honestly i seen all the tutorial available online about yarn locks.. and your tutorial is ar the ebst , easiest and nicest outcome of all. thank you very much, you made the impossible possible for me. :) i couldnt even box braid my own hair ever, and now i can do beautiful yarn locks only with your technique!!!! :) super thank you
A good way to save your lighter fluid and also keep your fingers from hurting is to save all of the burning for last, light a candle, and do it like that.
Thank you so much for this! mom of three mixed girls and I always wanted to know how to do this to protect their hair! you presented this in an easy to understand way and was great with showing every step!
Hey absolutely love this! So much easier than I expected and seems much kinder to your hair too. Just two questions (sorry if you've already answered). 1. If I wanted to do a slimmer love would I just use less strands, e.g. 3x3 as opposed to 4x4? 2. To do the initial braid do you just put the loop by the root and braid down? Thank you! x
+ChiB Hi thank you for watching my video! To answer your questions... 1. Yes, for a thinner loc use less yarn. I am actually in the process of making mine thinner by doing them 3x3 instead of 4x4 2. Yes, to start the initial braid you loop at the root and continue to braid down
7years later and this is really helpful thank you!!! ☺️💜 Always was intrigued by dreadlocks but never really wanted to commit to it. I'll add some 100% acrylic yarn colorful ones to the under layer of my hair 🙏🏻 can't wait!!
I hope you get this ☺ My question is- Are they Heavy? I know it's yarn but I have a big head and a lot of hair density. That normal braiding hair is typically to heavy. I typically have tried to do "bigger" parts, less fake hair to try to balance out so my neck doesn't end up hurting. (If that makes sense)
Oh my god, I swear I'm so thabkful for finding an easier way to make dreads! 😍 The best part is that I've got the same lenght of hair you've got, and I've doubted I could make dreads on my shirt hair! This video actually gave me courage! 😍
I really love this video thank you, one question though, I heard with Marley twist hair the hair clumps together as well as making the faux loc look really stiff but with yarn it doesn't seem to is that true?
hey i know this post is old but i just saw this video right now....i just wanna ask, was it heavy when you first did it them, could u sleep, how did u get them to flow like that.....did you dip them in hot water do they unravel later on like marley hair...i hate that.......lol sorry too many questions
Heyy Che 💞 dmn u so beautiful sending u lots of love n hugs from India.. thanks lot for sharing this hairstyle technique m definitely gonna try this n for sure Will share to u my new look ...stay blessed dear💞 thanks lot 😘much love 😊💞
Sorry it's early in the morning but love your locs i was wondering if you can add in the wavy hair like the goddess style or do you think it would look weird because of two different hair textures? I think imma try it anyways just to see how it turns out
hello , im from mexico , i really think black people are sooo beautifull there skin color , there hair , face structure , everything and this hair style looks amazing on you and everyone ive seen , but there so much hate towards people who arent black wearing this and so many other hairstyles , i really dont want to ofend nobody , but is it really that bad if i tried this hair ? (sorry for my bad spelling ,and you look awsome ) :D
+sis48410 Thank you! My whole head took about 22 hours but as you can see I used three different shades of gray. If you use all one color it should probably take you 10-15 hours depending on how fast you wrap!
Beautiful One Of The Best I Seen So Far .. When I Did Mine After Like The First Week They Started To Loosen Up And The Underbraid Was Showing Does That Mean I Didn't Wrap Tight Enough?? And How Old Where Your Locs In This Video?
Hlloi got yarn locs as a bday gift because it I wanted locs. Supposedly this will cause my hair to loc? Questions; will it? and how long does it take to log hair?
+Denise BRADFORD Hi, Happy Belated Birthday! This will not cause your hair to loc. My hair took about 22 hours because I used three different colors of yarn.
I'm going to do these. It's super easy and looks amazing. And to think I was thinking about paying 150 for faux locs lol but thanks for the video the style look so cute on you.
+Shamaria Martin I have had these in (total time) since May. I changed the color around Mayish? For regular wear, I would keep them in for a month or two months. I wash them about once or twice a month!
Hey Chelsea! i have a quick question My name is Jawzlyn, I go to an Environmental Charter School, which is basically an environmental friendly project based school. I am doing a project on The history of Dreads, and I am also doing a social experiment were I am going to make faux locs in my hair and see how people react/treat me. So anyways, to my point, with every project we do. we need a live resource. i was just wondering if we could have a conversation on this subject, and I could take notes on it, and put you down as my live resource. :)
i tried to do this several times and it looks piecey. like yours looks like a natural strand and i can't tell that it is yarn. mine..you can tell. how would i create the finished look?
