I think thes video and the quality of this video shows that they need to make a movie version with her in it or at least film the stage production with her in it
film the stage production? You mean the one that closed years ago and all the actors/directors are currently doing other projects? That one? Sutton herself is about to leave for Broadway to star in The Music Man with Hugh Jackman.
@@ChrissieInWonderland this person specifically says they want this production back on Broadway. It is unrealistic for Americans to fly to England to see her perform this role.
@@joeywowdale9953 the reason it is coming to London as opposed to Broadway is that this IS the Broadway version but it's in London because no one was buying tickets to the Broadway show 🙄
Everyone's mentioning the talented Sutton Foster (quite rightly) but no one is shouting out the great dancers she had with her - brilliant job gents, smashed it!
Saw it twice, only went cos Robert lynsey was in it,sutton was amazing as were the whole cast, there wasn't one weak link in there, one of the best shows I've ever seen
This is an amazing performance , from the jazzy arrangement of Cole Porter’s great song, to the terrific dancing, to the “can’t take my eyes off her” performance by the lovely Ms. Foster. I don’t think Mr. Porter would mind my borrowing from his songwriting brethren, the Gershwin’s, when I quote a line from their song, “Nice Work if You Can Get It: “Who could ask for anything more.?” Wow. Thank you BBC for making this video available. Cheers! JT
Hats off to Sutton Foster for another incredible performance *and* to the man responsible for this brilliant piece of musical theatre, Mr. Cole Porter. 👏👏👏👏
Went to show last night at Barbican, London. Brilliant. Costumes, staging, orchestra and performances of singing and dancing was fantastic. Not to mention the acting which the audience enjoyed.
Even better than watching on UA-cam (if you can get there, I'm still looking at logistics), the point of this segment is promoting Sutton's reprising of her role as Rino in Anything Goes, in London at The Barbican theatre this Summer/Autumn, for all shows in the run.😀
Thank you! I played this almost daily during covid--great positive way to start the day--thanks again--the song, location, singer, dancers, movie people--bless you all!
Saw the show last night at the Barbican. Fantastic in every respect. Selfishly I'd have liked the Anything Goes number to have been twice as long - but one must have regard for the stamina of the performers. The Blow Gabriel Blow number was fantastic as well.
Bravo! What an excellent set piece on the Thames. The One Show is just an early weekday evening topical show on BBC One but they are terrific at promoting the West End, someone put a great deal of thought and creativity into the filming of this one-off item. To be able to go to the theatre again from next week will be terrific.
Usually when actors revisit their role is for nostalgia reason. but Sutton is energetic that is seems like someone that is a real rookie playing the role.
Sutton Foster is amazing. I'm mesmerized by her performances of Anything Goes. The added treat in this video is watching the great Robert Lindsay mug and dance a little at the beginning.
@@jamesblundell4616 Well then you must be asleep at the tiller, an apposite metaphor for Anything Goes. Sutton Foster was won two Tony awards so far in her career - one for Thoroughly Modern Millie and the other for Anything Goes on Broadway. I expect as a theatre fan you’ve heard of the Tony Awards?!!
After years of worshiping Sutton and reconciling with the fact that I'd never have the chance to see her live doing this, I'm really going through hell knowing that she's in Europe and I can't go see her because of Covid restrictions :(
I can't stop watching this, just like when I got hooked on the sped up and abridged Tony Award video that I STILL watch frequently. Not to make this political but what 45 took away of my pride, Sutton is helping restore. I LOVE British actors but I'm so proud of her.
You're kidding right?? Cole Porter is one of the most celebrated songwriters and composers of the 20th century both in America and overseas. The Great American Songbook would be half the size without Porter's brilliant song catalogue. The man was not only a Broadway *and* Hollywood legend but he's also the subject of not just one but *two* big budget Hollywood biopic films on his life & career. Can't say the same for George & Ira Gershwin, Richard Rodgers, Lorenz Hart or Oscar Hammerstein. Cole Porter is an icon and gets ample credit (as he should) for his incredible musical genius and his immense contributions to popular music in the early-mid 20th century. All the composers mentioned above are legends in their own right but the two names at the very top of any list when discussing the greatest American 20th century composers and The Great American Songbook are *always* Irving Berlin and Cole Porter.
If I could still get into my tap shoes (my feet have swollen a bit with age), I would try to learn this routine (it's very doable). Love the routine and the music.
Jonathan Groff must be going nuts with this.
