch maybe died because this video is 9 years ago the only lifespan of a betta is 3- 5 yrs or longer but still I'm very sad for that fish. :(

Abby Rice yup, you should take the female out as soon as she's done laying her eggs, you can re-breed, but the male has to wait to make his nest again, otherwise, he sees her as a tresspasser
I have a male dumbo ear that isn’t aggressive in the slightest. He’s probably the least aggressive Betta I think I’ve had.
Abby Rice it depends because the male aka the dad is trying to like you know protect his eggs as the other hand the female aka the mom will try to eat the eggs so it basically means that the dad will probably kill the mom.

It is normaI for both the male and female to be aggressive. If the tank is bare, add more live plants. Use your best judgement on when to remove the female and consider it a failed spawn. After 48 hours and no spawn, the chances of bettas spawning are low.

I need some help, I was wondering if anyone can give me some ideas on what I could be doing wrong with the Bettas I bre about six months ago. I have eleven of them from my first attempt in breading Siamese fighting fish. I feed them regularly and my water temperature is at a constant 82 degrees to help with digestion. I also do regular water changes to remove any waste and hormones that may be affecting their growth. I think they look really healthy since they are in a sense perfect without missing scales or ripped fins. I hope that in time they develop their pelvic fins. I uploaded some videos so you can see what I'm talking about, please help.
Yes, bettas are capable of breeding before they are fully grown. Most animals are capable of producing offspring before they are actually ready to breed.

I need help I have a crowntail male beta and I put in a alge eater with him and he is a little scared of it but not scared to nudge him here and then trying to get to his spot he usually goes to the other side of the tank and flares up. He is just a tad smaller than the male in this video he has not attacked The alge eater but I am thinking about breeding my beta soon. What do I do to get him ust to another beta I've already got the alge eater and I am really supprized he has not attacked it ye
you do to worry about it..how about you follow my step
1# put male and female betta into a tank ( 3 gallon recommended )
2# wait until 1 day 4 hour or you wait until you can sea a bubble nest with their eggs
3# take out the female betta from the breeding tank and let the male betta to take care their eggs
4# the eggs will hacth about 48 hours
5# take out the male betta from the tank until the fry can free swimming or 48 hours after their hacth
6# feed the fry with brine shirmp or artemia
as a mater of fact the water was used in another spawning that they were born but were sickly from the beginin, checked water 85 degrees all good,somtimes i believe its not meant to be move on, I do have a heater , feed babies shelled brine shrimp eggs and a little egg yolk, very lil, mix with water and us eye droper, Im going to breed her again in 12 days to another pk and two weeks later back into this one . its not hard, if its meant to happen ,i have seen them breed in rice bowl with plant
I have been loving bettas all my adult life ,Yes breeding is fun. But now it serious,they hurt each other they spawn and usually he runs her off, worse case they hate each other wont breed and are just abusive, best I put in a pair same time in 20 gallan tank,dont need 20 gallaon,10,5 will do, hell tupper wear will do. they spawned in at 5pm spawned 2am, babies hatched in 2am ,today most are a live and swimming vertical, dads been out snce babies werbouncing around , no cup, no special water

k i tried to breed my mustard gas dragsonscale male with my red crowntail female and she had the vertical stripes on her and the male had built the bubble nest and they soon stopped to flare at each other so i let her out of her jar just like in the video but after that all she did was just stay in the other corner away from the male so what can i do to help?
Artificial hatching success.. rate hatching 80%. Soo.. now i know its similiar to hatching patin egg.. ahaha.. goodbye to egg eater.. goodbye fry eater.. and we make shortcut time betta breeder just in 1 or 2 day process... im happy this day.. my experiment about artificial betta breeding and hatching success. My Betta i got yesterday is a male crownfin and a female Crownfin or wat ever well the male keeps puffing out his gills or something at the female and he keeps chasing her and they haven't even had any mating comunications or anything like that?What is that comunication?