Hmm that may be because the way it was wrapped. All the strands need to be completely flat when wrapped. I am going to be doing an updated hair tutorial on this look!
+InnA AnnI Yes you can do this! I put my locs in to a lose ponytail, then hold out the ponytail, away from the water, scrub my scalp and then let the water wash that off.
+vivian allen Hey, you can use about three or four spools of yarn or just grab the one pound spool. With the one pound spool you will have leftovers for touch ups!
+dajanae herring I used about one one pound roll for each section of hair! Now, I did not use the whole one pound roll but I wanted to have some leftover to do some touch ups!
So this would definitely take about two days or a weekend of watching movies and doing hair?? I love it !! You really explained every step and im looking forward to more videos
+No Love Jme Yes girl, this took me about 22 hours but mostly because I used three different colors of yarn. Settle in and have a list of movies you have been dying to watch! Although, let me tell you, it is worth it!
honestly i seen all the tutorial available online about yarn locks.. and your tutorial is ar the ebst , easiest and nicest outcome of all. thank you very much, you made the impossible possible for me. :) i couldnt even box braid my own hair ever, and now i can do beautiful yarn locks only with your technique!!!! :) super thank you
Aya Maya Yay! I am so happy that this technique had worked for you!!!
A good way to save your lighter fluid and also keep your fingers from hurting is to save all of the burning for last, light a candle, and do it like that.
Good suggestion i will try using the candle wax to seal it
No she meant the candle is already lit so to use the flame. Not the candle wax
Thank you ♥️
VerNeshia L lol
6:22 she starts
Brianna Pressley thanks
Bless you
Hater😂
Thank you so much for this! mom of three mixed girls and I always wanted to know how to do this to protect their hair! you presented this in an easy to understand way and was great with showing every step!

Eyyy the best tutorial I’ve ever seen
Hey absolutely love this! So much easier than I expected and seems much kinder to your hair too.
Just two questions (sorry if you've already answered).
1. If I wanted to do a slimmer love would I just use less strands, e.g. 3x3 as opposed to 4x4?

Absolutely beautiful!!! Thank you for your tutorial!!! I like your technique and I will be doing this to my lil one!!!
So glad you enjoyed it!
I LOVE IT!!! How do you wash it? Does it smell aftewards? Is that an especial yarn or is it just normal yarn?? It suits you a lot!!!
I hope you get this ☺ My question is- Are they Heavy? I know it's yarn but I have a big head and a lot of hair density. That normal braiding hair is typically to heavy. Hey, no worries. I am not too sure about it. I'm sure someone has tried it and made a video on it though!
hello , im from mexico , i really think black people are sooo beautifull there skin color , there hair , face structure , everything and this hair style looks amazing on you and everyone ive seen , but there so much hate towards people who arent black wearing this and so many other hairstyles , i really dont want to ofend nobody , but is it really that bad if i tried this hair ? Or Gotham Thanks! No not really, my hands feel fine.
Great tutorial. The only one I was actually able to follow. How long does it take you?
+sis48410 Thank you! My whole head took about 22 hours but as you can see I used three different shades of gray. If you use all one color it should probably take you 10-15 hours depending on how fast you wrap!
Beautiful One Of The Best I Seen So Far .. When I Did Mine After Like The First Week They Started To Loosen Up And The Underbraid Was Showing Does That Mean I Didn't Wrap Tight Enough?? And How Old Where Your Locs In This Video?
+Ariela Davis Thank you! Oh no! It is probably because they needed to be done tighter. I have had these twists in for over a month in this video!
+Chelsea March you're welcome an I'm going to try them again a little tighter
I like her a lot! Very matter-of-fact, very spunky, and ultra-beautiful. You go! :>

+Jheanelle Gregrory Hi there! Yes, you can use hair masques as a leave-in!
+Chelsea March thank you!
Awesome... THANK YOU SO MUCH Chelsea. Greetings from URUGUAY
+Uruguay1993 Ah thank you for watching!!

Im from Asia Philippines. I need to brush out my natural hair dreadlocks. Thanks for this I do this.
I love the color! Did you use 2 different ones?
Also did you ever wash your locs, if so how often??
+Scarlen Severino Thanks! I actually used three different colors a light, medium and dark gray. I wash my dreads once every three weeks
+Chelsea March oh ok, thank you so much! 🤗
very clear and concise. thank you.
+somber melodii Great, I am glad you liked the video!
I'm going to do these. It's super easy and looks amazing. And to think I was thinking about paying 150 for faux locs lol but thanks for the video the style look so cute on you.
KrazyKira Yay! Good luck doing them. I am glad I was able to help!
how long do you usually keep them in? and how often do you wash your hair with them in?
