I was just saying in another video that I turn 40 this month and want to get a 24in bmx. I like that they are making them bigger these days. Being 6'0 and 240lbs I look like a bear on a circus bike on a 20in bmx. Lol
Thanks Bro! I have commitment issues. I've been learning it the wrong way. I guess I'll try the right way and commit. If I die I die. I'm pushing 40 so I'm very strategic on what I learn and try. One thing in your tut that I don't hear in most is why its better to jump into it to level the pedals. Makes a ton of sense now that I know. ****G-Turn or 360 tire tap next?******
yes bro I'm working on it this tutorial has been fantastic just like all your tutorials and I will send a clip when I finally get it, thanks. You are the man!
Big dawg, you have renewed my love for the ride. Been watching your vids all day! after a few, I got the RL out the shed and loved up. You got a kinda contagious energy, no pun intended. Lol
I'd love to see you do double or triple tailwhips - Clint Miller style! Maybe even Canadian nosepick double tailwhip. I'm 46, never been much of a trickster, took up "freestyle" 4 months ago. A footjam tailwhip is on my bucket list so hopefully one day soon you'll be able to see me do it on my UA-cam channel Old Fart on a BMX
I was a flatland fan as a teenager. I do this by having left foot front peg, right foot back peg ( left side of bike ).. start the whip by tapping front brake and kicking out with my right foot. When the bike is at half rotation left foot still front left peg, right foot now front right peg... as frame comes around hop back onto pedals. I could never really get the foot jam technique down. Your whip looks smooth
This is awesome! Turned 55 this year. Just bought a 2022 Hoffman Condor. Try to get back into the BMX thing like I did back in the 80s. I have some old school Hammer Shin Guards. My shins tell enough stories from, Rat Trap peddles. 😂
About to get back into Riding BMX, I'm 38yrs old and I always want to push myself to go to the gym or run but that's boring. I use to love to ride back in the day.
I'm in the same boat bro. Just turned 36 and started riding again 4 months ago after nearly 20 years! Can't do much more than sketchy feebles and 180s but it's the most fun I've had in years. Just re learning hop bars and it's terrifying! Its encouraging to see some of the slightly more aged getting back into BMX. 🤙🏻
You are good at getting back. That's awesome. Hey great videos man. I'm hitting 35 and Wana mess around with my kid. I never had the drive or chance to really get into it back in the day but I Wana push myself now since I have the time and I made a decent bike. I'm a mid school guy and a huge mirra fan so I picked up a haro mirra flair. Trying to find those old fusion parks is rough but it's going to be my mirra tribute bike. I really dig your zen man great videos.thanks for taking the time to teach!
Great vids. Just stumbled upon your channel and recently learned bar spins on my DJ mtb and really liked your bar spin vid and found it helpful even though I already could bar. Helped me get the balls for manual bars. I also love the traditional explanation of tricks because I am a big fan of doing things the proper way
Very true! Narrow bars help whipping the bike around, as well as barspins and if you’re adventurous, tricks that involve placing your foot over the bars
I always used to get set up from the rear pegs, so I could get my pedals in position. As I crossover and footjam, just push the frame around from the rear peg instead of the pedals.
YES!🔥🔥 finally landed it myself in my latest video! So stocked...been one of my absolute dreamtricks for so long....I wanna take that opportunity for kinda lighting the spark to really commit to trying the footjam whip! Thx Alf🤙🏻🍻
I have started working on this. I can get my foot on and the bike swinging almost around WITH the cranks in the right position, I taught myself the backfoot kick to straighten the cranks... But I have not started to jump onto the bike yet, as I do not have shin guards, and I feel that is needed for this otherwise I am just too scared to let the bike come around
Damn... I have watched quite a hand full of videos concerning this trick and I've finally discovered my error! I have been doing it "wrong" just like you which made me have problems with catching the cranks since they would not be in a suitable position! So I'm thankful that you made this video, I really didn't understand what I was doing wrong but know I got it! Thanks! 🔥 PS: Is it just me or do you spin your cranks dang fast at 7:47?? Hahaha
huh, I always jam my right foot and kick around with my left..which gets really weird on vert...and scary...still whipping around while looking down at the transition...
