Barbara Eden on I Love Lucy as 'Diana'

- From season 6 of I Love Lucy, this clip is of the Country Club Dance episode, where the guys become hypnotized to the host's young house guest Diana played by Barbara Eden, famed of I Dream of Jeannie in the late 1960s.
The way Lucy waves her hand in disgust at the end, it gets me every time !!😂😂
This is how gorgeous Barbara Eden was : born in 1931, she was 26 in this skit, though she looks 20. She was in her mid-30s when she rocked that genie outfit. What a gorgeous feminine freak of nature
You're close, however, her birthday is in August (just like now in 2022). The episode in is entitled Country Club Dance [film date: March 21, 1957/air date: April 22, 1957]; therefore, Barbara Eden was still 25 at the time of this episode.
@@SuperAV21 if it’s so close then why bother commenting???
@@natashatomlinson4548 I do have a habit to do calendar math for people's ages from their births onward; for those who are still with us, they'll add additional years according to their respective birthdays (example: Eddie Murphy's birthday being on April 3; thus turning 61 this year on that specific date [he was born in 1961]); for those who are deceased, their lives end on various date throughout each of every year, and most often than not, less than everyone has had been unable to reach the year of age they were bound to turn. If you respect my response to you, great. If you disrespect it, you can leave without further argument between the two of us. Thank you and good night.
@@SuperAV21 Yeah that’s something worthy of disrespect . Anal much ?
This is exactly why the internet can suck - you post a little benign comment and some s/a uses it as a diving board
She was about 30 in Andy Griffith and looked a sexy 19. She always looked younger for her age.
"Nature's been real good to her. Reeeel reeeeeeel good."
So good. I just saw an old interview with Barbara Eden talking about how great Lucy was to her when she came on the show. Two legends :)
I also heard how Desi Arnez kept chasing her all over the set and that she would continuously would attempt to hide from him. I just wish I could go back in time just so I might have a one in a million shot at dating her.
She’s beautiful. Saw the same interview and she said that Lucy and her hairdresser were the ones that put all of those rhinestones on her dress and they were really really good to her. Who is the main star that worked with her but she mentioned, it wasn’t Lucy it was someone else.
And she also mentioned in a documentary that she had to HIDE from Desi Arnaz. Yes, Desi Arnaz
Indubidubly 🙂
@@intothewoods_dave IIRC Miss Eden said that Ann Sothern was somewhat cool towards her when she guested on 'The Ann Sothern Show'- even going so far as to ask the makeup folks if Miss Eden could be made to look less attractive!
Oddly enough, years before Miss Sothern HAD personally helped Lucy decorate her first new house in time to help her welcome the rest of her family from Jamestown, New York!
My back hurts from doing some yard work. Watching Lucy's face when she saw Diana walking toward them HILARIOUS. I started to laugh and now my back hurts like HELL.
Lucy's expression is EVERYTHING
That happened to me once too! I had hurt my back and I made the mistake of watching the Lucy episode where she makes a huge loaf of bread.😂😂😂
I thought Barbara Eden was BEAUTIFUL in the "Genie" series, but in this Lucy episode she looks ANGELIC. Wow, unbelievable!
Indubidubly 🙂
This episode aired on April 22, 1957 when Barbara was 25 years old. She turned 26 in August.
That was quite the entrance wasn't it : )
Lucille Ball does her best comedy without even opening her mouth.
Look at the silent films from Mary Pickford.
Lucille Ball got all of her material from Mary Pickford. All of it. She also copied from Charlie Chaplin.
Barbara Eden is the last adult who portrayed a lead character on I Love Lucy left alive!
Wow I suppose that is right. Have mercy. What's even weirder to me is the child who played Little Ricky is now older than William Frawley was here!
Yup, still going strong in 2024 at age 92!
Actually Jil Jarmyn is still alive. She's 97.
Barbara Eden was/still is GORGEOUS, & that ain't NO BLINK!!! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜✌️
this episode is so funny, i can watch it over and over and never get sick of it , the comedy is at its finest
Betty: "You'd think they'd never seen a blonde before."
Lucy: "They still haven't. If she's a blonde, I'm a redhead."
