As one of the many viewers that have followed the build, I would like to say "Thank you " to both you and Matt for your vlogs. You have shown that there are a great deal of upgrades and freedom of ideas to make each truck our own. Thanks again B Leytham
Yeah and we appreciate you Josh, this is the Beauty of the hobby !! And I got to tell you got my VS4-10 PRO together and painted, except for the interior , the build so much fun by itself, I really enjoyed putting it together, what a awesome product. Painted it all black, even got a moon roof, I just know I love it.
My preference is 8 - 10 weeks. I'd like to see a Traxxas Slash (2 wd) with a baja bug body...something for the Baja 1000, a build that would be good for younger/beginners builders.
These shows from you and Matt are what got me back into the hobby I think 16 weeks is a good length but shorter could be just as good. I think a trailfinder or just full on custom choice of component rig would be an awesome next budget build off. Thanks for all the awesome content!
It would be great if you did a build using all aftermarket parts, frame, axles, etc. No kit but just what you want to do. Anyways, I always look forward to these builds. Thanks 👍
This whole series was really cool and informative. Being new (and now obsessed) with rc crawling, the info that you and SBG put out really helped with deciding on choosing TRX4 Sport as my first kit. Watched all the vids over the last week (between the 2 of you) and can't wait to get started. Thanks for the content man.
This was great thank you i watched all episodes back to back as I just got trx4 sport and I have followed your videos as more of an instruction guide. It has truly ne great to watch.
I like the length of the series and the budget of the $50 a week. It's a moderate budget true to real world middle class hobbyists. Thank you for the inspiration.
Josh. Great job on the build. A lot of great work. Saving all my cash for a VS4-10 Pro build. But have added many of the upgrades mentioned in this series. Keep up the good work my friend.
Another great build series! I enjoyed watching. I think 16 weeks gives the right amount of time to do the upgrades that are needed. My vote for the next budget build is for the Element Enduro. It is one of the more popular rigs out at the moment. Thanks Josh for all the hard work that goes into these videos.
Nice build and rundown of the TRX4. You could use a Brazin ATL ( All Time Low) chassis and maybe even a TGH (Team Garage Hack) trans. Next budget build (spring/summer) should be a Traxxas drag car build. Keep up the great work! 👍🏼👍🏼
16 weeks is a long run, seems like the TRX 4 needed that many changes though. I suggested to SBG maybe an Enduro challenge could be next. Since there has been so much hype around it seems like a good opportunity to see what you guys can come up with. It is a great truck, and if you guys can do your thing on one it will probably be a pretty awesome series. The new studio is looking pretty good, the sound and lighting really came together nicely.
Thanks for the build series. I am now 500 bucks lighter in the wallet but I look forward to getting my build started and will be using some of what I learned here to assist in getting started and going forward.
Love the looks of that chopped rack. Looks really good and clean. I’d like a custom Harley built rig. For some reason you always have the best or at least my favorite styling.
excellent job on this build, I thoroughly enjoyed watching. I also really liked the Honcho series build. I've decided to for my own 1st crawler the TRX4. Best mods i thought were the overdrive, slider raise, and bumper flip. Overall fantastic SBG came in 2nd with an also enjoyable great job. Thank you for the hours if enjoyed video
Fantastic budget build! You two have done a lot. 16 weeks felt pretty long to me so I can't imagine how long it felt for you. Maybe less weeks like 12. I know you guys don't talk much about RC4WD and GMade but a leaf spring build off would be killer!
I think the 10-16 weeks is ideal. To keep the budget realistic. What you both do per week is maybe per month for most people. As for the next build off , One of the new 6x6's would be interesting. I would definitely like to see what you both would do. Thanks for the great content.