Interesting. I’m right foot rearward, but would jam my right foot on the right side of the frame. with my left foot at 6:00 i would fling the bike to a clockwise whip and then just had to catch the 6:00 pedal with my left foot just as the frame arrives to knock my right foot off the tire. Then the right foot comes over the frame back to the pedal. No hopping of any sort. Trouble was flinging the bike around clockwise with my left foot at 6:00. Not sure I could do it now with my bad left knee, and even back in the day traction on the pedal was often my failure point, cus I had to keep downward pressure on the pedal, which was the opposite of lifting the tail up. Never quite managed to hook my left toe on the frame to fling it around. I quit shortly after that, but am getting back into bmx and plan to relearn it. Perhaps I’ll try it your way this time around.
Alfredo Mancuso I tried learning this one years ago and couldn’t get it. Your video is way more in depth than how I tried before so I’ll be dialed soon!
can you somehow dodge the problem with the pedals by using the pegs? either jump of the pegs or land on them? because that nollie part seems to be difficult and scary
Man I'm 50 years old and I was just checking out your video I used to do that trick nobody told me I had to teach myself the way I did it was a jammed my toe in first like you do then when I kicked it around I stand on the front wheel both feet then I manage to put my leg on the pedal and go weird but it works there was no UA-cam Back Then you just have to figure it out and do it
What kind of bike do you have? I need a new one that will preferably not blow the chain off while I’m zooming down the road and get caught in the tire and throw me over the handlebars lol
I ride for Subrosa Brand, and I’m currently riding the Mark Burnett Griffin frame with all Shadow conspiracy parts! If you visit ONSOMESHIT.com we have a few Subrosas on sale!
@@AlfredoMancuso i have 2 ankle braces i usually wear. i wore one on my ankle i broke in augest and figured id be fine just doing street jibs lol. wake up call tho, i need to get exercising my ankles everyday and start wearing my braces no matter what.
before i get into the habit, since i've already started, is it worth learning the "wrong" way with the cranks heading up and down instead of leveled? my point is i didn't know you need to nollie and i can't really do that, so i'd have to learn it first
@@AlfredoMancuso thanks, i guess i might keep trying then. I've tried nollies today and it was really rough. I guess a heavy 15kg dirt bike doesn't help, especially that I'm short. Not saying it's impossible, but a proper bike could help with getting height even with poor technique. I'd like to try a bmx, feels like it would suit me more, but pretty much every friend of mine says, i would probably regret it, because they aren't comfortable to ride, but I don't feel i would notice much of a "downgrade" idk
I'm so close, I get the bike to come around but I can't get back on without putting foot down or tipping over. Also the bike comes around so slow, maybe I need to use my arms to whip it more.
Yeah I'm going to get a pair of shin pads. Also, I think I'm cheating by using the front brake. I notice you don't have a front brake. I'm getting the back wheel up by hitting my front brake first.
Dude I thought you were supposed to do it the way you're saying you learned it and is wrong?????? Or I only saw that part of the video and didn't watch it the whole way through the first time because that's how I've been trying to do it. I can't even comprehend how to nollie into that... I need I need slow motion 🤔🤯😵 Thank you for your great video s
Man I'm 41, I haven't ridden in decades. I decided to buy a bike and see if I can get my youth back. You are a pretty awesome teacher, keep it up.

Same. 41 in a few days and I got a kink and have been doing some really dumb shit but I can’t stop. Wish I never stopped riding 20+ years ago
I like how you actually explain your mistakes other than cutting them out and not putting light on them, very very helpful dawg
My pleasure Thomas!
Glad to see the consistency with vids again! Keep it up Alfredo and keep safe!

I tried to learn them on my own and I never had to jump off the cranks, that seems like it would make the trick soo much harder to balance.
It is, but if you don’t learn them this way then you can’t do them on quarter pipes