😂
But Lucy! You ARE a redhead! 😊
That bottle of henna in her bedroom closet says otherwise. 😉
Barbara Eden had the nicest things to say about Lucy. She said the first time she tried on the dress Lucy said "Do you like the dress?" Barbara said she wasn't going to say she didn't like anything, she was a newcomer. Lucy said "Take it off!" Then Lucy and her assistant spent the rest of the week sewing on sparkling grommets to the dress to give it that little something. Babara considered that remarkable from the star of the show and owner of the studio. On the other hand, everytime she saw Desi coming she found somewhere to hide. By the way, this was the last episode of 'I Love Lucy.'
Actually, the last half-hour filmed- and first-run episode - was "The Ricardos Dedicate A Statue" [May 6, 1957].
Barbara had heard about Desi's taste for young blondes on the "LUCY" set, so she tried to avoid him off-camera for as long as possible.
The statute dedicated one , was the last of the 30 min, shows. Before the new format begins. The statute show also included there children in the crowd. Vivian asked them are they having a good time.
Her first AND last
In the episode of I Dream of Jeannie, Tony and Jeannie travel in the 1950s, and Tony shouted, "We're trying to watch I Love Lucy!"
How is it I am just finding out in 2024 that Diana was played by Barbara Eden!
What's so great about this episode shows how Brilliant Lucy was, she choreographed the whole scene, down to the way the dress on Barbra sparkled, like it did. Lucy did tell her the dress looked great on her so she should keep it.
This episode, was the best one yet! All of the sudden, the men perked up and I feel on the sofa laughing! Barbara Eden's personality and beauty was fabulously funny! My mother told me to pick YOU!! 🤣🤣🤣
When Lucy imitated "My mother told me to pick youuuu!!", I never laughed so hard!!!😂
Barbra Eden has always be a GODDESS
"hoooow doo youuuuuuu dooooooo?" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Barbara Eden’s dress, fig n face, wow!!!!! Beautiful even at 90 too!
She turned 93 (3days ago)
@@SuperC888
I’m unsurprised. My mom is 92. I can’t get over the ageless ones!
Yes, Amazing!❤
My fave episode . I've said this so many times. I always love the episodes when Lucy would get jealous of the women surrounded by Ricky and this was one of them. And not to mention Lucy in her tight dress and the girls being jealous of Diana. Lucy mocking Diana with the my mother told me to pick you. From beginning to end the episode was so funny. I love it.
Love it! I love when Lucy comes down the stairs in that tight gown and all those diamonds lol. When she said earlier in the episode "Glamour today is nothing but a tight skirt loose hips and red lips" I crack up!
Yes, this is one of the funniest ILL episodes ever
@@cd3694 and did you know Desi arnaz was pursuing Barbara Eden behind the scenes in this episode. Omg and Lucy knew about it and still let Barbra do her thing cuz Barbra turned desis ass down. Lol
Omg. Now it makes sense looking back at this episode and the scenes with Ricky and Barbara there. You can see he was lusting over her. And Lucy looked hurt and mad.
@@maryammure5151 I don’t really care what went on behind the scenes. Lucy was a hard ass from all accounts. But IMO I Love Lucy was the best of all her shows because Desi, Vivian, and William were hilarious in their own right, and they played off of each other so well.
@@cd3694 I agree. I love lucy was a hit show and funny because all four of them were fantastic and their chemistries were amazing. I'm so happy they have the show on Hulu. But I don't get why many episodes are missing ? It's like wtf lol
I wanna see the one when she dresses as a princess to help Ricky with his career. The other one with the pioneer women. They have so many episodes missing. But I'm glad they have this episode country club dance on Hulu. Lol
Oh Master! I love dancing with the male stars of “I Love Lucy!!!”
"if she's a blonde I'm a redhead"🤣😁😂😅
Originally telecast on April 22, 1957.
There's something great about the fact that so many decades later, people are still familiar with Frank Nelson. Although most know him as the guy that goes "A-YEEEEESSSS"
I ❤ Barbara Eden.
She's iconic she will always be remembered and nobody can ever ever replace her❤❤
This is my favorite episode of all time. The lines are so funny. The wives are so jealous of beautiful Diana. Barbara Eden was truly a beautiful and lovely actress. Lucy’s face when she arrives and Ricky rushes to dance with her is classic.