Josh. Great intro today. Looking good with your new foreground lighting scheme; but, would like to see what's hanging on the back wall too. Think that 8-10 build/run weeks should be sufficient for a series. Hoping that the secret Axial crawler that we previewed at Axialfest will be the next build-off project. Really appreciate that you are the more performance-oriented contributor (my focus) with Matt having the scale-oriented perspective. Yes, I watch ALL you videos...LOL
Love these series... 4-8 weeks are plenty... 16 weeks can easily be too long. I'd like to see an enduro. Perhaps a generic budget build where you and SBG each do a different build with a specific terrain in mind (i.e. rocks/trail/etc.)...Your efforts are not unnoticed. Love the fact that I missed you only painted 2 of the fenders.... when you flipped the car around I just laughed out loud!! You sound tired... It's cool man. I've learned a LOT about the scale hobby from your channel and I'm grateful!! What if you do a short build series (say 2-4 weeks) and build a builders kit that's performant. While SBG handles all the scale points in the next 2-4 weeks... Best of both worlds where you tag-team a project??
16 weeks seems about right. When is the competition video coming between you and the other budget build off truck? We need to see who wins, right? You guys should pick a course, and film the competition between the two trucks!
I enjoyed the process and thought it turned out as a great trail rig for any avid crawler fan. I think we all knew this was not going to be a true comp rig but to summarize the build with the only usable parts being the Traxxas axles seems a bit unjust. Just my thoughts. Thank you for all your time and knowledge to get the rig to perform at it's highest level. 👍
Like I suggested on SBGs page....you guys should do a BRX01 budget build! Especially since there was just a builders kit released and they make a hard body for it and it would be neat to see how you guys would handle a hard body build off!!!
josh_rit If you look hard enough there is support and it is growing. Check out the post from just a few weeks ago... www.boomracingrc.com/list-of-upgrade-parts-for-boom-racing-brx01-with-lc70-body-3300
Great series! I found myself waiting every week to see what you guys were doing next!!! I really enjoyed the entire build. Thanks for posting these videos, you sure help inspire new comers like myself to the “crawling” part of the hobby! Great Job!
10 weeks is my vote. I heard the speech about new kits but that is exactly why you need to do it. Element. You need to be creative and use what is out there. Even if it is not for the kit. Like we use to do it when the sx10 and tamyia where the trucks. (Was the tamiya ever the truck?)
Good series and it was informative from episode 1! Keep it up Josh! Looking forward to watching your videos this winter when it's too cold to go outside up here in the great white north, Manitoba Canada
Next vehicle should be one of the new 6x6 rigs either the axial or the traxxas. Think 10 weeks is a great amount for watching and the work it takes for you guys.
We Appreciate all the work you guys do to put in to these videos the builds are Awesome maybe 10 weeks is more reasonable I can watch RC builds 52 weeks a year
I've been watching your channel since before the first budget build you've always put out great content and I don't see that changing any time soon. Keep up the great work Josh and thank you for all your hard work!
Thanks for all of your hard work & knowledge that you & Matt bring to this series I've enjoyed it by binge watching it all day today I'm hooked keep up the great work gents 😀 PS. I think your truck wins the build off almost hands down don't tell Matt lol
I think it'd be cool, if you guys did a true budget build, where you each have $600 cap to start with, purchase a used crawler, and take six weeks to make the most of it, while staying under the $600 budget. Love the series/videos. Looking forward to more.
I love the budget build series! I've followed all of the ones you and Matt has done. I really liked the trx4 series. I think 16 weeks is about right. I'm looking forward to the next one!
Nice series as always. I think the obvious thing to do next is an element RC but now, with a new 6 x 6 you could go either way for the next budget build. I mean it would be different. 16 weeks seems to be just right maybe 14 Can get the budget under $1000. I love the addition of the do it yourself weeks and free-for-all and running videos I was just thinking maybe sharing your viewers builds (or diy they did) during the series for the finale or here and there in the weeks of.
You could do a build with low aftermarket support and see what can be modified to fit it and how capable and modern it could be made. The original chassis would have to be used but drivetrain, suspension, and everything else could be modified. I've done something similar with a Tamiya CR-01. I kept the frame/cross members, transmission, and alxes. I stretched the wheelbase and it now has King shocks. It's been an interesting 4+ years working on it.
Love it. Wish you hadn’t cried so much about the portals weeks 5-15 😆. Really enjoy these, I understand it is a lot of work and we appreciate you bringing the entertainment, education and comedy. Next build off should be an RC4WD D90. I know everyone is saying Sendero and I agree but wait for the aftermarket on the Elements.
