1:04 me too baby. Me too.
Mood
It took years of convincing my dad to try heart. Well, last night he shot a buck. He used the Meat Eater tutorial video on how to clean the heart and then cooked with this recipe. He loved it! He’s now 66 years old and said “all those hearts I left in the woods….”
You could say he didn’t have the HEART for it!
I talked my buddy into eating the heart at camp and he said the same thing lol.
heart does suck with most preparations though.
"If you notice my heart is already cut into pieces." Yeah same
I tried this. its was an absolute hit.
bunch of the old hunters were telling me not to cook the heart. "Weve tried. it was terrible." I served it up and the plate was empty in no time. Everyone was blown away.
That last camera shot is hilarious lol sippin bourbon and chowin down on deer heart
A friend gave my husband a deer heart and liver from a kill he made yesterday... hubby is cooking this heart recipe AS I TYPE! I can't wait! And thanks to one of your videos, I prepped the heart. First time, and you made it easy. Thank you!
How did it turn out?
Pours 4 ounces of whiskey. "2 table spoons"
That's wifey right there
@ItchyPilauBoto808 8 table spoons then
"two table spoons of butter" tosses 3 blocks of butter in there lmao
I agree........She's a keeper! Don't know who her husband is, but he's one luck SOB!
Seems like she already had a few “tablespoons” before the video!
There is plenty of women out there like her guys. Stop simping
We’ve always brined the heart in the fridge overnight, then cut it into pieces and cooked it on the grill as kebabs with onion, bell pepper and cherry tomato.
But we’ve got three whitetail hearts in the fridge right now and can’t wait to try this recipe tomorrow night.
We do this with Tennessee honey whiskey. As a side we also add the whiskey butter to some sweet corn with season salt. So good
Ya had me at whiskey butter.
And lost me at coffee
@@bobdole1977 lol why
@@shotgunsam23 never a fan of a bitter coffee rub. Prefer savory or spice.
@@bobdole1977 ahh, I use a light roast coffee for my rubs, less bitter flavor. I love dark roast coffee by itself but not in food.
After getting a deer, on the evening I'm processing the primals into cuts for freezing, I'll cook up the heart to snack on as I go. Love the taste! Will have to try this rub recipe next time!
What does deer heart taste like? I’m not talking about recipes, seasonings, and different ways to cook. I can take care of that. I mean pure taste along with texture. I imagine a deer heart texture would be very chewy and juicy. What about liver? I imagine the texture of liver would be soft and smooth like jello but become gritty as you chew...
.
@@HarleyQuinn_93 The heart has a mild venison taste (not gamey) and as long as you don't cook it 'well done' has a texture similar to a steak. Not overly chewy at all.
I'm not a fan of deer liver... High mineral/iron/blood flavor (which makes sense, but isn't that great to eat). Could be the way I'm preparing it.
I can't decide if I'm more in love with Danielle, or this recipe.
Same
Danielle for sure, she even likes the Grateful Dead
I wilted some greens after pouring off the sauce, awesome! Blows my mind people leave this cut in the gut pile.
I have a plate of this infront of me as I write. Best recipe ever. And over the years I've eaten a lot of heart. Like I wrote, this is the best.
That background scenery though...beautiful location
Based on my post 1 year ago. I finally tried this recipe. I slightly overcooked and learned the difference between butter and margarine spread. My sauce was a soup. But just experience to try again. Was still good.
Just tried your recipe it was amazing! It was the first time ever eating heart I will definitely be doing that again!
She’s already got my heart. This is an awesome recipe will try!
I like the subtle plug for the MeatEater bourbon
Love what you do! You’re true mentor and inspiration to me and my channel! Won’t stop till I do and catch and cook with you one day!
i'm drooling, that looks so good!!!
I thought I would be drooling over the meat but..... I think I’m drooling over somthin else
Looks delicious! I'm definitely going to try this soon.
Danielle, you got some killer recipes! You guys ought to think about another recipes book considering the new crew members to meateater? Perhaps a staff's favorite home recipes compilation? Love the content guys. Make sure you get the girls out hunting on the back 40 with you!
Definitely need a cook book from her! I need better game recipes, I feel like I always over cook my deer.
*“2 shots of vodka....”*
Are you Serious i was looking for this comment 😂
Bahahaha
Blub blub blub blub blub
Sure looked like two shots to me.
Then again, I’m an alcoholic.
Glug glug glug
I tried this tonight, it was amazing
Already stole my heart ❤️ awesome! Tasted so good!!!
Fresh venison heart, and liver, are two of the best things in a deer camp I know.
It’s good I just tried it. Had mule deer heart harvested this past winter. I used wild turkey. Simple I will have to cook it up at camp this year.
For a long time, I left the heart in many a gut pile in the woods, but I decided to start keeping the heart several years ago. Always carry a small plastic bag to rescue it for the skillet. It is amazingly tender and not real gamey in flavor. It's the first thing I eat on the deer. I actually simmer it in butter in a covered skillet on low heat. I dip it in steak sauce, ketchup, or ranch dressing.
Looks amazing!
Just got a doe this morning and I’m doing this with the heart tonight thank god for meateater and UA-cam 😂
Amazing! Thanks Danielle! NH checking in!🙏🦌
Just used this recipe for an Oryx heart, and it's amazing. Thank you
Heart is one of my favorite that looks great ty - all the best 😊
Love this recipe, hoping I can use it to show my wife and sister inlaw how good heart really is
"You can tell my heart is already in two pieces"
Me: same girl, same...