I agree. It's my fave episode of all time too. Esp Lucy coming down stairs in the tight dress and she slides off the couch lol
Barbara Eden is beautiful still and radiant at 90!
My Mother Told Me To Pick Yooooouuuuu. The way Lucy barks that line !
Barbara Eden, perhaps one of the most beautiful women on earth. God was showing off when he created her...
Fred popping up and saying 'and I'm Freddy Mertz!'.
Hilarious.
Lucy spectacular but Barbara Eden, OMG fantastic!
One if my fave episodes of the show
You know I am so observant...I have been watching this episode since the mid 1960s and it just occurred to me that Barbara Eden walks in WITHOUT A PURSE! What girl walks around without her purse or a handbag? I would make a great detective!!
The kind of girl that gets anything she wants .....just faccts
Barbara Eden is gorgeous and she still is. I hope to meet her before she passes.
Barbra was a Dream come to life ... Beautiful gal . and still is .
I love Lucy but I dream of Jeannie 😎
It gets even better when the three wives try to be glamorous. Classic!😆
Lucy e Bárbara são dois ícones de minha infância que até hoje não tem como esquecer. Esta cena foi hilária. Todos os atores são muito bons na verdade. É um time que vai ser difícil encontrar de novo. Obrigado por compartilhar
This was a very funny episode especially when Lucy wears a really tight dress and talks like Diana and then when it rips.
I had no idea Barbara Eden played on I Love Lucy.
She was on The Andy Griffith Show too
Just saw her tonight in Newton, North Carolina
Barbara Eden was simply Gorgeous.
Wow. This was great! I've never seen it before.
“My Mother told me to pick youuuuuu!”😂😂😂😂
I really do love Lucy. Such a mega talent and business powerhouse. Barbara Eden was on an episode of Andy Griffith. She's simply gorgeous and effervescent with a sweet energy. I just noticed here that she's not sitting up; I'm guessing that the dress is too tight. 😂I've had to do that a few times myself eons ago, that is.
Luckily Barbara Eden did not use her blinking powers to create chaos from all that jealousy. Actually Barbara said on an interview ( either on the Maria Menounos Show or on the Joy Behar Show which you can see on UA-cam) that Lucille Ball was extremely kind to her the day of this dance scene. She said Lucille had Barbara take her dress off and Lucille and another lady put those sparkling shiny things on the dress by hand. That's right. Lucy in real life put those sparkly things on Barbara's dress so that the dress would look more beautiful.
I always thought I Love Lucy should have done a "Bewitched" type of fantasy episode where new neighbors move into the NYC apartment and the wife is a witch. However it would have been difficult to film the special effects with a live audience. Bewitched never had a live audience while they were filming.
This is priceless! After all these same men complained that it was late and they were tired and didnt want to dance RIGHT before she arrived ! HA
I love Jeannie more than Lucy.
The only thing missing from this was the TOM-TOMS when Diana walked over to the table.
According to Barbara, Lucille was very good to her...she tells the story of how Lucy and her hairdresser (Irma Kusely) added sparkles to her dress to make it look even better....
Boy was a 26 year old barbra was a knock out right up there with Ava gardner
When I first saw this clip of Miss Eden making her appearance on Lucy . . I immediately - without thinking declared war on Troy. ;)
Barbara Eden was Goddess Boss......
One of my top 10 episodes of all the I love Lucy's!
Hard to beat, especially these days.
It's strange how women know each other
meaning their competition with highly attractive females
“Howwww do you do?”😂😂😂😂
Love the sex face on Fred when he says “Helllllooooooo”……
The way that Fred says...Hello...funny yet kinda creepy.
Not creepy. Different era. You are totally erong
@@lorraineb.4698yes I’m erong
Lucy is freakin adorable
I had no idea Jeanniee from I dream of Jeanie was acting before Jeanie
She was also on the Andy Griffith Show - The episode called The Manicurist
She was in a show called How To Marry a Millionaire. She played Loco Jones.
She played in the Elvis Flaming Star movie as well
She had done a good number of TV and films before Jeannie. She has a huge body of work.