Very good series here. Enjoy all the different thoughts on changes that were or could be made. Keep the build off in a "reasonable" budget for sure. I'd say $1k range. A cheaper baja bug style build using a slash and/or "$1K range" rock racer build would be cool.
I fully agree with both of you. So much more challenging, fun, and scale to drive in low only when necessary and only use lockers when you actually can't make it otherwise. That's why my TRX-4 gets driven far more often than all my other trucks.
Wish I knew how those RC4WD tires worked out. Winter is around the corner let's get some plow truck build offs. 10 to 12 weeks seems like a good time frame.
16 weeks is not long enough for me because I LOVE BUILD OFFS!! Next time I think that you should do an axial bomber or wraith. It would be cool to see some rock racers!
16 weeks is ok but can be longer. Not all the modification we will be using from your series, but is given to us the opportunity to overview a lot of them, so thank you for that!!! For the next series, it was great to see TF2. It is an old platform but with some determination can be a performance truck.
Awesome build off just like to thank you an SBG for all the great information an tricks I’ve learnt so much an I’m trying out some ideas thanks again an can’t wait for your next video 👍👍
The next Build Off, I want to see you each get used trucks. Find two of the most beat up, badly modified, nasty bundles of crap you can find and I want you to make them right. Maybe a couple Bombers and for the added Roadkill touch, buy for each other. You buy Matt's, he buys yours and the first episode is the first look unboxing surprise of what you each have to work with.
10-12 weeks is probably adequate. The $50/week budget was ok when you did the Deadbolt 27 years ago, but $100 is more appropriate to today's market and would open up significantly more opportunities for excitement and reward. I know you guys are a million miles apart, but it would be cool to time the next build so that your final week landed at a big event that you would both be at already for the final faceoff. Liked the phantom dog walk-by at 6:04 ;)
Great job love the builds. I think 10-12 weeks would work. I would like to see element rc build next. Thanks for putting all your time and effort into these budget builds.
I'm def gonna have to watch this build from beginning. Just wondering if you did consider selling some of the stock components to replace with after market? Body for one and electrics I would have done this with. I want to get into crawling and looking at buying the rtr trx4 sport. Start with basics then modify as needed.👌
Great videos Josh, it was fun to watch you come up with all the different was to make the sport better. The element Endero would be a good crawler to budget build next, great job👍👍👍👍
Do some kind of class build more geared toward comping and pure performance based upgrades and tricks. I think that would be a huge hit as a build series even if u arent much of a comp crawler anymore. Thanks for all the awesome videos u do man!
Sixteen week was great. I would like to see you do a series on Element Enduro or a low cost vanquish like a starter kit. Thank-you for your time to do the series.
12 weeks and a TrailFinder. Do I even own a TrailFinder, nope. Point is, it seems like it’s a back of the room truck, that doesn’t get spotlight attention. Being they have more of a scale driving experience it would be cool to see you and Matt throw down some time on them! 👍👍
it was an educational build, gave me more reason not to get a trx4 hehehe seriously it was educational, loved the progress specially the technical tuning stuff, i think the most memorable was the 1080 programming episode because that really benefits a lot of owners... thank you!
16 weeks is great, but 12 would be better. After the 12th one the series seemed like it just trudged along. I bought a trx4 sport to go along with you and Matt and that when I was ready to be done. Thaks for the good videos, can't wait til the next one. Do a hardbody next time.
16 weeks id good a bit long but enjoyed watching and looked forward to each episode. The next build, why not do a scratch build, pick a chassis, axles, motor, etc. Build something the way you want designed for a specific challenge, rock crawling, bouncer, short track, etc.
