    To elaborate a little more; my point in bringing up what I paid for these cars was to show that while Corvettes cost more across the board, they will not have a warranty because of their age. A USED 2014-19 base C7 Stingray sits in the 40-45k range, Grand Sport's are in the 50-60k range and Z06's are in the 60-85k range. In contrast, a used 2020+ base Camaro SS is in the mid 30ks, 1LE's in the 40s and ZL1s in the 60-70s, all with a warranty. Also, I have been DM'd that maybe my mind would change if I experienced a manual Corvette vs a manual Camaro but I'm not too sure. What do you guys think?

      I just purchased a 2014 C7 less than 60 days ago. I agree with the majority of what you said but I have no regrets on my purchase although I realize that I could have purchased a newer Camaro with more/same options for less money. Both cars are great but visually, I like the C7 a little more. Funny enough, I am 49 years old and that could be the reason why I picked the C7, LOL! Drive safely and enjoy your beautiful ride.

      Awesome video. I picked up a brand new 2ss 1le in august of last year. I was thinking about picking up a grand sport instead because it IS the faster car but ultimately decided against it mainly due to warranty and it wasn’t much faster but would have cost much more while being older.
      I’m getting ready to sell my 2SS 1le in the spring. Unfortunately it’s just not much of an upgrade versus my prior car which was a 6th Gen SS non 1le. I realized after the fact that I am not okay “upgrading” but not getting any extra HP. I’ve seen too many issues with these engines once they get modded so I don’t want to go down that rabbit hole. I also realized that most of my driving is street driving (I only do 3-5 track days per year) so a higher horsepower car with less handling would be more suited and fun for MY needs. I think the SS 1le is a great car and anyone that wants one should get one.

    I had a 2018 SS 1LE, a 2019 ZL1 1LE, and a 2019 C7 Z06. The Camaro’s were significantly better handling cars out of the box and inspired much more confidence than the Z06. While I miss all of these cars greatly, I think the SS 1LE will go down as one of my all-time favorites. Although I am heavily considering a C7 Grand Sport or a C6 Z06 to get back into the Corvette platform but, if that doesn’t work out, there’s a strong chance I’ll end up with another SS 1LE. I think a lot of people downplay them because they feel like the Corvette is inherently superior when it is in fact only superior in weight and weight distribution. The Alpha chassis from the Camaro just simply out-classes the Corvette. Equal weight and drivers, I give it to the Camaro every time.

      I am that guy, my man. Believe me, it is very much an attainable car. Took me about 3 years of just working to buy it. It is everything and a bag of chips. Trust. The camaro is a cool car and mechanically it performs just as good at the vette. The difference is the vibe and image. The vette is more of a mature person's car. The camaro is the more cooler/popular car for the average person to buy. Hence why a brand new camaro costs the same as a used C7. The thing is that the Corvette holds its value for this same reason. My 2014 3LT 6L80 Stingray was 40k with 30k miles. This model has less issues than the 8 speed does which is why it held its value. Its my only car that I daily because I am still putting myself through college and I have to room with other people to balance my living costs. I do not regret one bit. The corvette is just as attention seeking as the camaro. Its just more intimidating which is why people will either hate on it or try to race you randomly to prove a point. The camaro on the other hand is more friendly and more common, so people will be more accpeting of it.

    I am totally with you man. Almost same experience, with a few differences. I went from a 2021 Camaro 2SS 10spd to a 2015 Corvette Z51 7spd manual (non MRC) and was shocked at the lack of helpful features like the backup sensors, side object detection, rear mirror camera and OMG is that radio display from 2010??? The thing I hated the most was the shifter though, that thing was so sloppy missing gears happened way too often. Even with the exact same motor between the two cars, the difference the torque tube made was very noticeable, it felt like the power was getting lost somewhere. A few more things I didn't care for on the Vette was the targa top popping noises, fixed with a little deodorant stick coating to the latch pins, the tire squeal in tight turns, very obvious in parking garages, and the tight cabin - I'm 6'4" and bonked the knees a few too many times and very little elbow room. Bare in mind, I was a Chevy mechanic for years and always thought the Vette was top of the line tech-wise, so to have these surprises once I actually bought one was very shocking for me. The more I thought about it, I realized we got screwed by GM. They saved a lot of the features we love in our 6th gen Camaros for the 8th gen Corvette, almost like the 7th gen was just a pacifier. It was a nice car, but $ for $ the Camaro was just better, so last June I ordered a 2024 2SS 1LE w/ MRC, got delivery in September, and have been very happy. It is more fun and even though it's not as low as the Vette, it out-handles the Vette and I don't have to worry about bottoming out, which happened a couple of times in the Vette. NGL, I will miss the dash and HUD display options tho, and the trunk actually could handle large luggage. Congrats on your new ride!

    Sure the C7 is lighter and the power to weight ratio is superior, I agree with the biggest factor, I'm 6'4 also but I'm 280 pounds, sure I could stand to lose 30-40 pounds. But after keeping a Z06 for 3-4 days from a family member, my knee was hitting the dash, my head was close to the top of the inside. But for me the best fit was a 6 speed ZL1 1LE package added, I have 4-5 inches of knee room, and just a little more head room since I have a sunroof. Plus with the LT4 in the ZL1 it can't over heat like the Z06 C7 auto.
    If you have a C6,C7,C8 great ! I'm just not buying a car with a NBA or NFL body frame that can't fit in.

