I think it's crazy how people ask chasers "why are you into chubby guys?" and "are chubby guys your only preference?" Like, most gay guys ONLY like skinny guys or guys with abs but that's never questioned...then they'll say, "oh no, I just don't like chubby guys because they're unhealthy" lmao yeah okay, but they'd probably date a skinny guy who smokes or drinks regularly....anyways, thank you for being open about your preferences! It gives chubby guys like me hope that there are people out there who do love us as we are!
Well said. But I also want to add that chubby guys need to give other chubby guys a chance too. Because chubby guys can be just as bad in only wanting skinny or muscular guys and not wanting to go near other chubby guys. I see this ALL the time..and it's really sad.

The idea that a young hot man like you, would consider any kind of contact, or even conversation, with a 47 y/o man with a dad bod (but a youthful face) like me is so uplifting and encouraging. Thankfully..there is no one gay community. This is why I love the Bear community. People are accepted no matter the age, body type, race, or disability. Sure..there are bad apples in all communities..but you might want to explore others if you feel you are in an especially toxic one. Good luck!

Bro get some self esteem! I’m 47 (look 28-32), 180 lbs at 11% bf with abs and a v cut. I feel like I’m on top of the world and get positive attention daily (my shirt is usually off or I’m wearing stringers). I compete (physique competitions) and look better than majority of fit guys half my age. Here’s my point in case I’m sounding like a douchebag. Work with what you have to the 100% fullest! Love yourself and be the best you possible. It will show outside and others love confidence and security. When I had my Grindr account (not long ago) before I met my fiancé I was very selective and picky on my hookups and my phone would blow up like a Roman candle with messages (I did put my face and torso). I had zero issues getting hooked up with other jocks and pretty boys 19-35) and yes they knew my age. Most would question and ask if that was my real age bc I looked so much younger. There is no such thing as age or body shame is my point. If you work with what you have you’ll be golden and see that it doesn’t matter. Fwiw my fiancé is 22 and no I’m too good looking to be a sugar daddy.

I've actually lost 20 pounds over the last 6 weeks and feel great. My blood pressure is back to normal. I was not really meant to be a bear and I lost the weight in my mid 50s. A few months back you had a post and at one point were talking about boyfriends and you kinda let it casually slip that you had one. I knew it would be a few more months before you would mention it. Anyway, glad to see that you indeed finally have one. Sounds like he is a great thing in your life.

The movie " Latter Days" really touches on this issue. It is a most wonderful movie that ends up having a very joyous ending.
I can't help myself from recommending this as truly one of the best movies for those who have trouble just being who they know they are yet feel ostracized by family and/or their church or both.

I came out recently, it couldn’t have been better. I am lucky to have a very accepting family and friends who turn out basically have presumed I was gay and were just wanting for to just say it. I feel for the people who cannot be themselves because of religious or just extremely conservative family and friends. On day we will not have to come out and just be accepted for who we are.

Also also, good advice on the coming out and to give people a chance. I tend to tell people that it took them time to figure out who they are, it may take people in your life some time as well. Someday I think we'll move beyond that and won't just assume straight cis. And the stay in the closet if you might be in danger coming out, that goes for physical, emotional, mental, or financial danger. It's gotten better ( I'm a 52 year old bisexual cis man, the 80's were a different animal so I stayed hidden for awhile) but it's far from perfect. We're counting on you Gen Z.
For your chalazion you have to really heat it, it will reduce your chalazion size drastically after 3 days ( dip the back of a little metal spoon in a hot boil water for a few second and apply it on your chalazion) and do it for a week or two you will see the result

PS - Your response about a gay person's parents really connected with me.
My dad passed very unexpectedly and suddenly (cancer, he was dead about 92 days after being diagnosed), and I never had the "I'm gay" conversation directly with him.
I think he knew I was gay before I was even 10 and knew what the word meant.
Coming from a very conservative Christian family, I was terrified to have that discussion with family. They don't approve and it is very obvious. I don't think my dad disagreed with it, but he did love me and never spoke about it n
I have actually had the "I'm gay" conversation with my mom and aunt...unfortunately, they still call my boyfriend of 7 years "my very good friend."
It I'd hard to work on myself and my own self confidence, when the people closest to me do not fully recognize the grown man that I am.
You cannot function as a healthy adult, if you do not feel fully validated and acknowledged.
I love the point that you made - you always have your gay family. It is SO important to be kind to one another and to build the connections that are positive in life.

I'm so sorry you lost your dad. And I can totally relate to what you're going through with your family..as I'm going through the same thing. A lack of understanding and respect of who we are as human beings and our lives. A lack of treating us with the same dignity they treat other family members who are not LGBT+. Even though we have done nothing to deserve this disrespect. I came to the realization that you can't change people..no matter how hard you try. And like the song says.."I can't make you love me if you don't..". So sadly..you must distance yourself from these people in order to not be continually hurt by them. My straight friends don't seem to understand why this is so important to me and my spouse..why being treated with respect by family members is such a big deal. But as you said..it's important to feel validated and acknowledged. If you ever need a friend to chat with about this I'd be happy to give you contact info. The Bear movement started in the late 80s. It was a reaction to the two acceptable types of gay men at the time, skinny guys and muscle guys. Bears embraced hairiness, beards and could or could not be bigger guys. Bear was an attitude of casual masculinity, with facial hair being a major component. Stan would be considered a cub, especially if he had facial hair. Remember this was the era when AIDS was still an untreatable disease. Having a little extra weight signified that you were likely fairly healthy. Bears today are of course a very wide category. Mainly hairiness and beards, but there are muscle bears and chubby bears. Ideally beardum is a no judgement zone where everyone can be friendly and welcoming. If you decide you are a bear, then you are a bear.