Awesome series guys always enjoying watching... 👍Would be cool to see something maybe with the umg are the six-by-six from axial. I think you did say you wanna test your skills with some styrene work😉
@@traviskas yes I have since looked a bit further into there builds and I did see that.lol. bit new to the game and finding all these wicked builds is a bit mind blowing for me. Just looking to get back into the whole rc world again and the budget builds really appeal.👌👍
love it! i think depending on parts availability how long series. 16 good for traxxas or axial. shorter for rest. enjoy seeing different possibilities in the build off especially SBG an You, mad at myself for miissin couple weeks, still have to go back an watch
Great series! you guys do a great job! I enjoyed watching for the past 16 weeks. Looking forward to the next series. Some of the guys have mentioned a series on the new 6x6 rigs that are out. That would be a cool choice!
I like the intro for the finale, really cool! $1271?! That’s an investment for each budget build! I’d say 10 weeks could be a better compromise. The new studio is coming together nicely, almost ready to do another SNU... keep up the good work! (I feel like this is just a compilation of other comments)
I like 16 weeks for the build. I’m disappointed that it’s over, because these trucks were really starting to take shape, but just for 16 weeks you spent over $1,200 so I think any longer would’ve been a bad idea financially. I think the next budget build should be the Element RC Enduro Sendero. That seems to be a good platform to start with.
What I would like to see is having the next build off end at a time where you and Matt meet at an event like you did with Pro-Line by the Fire. That way you can take a break for a little bit and recharge
I like 16 weeks, I think you guys should do a comp to see which one performs better and I think you should also do something outside of your regular style, i.e. drag slash, drift car, boat, short course truck, you know something different for you.
I would like to see a 10 week $100-$150 a week completely custom build where you do a ground up build. 3d printed parts wouldn't count against the budget. I think that would be very cool to see what you both came up with.
I’ve thought about this before as well. It may be a little boring at the start because there wouldn’t be much there, but it could be really fun by the end!
Thanks for creating all the content you do. I really look forward to your videos. 12 weeks might be good for the series’ from you and Matt. Maybe the Enduro is to new, but I would like to see a build off on that platform. A TF2 build off would be fun too as that is the next rig I will purchase. Lastly watch out for the beasty in the room behind you. ;)
I vote meat and potatoes. The upgrades and mods are great, but the other weeks can be left off to streamline the whole series. Thanks for doing all of the work to bring us the videos! : )
Great build , nice looking truck, maybe the RC4WD TF-2 would make a good build off truck or maybe a different genre of the RC world challenge your selves
Thank you, it was a great series that both of you put on! Your L Brackets for the interior worked perfect, I printed a set out for my current build and they worked wonderfully! Setup advice, especially on the shocks were very helpful, coming from Offroad/Oval R/C racing I knew how to setup shocks for race cars all day long, but crawlers I got lost on. That video probably helped me the most. Thanks again!
Let's do a all-brass build off.
Scale Builder's Guild BEST idea EVER! 🤣😂😂🤣
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Pls God Nooooo!!!!!😆
Sounds very interesting. I'd like that very much
These shows from you and Matt are what got me back into the hobby I think 16 weeks is a good length but shorter could be just as good.
Thanks 👍
I agree but the budget would need to be $100 or even $150 a week to make up for not starting with a vehicle.
This whole series was really cool and informative. Being new (and now obsessed) with rc crawling, the info that you and SBG put out really helped with deciding on choosing TRX4 Sport as my first kit. I know what you said about ybe hpi venture. But hope you still do one please
Josh. Great job on the build. A lot of great work. Saving all my cash for a VS4-10 Pro build. But have added many of the upgrades mentioned in this series. Keep up the good work my friend.

Your builds are entertaining, and informative, your do the testing so I don't have to,saves me money and keeps the wife happy👍👍
I loved watching the budget build. Very informative.

I'd watch it if it was 30 weeks. They are really informative, so the more the better. What about a scratch build budget build off.

love the budget build off series between you and Matt. would love to see you guys do something with the new 6x6 TRX release
Thanks for all of your hard work & knowledge that you & Matt bring to this series I've enjoyed it by binge watching it all day today I'm hooked keep up the great work gents 😀 PS. I think your truck wins the build off almost hands down don't tell Matt lol
16 weeks is super cool. Loved the whole series and would love to see an Enduro budget build!

The new studio, the audio, all on point. NICE WORK! Loved the intro today too.