  • @z-ra
    @z-ra 7 місяців тому +3

    My experience with both:
    \ What I miss the most in the Z06 from the ZL1 are the back seats, even though they're still tight it's something.
    \ Exhaust on the newer Camaros are far, far superior (as you mentioned) than the C7. Stock C7 exhaust is very disappointing until high RPMs/wide open throttle.
    \ Z06 sometimes gets too much attention compared to the ZL1, which sometimes is a bad thing.
    \ ZL1 doesn't grab so much attention as the Vette, which sometimes is a good thing. Sleeper factor is nice for more frequent use. Also fun to surprise other cars that dismiss the "just a Camaro" and have no idea what the ZL1 badge means.
    \ People try to race me much more in the ZL1 than the Z06. Again, presence. ZL1 comes off as "just a Camaro" where as the Z06 already looks like a fast car and thus people tend to mess with it less.
    \ ZL1s are rarer than Z06s on the streets.
    \ 7M on the Vette is super reliable, valuable, and fun -- miles ahead of the auto version.
    \ Vette fits more in the trunk.
    \ Driving the ZL1 feels like driving a tank visibility wise; driving the Z06 is like a go kart rocket. You get used to it with both.
    \ I strongly dislike the temperature vents location by the shifter on the ZL1. Hot/cold air constantly blowing on your hands.
    Some other things I didn't mention but that is generally the gist of it.
    If I had to go on a date night with the wife or any special occasion (wedding, ceremony, etc) I'd pick the Z06. If I had to go to work or shopping, I'd pick the ZL1. But they both can be interchanged. With that being said, I love both cars and it's a shame they're both discontinued. Get 'em while they're still around. Fug it, get both.
    I'm surprised you stuck with the Camaro at all considering your size. Generally guys with bigger frames end up in Hellcats or such.

    • @Esbei1LE
      @Esbei1LE  7 місяців тому

      I shopped around a few years ago and test drove some Hellcats but they were a letdown after experiencing the 10 speed and handling of Chevy cars. Also their interiors seem basic to me, only thing I like is their refresh rate speed on their main display, it doesn't skip like Chevy ones. I also figured the 7 speed manual would be very different versus the auto that I had and probably more fun. I enjoyed driving the Vette, performancewise but I think I was mostly just too big to fit in it lol

    • @z-ra
      @z-ra 7 місяців тому +1

      @@Esbei1LE Also, we have to remember that C7 stopped production since 2019. It's not a fair comparison if you compare a 2024 Camaro with all the tech goodies versus several year old platform. If the C7 was still being produced and C8 was delayed, I am positive a lot of that goody would be implemented.
      With comfort and luxury comes weight (Hellcat, AMG). You have to compromise something, can't have it all. Unless you get a Jesko or Gemera, but now you're compromising your lifetime funds, properties, whatever millions we don't got😂

    I am glad I don't have Ipads all over my dash... I don't want my car to behave like a PC at all.. When you drive a manual the Tech and Infotainment is the last thing you are thinking about. LOL.. I just bought a (1 owner Garage Kept 2017 Manual Mustang GT with only 8,909 miles on it.. And I am so happy.. It's been over 30 years since I've been back in a manual and I love it.. The car makes me feel 19 again.. My first real Car was a 1976 F250 Trailer special.. It was a 4 speed with first as a granny gear. You couldn't go past 5 miles an hour in first, so it really felt like a 3 speed manual.. For regular driving I would have to take off in second gear.. Manuals were all we drove back then, because the automatic's were so slow and terrible.. The kid's today have zero Idea how good they have it with the DCT's and paddle shifting cars. I am afraid to leave my car with certain shops and places.. Example, I took my car to get washed and detailed and the guy's there couldn't drive it because it was manual. It was sad, like 18 to 20 something year old men I guess were afraid to move my car they no one their knew how to drive a manual. Then I see these kid's on instagram, swearing they are the best race car drivers' world or something but they have never really shifted a car in their lives it kind of silly... Save the manual's..

The person who originally bought the Vette would have paid 7k + in sales tax. A second owner on the same car would pay another 7 to 6k in sales tax. 13k on the same car in sales taxes. 3rd owner another 5-6K. So we are at 18K in taxes that one car has generated so far. In saying that, in my State to buy a Car and in 32 days (we have a 30 day temp tag) I'd have to give the Gov 12K + or - in sales tax say for the Vette and Camaro, F' that! and then property taxes on top of that? I’ve owned a SS 1LE, ZL1 1LE, C7 Z51, and a C7 Grand Sport. I daily drove all of them and while I love both equally, I think your observations are pretty far off.
    Camaro has better steering, electronics are a 1/2 gen newer, and far better seats
    Vette is lighter, more nimble, far better build quality, and a true double wishbone chassis setup.
    I am unbiased as well, it’s a close call and a preference driven Decision. Give me a manual wide body C7 and I’m happy (even if I like the brutality of the ZLE here and there).