The WAY that Lucy is LOOKING at Diana😂😂😂😂would bury her😂😂😂😂
3:26 the way Ricky pushes the other 2 aside ( as if he saying " i got this ) lol
from what i heard, genie had to hide any time ricky was around cuz she knew what he was capable of
I loved Barbara's part in Andy Griffith, as the Hot manicurist.
Today 22/25/12, and l here watching Lucy in Rio de janeiro
Wow. I just read about how Desi arnaz was pursuing Barbara Eden while married to Lucy and Barbara turned his ass down and Lucy knew about it but still on with the show. Damn now it makes sense why the whole tension between lucy and Desi in the Eden scenes. Wow. Poor Lucy. It's sad she was so in love with Desi. She gave him the world and all he did was stomp on her heart. Smfh.
But, it was _Barbara Eden._
But bad play really, he was so far ahead career wise and a power in Hollywood.
And Lucy was still so nice to Barbara in spite of Desi’s behavior, mad respect for her taking the high road. Barbara has had nothing but nice things to say about her experience with Lucy 😊
@OP Oh please. Lucy had her own faults too. Her own kids have even said so & said they both preferred the company of their dad better
Not to mention, Lucy cheated plenty of times herself
Furthermore, why is THEIR marriage YOUR business??
Who are YOU to judge??
You didn't even know them or know what happened between them🙄
@@kleeamd8274 😂😂😂😂
Barbara Eden and Frank Nelson in the same scene...fantastic
Boy did she get their attention fast!
One can argue that men are not naturally inclined to be with one woman for life.
Desi wanted some of Barbara bad. Even chasing after her backstage.😂
Barbara Eden said she spent half her time on set trying to get away from Desi Arnaz.
Oh wow 😮
Yeah Desi was pretty nonchalant about hiding his womanizing ways from Lucy at that point in their marriage, they would divorce soon afterwards. Lucy was incredibly gracious to Barbara though, never blamed her for Desi’s behavior and even bedazzled Barbara’s dress in this scene for her!
I havnt watched regular TV programs since Miami Vice
Ricky is awake now
"Yeeeeeeeessssssss!" - Ralph Ramsey
1:55 was that rise a double entendre?
Didn't this guy also play the talent scout Ben Benjiman. The guy Lucy knocked out with a vase ?
Yep a lot of the non-main actors played multiple characters over the seasons! The wife also played the mother on the airplane who sat next to Lucy and her baby-disguised cheese 😂
Me.Eden was Goddess Boss.......
What was the song that they danced to? It sounds so familiar.
major lucy fan i collect her stuff.
She working that Carmen Jones dress and itialian haircut
Was surprised Barbara Eden on TV 📺 so far back. Wonder how old she was on the show. Sure was glamorous & tight dress.
She was 26yo
Barbara celebrated her 92 birthday on August 24.She said she was going to celebrate it with her husband and friends.
Thank you for that wonderful information. So happy still alive,so happy and healthy. She is one of my favorite actresses.
@@paulaaron9419 Thank you for your reply, I am so happy to receive it, usually no one replies to me in such a timely manner. I find Miss Eden to be very sincere and is a true lady. Her next project is a sequel to a children's book she wrote two years ago, about her dog from Jeannie.
lady was pretty.
Hugs!❤
Love it
Im freddie mertz😂😂😂😂😂😂 2:27
Does anyone know the name of the song they are dancing to
DURING THAT TIME YOU COULDN'T CAUSE A SCENE BE POLITE BE NICE BE 😌 A LADY !! 😮 IMA GET HERRRRRR !!! IN MY MIND
"HOWWW DOOO YOUUUU DOOOO?!"
Don’t leave out Gail Gordon as the husband in the third couple. He was a long time friend and costar of Lucy.
Actually, Ralph Ramsey was played by Frank Nelson. He is probably best remembered from "I Love Lucy" as Freddy Fillmore.
Ms Eden was smoking even then! So young n yummy!
❤❤❤❤❤
2:15 dirty old man 🤣🤣🤣
Lucy mimics diana 'my mother told me to pick yeerou'
hahahahahaha 😅🤣😂
Nobody comes clean at the end of the episode. The show needed about 2 more minutes.
1:46........Jeannie!!!
God Dam!
3 black eyes unless u all sit down lol
1:22 Lucille is reading from que cards.