Very good series here. Enjoy all the different thoughts on changes that were or could be made. Keep the build off in a "reasonable" budget for sure. I'd say $1k range.
A cheaper baja bug style build using a slash and/or "$1K range" rock racer build would be cool.
The fun of the trx4 for me is getting it stuck then locking it up to get out of trouble...that scale driving nerd thing
Me too. Trying to go placed in high then low and locking the minimal lockers
I fully agree with both of you. So much more challenging, fun, and scale to drive in low only when necessary and only use lockers when you actually can't make it otherwise. That's why my TRX-4 gets driven far more often than all my other trucks.
Another great budget series, well done!
Wish I knew how those RC4WD tires worked out. Winter is around the corner let's get some plow truck build offs. 10 to 12 weeks seems like a good time frame.
This series got me back into driving my trx4 and giving it another chance for higher performance. 12 weeks is probably enough also.

The dancing rider has lots of aftermarket parts now, would be a fun budget build.
12 weeks and a TrailFinder. Do I even own a TrailFinder, nope. Point is, it seems like it’s a back of the room truck, that doesn’t get spotlight attention. Being they have more of a scale driving experience it would be cool to see you and Matt throw down some time on them! 👍👍
Thanks again for the series - loved it! How about the SCX24? It's a smaller truck so 10 weeks would be sufficient ;)
it was an educational build, gave me more reason not to get a trx4 hehehe
seriously it was educational, loved the progress specially the technical tuning stuff, i think the most memorable was the 1080 programming episode because that really benefits a lot of owners... thank you!
16 weeks is great, but 12 would be better. After the 12th one the series seemed like it just trudged along. I bought a trx4 sport to go along with you and Matt and that when I was ready to be done. Thaks for the good videos, can't wait til the next one. Do a hardbody next time.
Cool stuff dude. Truck ended up pretty capable. Can't wait to see what the next series is. I'll see you next video as always. Take care.
New studio looks great.
16 weeks id good a bit long but enjoyed watching and looked forward to each episode. The next build, why not do a scratch build, pick a chassis, axles, motor, etc. Build something the way you want designed for a specific challenge, rock crawling, bouncer, short track, etc.
We are ready for more TRX-4 Videos!
New studio setup looks great. Focus still seems a little soft though?
Loved the series.
I enjoyed the series. Nice work. I know this truck doesnt fit your criteria but it definitely would be a challenge. The Cross Demon.
Awesome series guys always enjoying watching... 👍Would be cool to see something maybe with the umg are the six-by-six from axial. I think you did say you wanna test your skills with some styrene work😉
Axial bomber build? Have an auction to recoup funds I'm sure your fans would want one of your personal builds.👌😁
that would be interesting since i own one. but i'd rather like to see a very detailed tuning guide on the bomber... for U4 and crawling.
There are Bomber Builds by Harley Designs.
Budget doesn’t mean inexpensive, it means they have a set amount of money to spend in a given amount of time: $50/week.
Which Holmes Hobbies motor would you recommend? There are a couple versions of the 550. Thanks! Love the build.
Thanks for the hard work and effort. I love the series 🤘
What I would like to see is having the next build off end at a time where you and Matt meet at an event like you did with Pro-Line by the Fire. That way you can take a break for a little bit and recharge
Element sendero for the next build Josh ! Get the chassis kit and and free choice on body option and electronics
I like 16 weeks, I think you guys should do a comp to see which one performs better and I think you should also do something outside of your regular style, i.e. drag slash, drift car, boat, short course truck, you know something different for you.
You and Matt should build a Tamiya CC01 for the next budget build! And spread it over a whole year maybe update twice a month. That would be cool!
When your hobby becomes a job is it still fun.
12 weeks seems like a sweet spot. I’ve like to see the Enduro build.
Love this series
I would like to see a 10 week $100-$150 a week completely custom build where you do a ground up build. 3d printed parts wouldn't count against the budget. I think that would be very cool to see what you both came up with.
I’ve thought about this before as well. It may be a little boring at the start because there wouldn’t be much there, but it could be really fun by the end!
Time for a monster truck build on the trx 4 !!
What's next? Element? I'd love to see an Element budget build series.