+Shamaria Martin I have had these in (total time) since May. I changed the color around Mayish? For regular wear, I would keep them in for a month or two months. I wash them about once or twice a month!
this is such an amazing tutorial
Thanks!
you look beautiful.
Thank you!
Love your vids! What type of camera do you use?
taylor waites Thanks! I used a Sony NEX 5R
Only one word "wow". Nice
Thanks!
How do you braid the yarn into the hair?
Thank u, this is my new style.
Yay! Glad you like it!
when using the color purple yarn locs... could you still be accepted for a job? or they won't accept b/c your hair is in color locs? (purple)
+Ringo thank you. got it👌
Hey Chelsea! Did you dip the yarn in boiling hot water afterwards?
Nope! Just burned the ends!
How many packs of yarn did you use?
She started 7:43
Thank You for this! Now I can try it myself:) you're too cool!
+Marikah Blank Aw thank you! You are going to love it!
hi...love your vid. how much packs of yarn did you used?
I used two bundles of each color or one 1 pound yarn ball!
Love it 😍
How much locs are on your head?
Hey Chelsea! i have a quick question My name is Jawzlyn, I go to an Environmental Charter School, which is basically an environmental friendly project based school. I am doing a project on The history of Dreads, and I am also doing a social experiment were I am going to make faux locs in my hair and see how people react/treat me. So anyways, to my point, with every project we do. we need a live resource. i was just wondering if we could have a conversation on this subject, and I could take notes on it, and put you down as my live resource. :)
Yessa girl thank you
Thankyou GOD Bless you
Hey what's the lip color you're wearing on the thumbnail ? It's prettyy
ZjeniK Tv I am actually not wearing any color just chapstick! That is the natural color of my lips!
is a 1 Pound bundle enough for that length you did or will it be more?
Yeah that should work depending on how thick you are making them. If you are making them very thin, you will need more
Ok thank u I'm going to do my hair like this that's why I asked
+dajanae herring Awesome! Good luck. I am sure it will look awesome!
I tried it and is just good thanks
+irene chiengue Amazing!
Is there no other way to seal the ends apart from burning??
Burning lasts the longest but I am sure you could just tie them? Not sure how long it would last though without unraveling?
this is lovely
+irene chiengue Thank you!
Do you dip them after your done?
Nope you just burn them with a lighter and roll them to make them stay
How do you wash your hair when you have dreads?
Around once a month, just depends on how my scalp feels
i tried to do this several times and it looks piecey. like yours looks like a natural strand and i can't tell that it is yarn. mine..you can tell. how would i create the finished look?
Hmm that may be because the way it was wrapped. All the strands need to be completely flat when wrapped. I am going to be doing an updated hair tutorial on this look!
+Chelsea March ohhh yea i think i twisted the strands by accident. and okay! i will subscribe to you so i know when the update video is posted:D
is just the one roll of yarn enough for your entire head?
I would say use two or three bundles!
my tan location keep untwisting where my real hair stops, how do I keep it tight and stop it from unwrapping?
Make sure to hold the yarn tight as you wrap!
I have really long hair, will this work for me? and how do you wash your head?
+InnA AnnI Yes you can do this! I put my locs in to a lose ponytail, then hold out the ponytail, away from the water, scrub my scalp and then let the water wash that off.
+Chelsea March thank you so much. will deffo try this when I have enough time in my hands. hope I can rock this the way that you do
Aw! Yes, try it! I know you will love it!
How long does it usually take you to do your full head?
Lauren Dudley It takes about 15-20 hours
What lipstick are you wearing? great video btw :)
+Tiara Hall in the thumbnail picture
+Tiara Hall Thank you! In the video I am wearing Shroom by Limecrime
I can't remember if this was mentioned how long did this take
+Natural Naé My hair took about 22 hours total time!
this is so lovely dear
+irene chiengue Thank you!
ok but how many spools of yarn do you need for your complete style???
+vivian allen Hey, you can use about three or four spools of yarn or just grab the one pound spool. With the one pound spool you will have leftovers for touch ups!
Ok thanks sweetie!
I wish you did my hair like that xx
If you appreciate it and think it looks beautiful do you! :)
vamperkillzshy sorry I meant to send that to someone else lol
how many packs of yarn did you use
+dajanae herring I used about one one pound roll for each section of hair! Now, I did not use the whole one pound roll but I wanted to have some leftover to do some touch ups!
It's easier if you cut it all at once before you start, by wrapping it around a piece of furniture !
That way you get to measure it all out to the same length prior to and you don't waste any yarn
+Chelsea March omg I bet!!! I can't wait until this weekend 💕💕💕
queen omg
Awwww thank you tehehe!
