Good news: Delta A321neo first class is different than anything you’ve seen before (at least here in the US). Bad news: it’s not all that much better than the standard Delta domestic first class product, which is making it hard for me to justify the added cost.
These new seats feature more privacy than the standard seats (which is good). There’s more storage space as well (that’s good too). Comfort remains about the same, so think twice before spending more money (or points) for these.
This is a full review of Delta flight number 322 from San Francisco to Boston in July 2022. I had seat 4A for this 4 hour and 55 minute flight, and the aircraft registration was N501DA.

I'd love to see your take on Air India. Flew them prior to the pandemic and was amazed that they served a full meal in coach on a 1.5-hour domestic hop. It's been many years since I've flown long-haul on them so I'd like to see your take on how their experience is today.

Excellent review as always. I just booked a flight for August with Delta from San Diego to JFK in first class in an A321neo and it was around the same price that flights with one stop with two A321s. So I think it's worth it when the price difference is minimal

Less space in front of you than the average premium economy on an international carrier. Why? The other question being, why are they allowed to call this first class when the amount of space you get is (far) less than in an international business class?
I mean, consider that Emirates and/or Turkish charge at least *$4000* for a 5-hour flight in Business Class and US carriers only charge about *$1000* for a 5-hour flight in "Domestic First Class"... 😦
@@odeiraoloap when you use credit card miles you are charged just $60 - 300 in fees for any first class. The point is why call something a name when it clearly is not? There are standards to this. That's like me pissing on your head and tell you it's raining. When something isn't even at the minimum threshold for business class you can't call it first class with a straight face.

Love the look of the black around the cockpit Windows!! I don't know what attracts me to it, but I love it. Air Canada's become one of my favorite.
As for the wings on the first class seat when flying with my wife? Priceless!! I don't wanna listen to her yelling at me for the whole flight! 😂😂😂
BOS-SFO and BOS-SEA are routes that Delta views as being between domestic F and domestic Delta One (BOS-SFO had 757 Delta One for a while a few years ago): the catering is typically better than other domestic F routes. It wouldn't surprise me that much if Delta switches the branding on these routes to Premium Select once every domestic Delta One route is on Premium Select-equipped aircraft (which will be when the 767 retrofit is complete and the three-cabin A321neos replace the Delta One 757s), which would end complimentary upgrades beyond Comfort+ on these routes.
That’s good to know. I figured that SFO-BOS might be considered more “premium” due to stiff competition from Jetblue and American, but it was weird that they didn’t market it as such. The amenity kits sure were a nice surprise though!
Thanks for the report Scott! Nice to see the evolution of American companies; that Delta FC looks nice and an improvement over the old one, hope good food comes back soon. Talking about pricing, we have this same trend here in Europe; I have been looking at pricing and it only seems to cool down if you buy tickets for the winter season, but still more expensive than they used to be. Hope everything cools in the following months, let's be optimistic.
You’re very welcome Roger! The price increases we’ve seen in the airline industry over the past 9 moments or so are scary! Knowing how greedy airlines can be, it’s hard to be optimistic that they’ll eventually lower fares. ☹️

Sure, you threw your sister under the Airbus....ok threw is a harsh word....but you also flew over/near my hometown, which you can see from Logan (over by the water treatment plant to the east). I'd have flown JetBlue Mint. One of these days I'm going to....fly from DFW to SFO just to use JetBlue Mint to BOS. Not today..haha. Until your next video...

US airlines don't have any window shade rules
US airlines don’t have rules for opening window shades (I was surprised about it when I visited) and the first class name is just historic but it has stuck and hasn’t been changed.

I didn't find the 321NEO First Class on Delta anything close to game changing. Nice service and great Airline, but no US carrier comes close to JetBlue and their Mint Service. Now thats a game changer for domestic First Class. Nice video as always!

It's a fair point but you are comparing fundamentally different products - as a traditional domestic first class product, the above on Delta's A321NEO is truly exceptional. JetBlue Mint would be better compared to Delta One on the 767-400, 757-200, or sometimes the A350 when re-positioning. JetBlue loses hands down when comparing international first/business class products between airlines.

Having flown AA's Flagship Business transcon a few times before finding this video, the "game changer" descriptor seemed backwards/in the wrong direction here. This Delta product is a lot closer to an economy seat than it is to Flagship, though the latter is probably more expensive still. Picking a bulkhead seat in the Flagship business class, I couldn't even reach any of my stuff stored on one of the four shelves/flat surfaces in front of me without unbuckling my seat belt -- too far away! : ) Plus there was storage above/behind me at the top corners of my pod-like near enclosure (when the seat is flat -- otherwise there isn't much material separating the adjacent passengers).
Traveling with the spouse, Business is actually better than First. They are the same seats either way, but unfortunately in First the lone seat is on the aisle with a "filler" table which replaces the second seat occupying the window area. It would have been so much better for isolation + view if they had done it the other way around in First.
As for the Flagship infotainment system, I've never gotten it to work very well and soon give up in favor of sleep or reading. Likewise for my wife, so a score of zero for two engineers vs some combination of finicky system and/or unreliable controls. Presumably if we were more persistent, it wouldn't stay more trouble than it's worth.
Food in Flagship Business was more than we could eat. I tried to correct the flight attendant when I was given a chicken salad after having ordered beef, but it turned out that was just an appetizer. My wife, who has also flown Mint, says the AA food is better as in less fancy/more in line with our simple tastes.
I'll be right back in Economy where I belong once long covid is no longer a possibility (I know, could be years). But for now, the pod-ish Flagship Business seats are about the best you can do for minimizing exposure during domestic air travel. And fun.
Angels weep at the cost of that oatmeal.
Come on Delta... for the highest cost of all the airlines, the least you could do is give us FREE WiFi.

At the price they're charging for the new first class seats on these flights, you can almost get transcon Delta One seats. In my opinion a much better value than these new first class seats.

As a seasoned(older)traveler, first class quality of service and food has been continuously going down hill every year. Back in the day, we didn't have seats that made into a bed but the seats were so big and reclined so much, it didn't need to be a bed and the service was impeccable! The food back then put this food in this video to shame. It's sad, so very sad...

Your comment on United, do you mean current offerings or the brand new interiors that they are adding with new IFE on their planes? Both products as far as IFE goes seem to be very similar.

Almost any new First Class product on U.S Domestic flights is a good thing and Delta has come out with a good new seat, also i wonder why they did not give you an Amenity Kit on you're flight back?
That seat support right where your right foot goes ruins it. The should have done a narrower divider to give you foot space. No way my size 14 wide fits there, and if you benefit from the legroom you're probably big enough that your foot can't fit there either

Being smack dab between MSP and DTW probably isn’t helping. It’s probably more efficiency to filter passengers through those hubs rather than trying to build up a decent sized operation there.

Not a 737! The 321neo is more quiet, modern, and better seat width for economy. Still better than what united and American offers(until both get their 321xlr whit the new firth class)I think we would not have the problem flying on that if one day occurred. Economy plus if enough for us for be happy. By the ways, Delta is planning to out new first class whit bed and everything on the coming future neos. Another exelent video! Yup, bulkhead seats usually have more legroom than the other seats (even in first class). The only downside is that there is no place to stow small bags - everything has to go in the overhead bin.
American carriers have to stop using the description of 1st class

The prices are actually quite similar for most flights jetBlue is only around 30-50 dollars more (Can be more or less)

Delta normally shows you the plane your going on before purchasing. Also the airlines release routes with the aircraft’s they are using almost every month

That's why I avoid KLM, AA, Eurowings Discover, Spirit, Ryanair, and any other airline on that level.