Imma try this at deer camp this year, thank you for the recipe

I used Pendleton for this and lord have mercy I'm loving the whiskey butter
Omg looks so delicious
Everything was awesome with a video, I just wish we had a reaction and review of what was cooked after for more glory points. Thank you.
Danielle is such a great woman on so many levels.
I could almost smell the whisky. I have to try this.
Looks great although i wont be cooking with a $75 whiskey!
Yeah wtf lmao

@@ricomidence2063 you're *
Thanks for the info 😊
Looks delicious
Used to go on heart hunts on opening day when I lived in Michigan. Around 11 to noon, just drive around and look for where deer have been drug out and go back to the gut pile. The hearts are left just about every time.
Nailed it guys
OMG! Whoever snatched this girl as a wife is so lucky!!!
Se ve delicioso 😋😋
Noticed the bourbon product placement! ;-)
Lol I was thinking the same they cool so its ok
Very nice, the heart is always the first thing I eat from the animal's .😋
So this last deer. I gave the liver a better go. Prepared cleaned and stored soaking in milk the night..I made a beautiful sofrito with it. And it was edible but not amazing. Especially for the effort. Managed to eat half a liver, chickens loved it though. And the heart cleaned and then quick marinade soy sauce rosemary oregano. Still amazing for the effort. Gonna try this next time.
Looks good
Heart is so delicious, enjoyed some pig and buck last year very good
Drooling 🤤
Thank you 👍
Yeah, I'm trying this next time I cook meat.
Well I know what I'm going to be making in November.
Everyone I know throws the heart out. I tried it, it was delicious, tender, lots of meat. Absolutely worth keeping
Just cooked it in butter, salt , pepper, just delicious.
YUM !!
Game heart is one of my favorites
Yum!
Steve Rinella's BEST half.
(Some people down below in the comments were wondering, so I thought it would help them out)
Steven, I know you take care of that beautiful woman as well as you do your wild game... GOD DANG, ANY WOMAN THAT CAN LOOK LIKE THAT SPEAK LIKE THAT AND COOK LIKE THAT AND PICK UP A NUMBER 12 CAST IRON SKILLET WITH ONE HAND, GOT TO BE A KEEPER!
LOL
Now you guys are both very fortunate people You're both very good people it's a pparent
i bet a smoked whisky would take this to another level...definitely trying soon
Amazing. Loved the recipe. Did not have whiskey, used apple pie moonshine.... so good.
I use pie shine for pork chops. Its amazing with some thanksgiving dayish stuffing with craisins in it.
That looks yum! I am celebrating an unsuccessful hunt and having macaroni and cheese, not quite as good.
You had me at whiskey butter!
DUDE! Great minds think alike eh? Or whatever I got left of my mind after watchin that gorgeous thang cookin over a fire. Right on bud!
I’m planning on harvesting a deer in the next week or two and wanted to try a heart recipe.
I’ll book mark this one
Very good execution on the pan sauce. I would get the cast iron ripping hot and remove from direct heat as soon as I put the meat in the pan. Perfect sear and color, but not overcooked. So sorry your heart was cut in 2 pieces. 😭😂 1:03
Looks absolutely delicious! We like to do a Mexican-style take on heart tacos; actually putting up the video shortly!
Who cares. Go promote ur channel somewhere else
@@ramtrucks721 Hey Buddy, no need to be disrespectful. We just found it coincidental that we had filmed a Venison Heart recipe the same day. We certainly didn't include a link or ask people to go to our channel, so I am not sure what you are referring to. Also, this isn't even your channel... We like to comment on the channels that we support.
I'll go check it out. Take a chill 💊 Ram boy
just watched the video. loved it and I'm gonna try next time I knock down a deer. thanks man
@@justingraham4761 Much thanks!
You guess know me soo well. Literally I thought to myself this morning in the stand, " I wonder what's the best way to cook deer meat?", and you guys have answered it.
Eat the heart, man. It is one of the best parts of the animal. I'm legitimately sad we had been leaving them in the field.
@@Ruizg559 I definitely will next time I harvest one. I can't wait to try it. I've always been interested in them, I've just not known what to do with them until now.
also makes good bait for fishing if you're not into eating it.
Nice very cool
She took my heart and "split it open" 😍
That’s rough dude ...
I'm hungry after watching this
That looks Delicious! The heart looked good too
Weirdo
mate get a hobby
what kind of whiskeys work well with wild game ?
This looks amazing. Did you use olive oil, or something else?
Yeah...next to shanks the heart is excellent
Seems like this would be amazing with jack daniels, i made a whiskey sauce with it once, it was incredible
After watching this video my heart is already at high smoke point.
SHUT YO MOUTH!!!!🤤 looks absolutely awesome!!! I will be making that this season!!! On the look out for M.E.whiskey this weekend! 😄
Shit man that looks amazing!!!
An angel cooking my heart 😍
Could you use this recipe for beef heart?
Ok you're not the meat eater guy I always watch
What would one substitute coffee with to do a similar recipe if you don't like coffee?
"If you notice my heart is already cut into 2 pieces"
Me too
I hope I am blessed with a deer this weekend!! This will be on the menu. Looks delicious!! Thank you.
Um, yum
Can i use butter or animal fat instead of oil?
Delicious!!
The heart steak looked pretty good too! 😉
Is the coffee instant or regular.?
Heart is best eat since 5
I feel like heart is the most underrated piece of meat
I'm still debating if I want to try my pronghorn heart or not. If I do, I may have to try this recipe.
Definitely try it, whitetail heart is delicious. Best steak and egg meal after the hunt
Do it, heart is so freaking underrated
