So what did you all think to mardy Katie?! 😂 honestly you lot thank you! It might come across like I was proper disappointed - don’t get me wrong I was - but it’s just a bike ride. And I always want to be super honest because I know there will be some of you out there who can relate! xx
riders in the tour de france have had to pull out in the past with achilies probs, its quite common and easy to sort, have a look at heal drops of stairs, these are a great way to heal and make tendons strong, also work your good tendon to.
There is no such thing as "just a bike ride". The important thing is that one must recognize when there will be no benefit in riding, which does not happen often.
Thing is, like my therapist said to me. Give things the feelings/actions they deserve at the time, nothing more, nothing less. That way, you don't get bogged down by things, or the opposite, you don't ignore them to the point that they cause problems. Long story I know, but the point is this is just a little set back your journey, not the end and the fact that even mardy Katie is a positive one speaks volumes. 😁 Rest up and come back stronger. To be fair though, even a rest is a 200km to you.. Haha
Katie, you have not not _NOT_ failed, but you've merely postponed your next adventure! I'm glad you listened to Phil -- he is right. Also, there's nothing more attractive than honesty. Thank you for sharing and _keep your chin up_ !!
Hey Katie, I do not see an injury as a failure. The tough decision not to ride this 1000km is the win for you. You have decades of cycling still to come and as you say, third time you will get it done. I have cycled for years and you are an inspiration to me and am sure to the many supporters and followers of your UA-cam channel.
Katie, a wise decision, as your doctor said, removed from emotion. It's not worth hurting yourself long-term, and you have had an amazing cycling year so far! I know it hurts to not be able to complete your goal this year, but there are many miles ahead, and you know that you can replicate that training. You're a hell of a rider, and it will all come together at some point. We love you, you candor, your humor, your suffering. You are us, and that my girl is so inspiring.
You have not failed, because you did not even begin the 1000K. 22 is another year. I wish you a full recovery. You are an inspiration. Thank you, and keep it going.
Katie your energy that comes from within you is what makes everything possible. Say this out loud every morning " I AM HEALTHY, I AM STRONG, I AM LOVED. " You can do everything and anything you want. Never give up on your dreams. Stay strong.
Totally gutted for you Katie. I wish I (like I'm sure the rest of your followers) could give you a big hug. You have done some massive rides this year and you are an inspiration to me! I'll only started cycling this year (May). I'm now up to 35Km a ride. It might not seem far to most but it's a big achievement for me. I've been watching your year a couple of years now and you are the main reason I bought a bike. One day I'd like to thank you in person and give you a big hug (obviously asking your permission first of course!). Cycling and you have changed my life. Thank you. Rob xx
Hi Katie, my heart goes out to you because you couldn't take part in the event that you've planned and trained for but it most certainly isn't a fail, no way! You did the prep and an injury got in the way, you haven't failed. As always you have shown us when you've hit a low but you've succeeded in showing us all that we can't always have it our own way, stuff gets in the way, but life and cycling will go on. Stick to the plan my lovely, it'll all come good in the end. Chapeau
Katie, its not a failure, its a set back.. Heal up, stay strong and don't ever give up until you have given everything to achieve your goals and that is as a fit you, not an injured you. The most expensive resource in life is time, you still have that? one of the most powerful is inner drive and ambition, you also have that. You can do it! Don't look back, look forwards. You cannot change the past, but you can contribute to the future. :)
I was a competitive runner in university and got mono. It changed my entire life trajectory. I was in such good shape I only took a few days off and continued running. After that my mono kept coming back everytime i went on long runs. In end I had to give up the sport. My advice to you is completely stop cycling for 2 weeks. Put it out of your mind. Swim, yoga or hike something that uses different muscles. Otherwise you will live with this injury for your cycling life. The injury could be your body's way of telling you it needs rest. I follow a pro-gravel cyclist on UA-cam who says take a whole month off once a year. He believes the rest part is the most important part of the training regime. You are incredibly fit and you won't lose anything if you just rest and recover. Love your channel! You are such an inspiration to me.
You’re absolutely not ‘being a baby’ - I’m new to cycling (relatively speaking - I’m 49 years of age), got my first gravel bike a few months ago and my long rides are 40-50k - so when you say ‘shorter rides at 70-100k’ my mind is blown. But the primary reason I watch your channel is because of the honesty, so keep crying, smiling and everything in between 😀🙏🏻
Chin up Katie old love. It took me ages to heal my Achilles and it seemed like forever. Resting up is always much harder to endure than the hardest of training for people like us. Think of getting the injury better as just another challenge and you’ll get there for sure. Thanks for sharing the downs as well as the ups as it certainly will help a lot of folks who are struggling with similar lows. It’s no failure on your part it’s just another part of the game of life. Kudos!
You're a beautiful person inside and out. Phil gave you great advice and your were wise to accept it. No question you will build back up and be doing long rides in no time. This is a setback but a long term injury would be a devastating blow to you and the desire to accomplish even more than you did this year...which was absolutely incredible. Thanks so much for always being an encourager and one of my primary motivators to get up, get out and do something positive. You're the best!
I set myself a goal of cycling 140km from Aberdovey to home. It was a brutal summer day and I hadn’t realised the steep hills. I suffered a mechanical which couldn’t be fixed and had to get the train home. Feeling deflated and not wanting to admit to people that I had to get a train. It sucks but my goal and yours are worlds apart. Getting to the point where you can cycle 1000km in 3 days is monumental. It sucks to now have to wait a year to complete it but the journey to that goal will be even more satisfying. I realised that I need to prepare more for big challenges.
Katie, watched your videos for a long while and you are a big inspiration for me. Bloody ruptured my achilles in May this year before some big plans to take on some hefty challenges. I'm now just getting back to struggling through 1hr+ rides with lots of weird pains, but time is such a great healer for the mind and the silver lining for me has been that time off the bike gives you an amazing new perspective of just how much fun riding is, and that will always be the #1 reason I do it. I am sure with your mindset you will bounce back even stronger from this minor setback.
Injuries are mentally challenging, frustrating, but you are only one year away from smashing it next year fully recovered. Give yourself a break Katie. I am into 10 weeks of breaking my Fibula so no training at all, but we have to accept that sometimes we have to roll with the challenges. When the going gets tough, Katie gets going !
Katie. You are being honest and real as always. Not being able to do something you have aimed for is painful. I had to take the decision last weekend to cancel a sportive I have been targeting for two years. I haven’t had a good cycling year and I know I’m not ready for it. It’s best to accept the situation, regroup and target the next great adventure once you are fit again. I wish you a speedy and full recovery and look forward to seeing you conquer future challenges on your bike.
Injury sucks! When you’re dealing with them it seems like they’re never going to end! They do. You will get over it. It’s good that you have the voice of reason helping you. I was hit by a truck a year and half ago with a bad leg fracture that’s had many complications. I’ve been back on the bike for a month the progress has been slow but it’s progress. You’ll heal and you’ll get your ride done!
It's not really failing, to my mind, but it is very disappointing. I remember 2019 and I know this one means a lot to you. You're doing the right thing. You'll be back soon. Solidarity. See you on the road.
You need to let it recover fully. Phil is correct. Keep working on gradually increasing your cycling distance. I understand your disappointment. I broke my leg weeks before a big dinghy racing competition in Italy. Not only did I miss the sailing event, plus the holiday before it, I had to miss going skiing that winter as it wasn't fully healed enough to get a ski boot on. Best wishes from a very warm and sunny NE Scotland.
Katie, please don't feel bad about this temporary setback. It was a sensible decision to pull out. We all support you through the good and bad times. Take it easy, rest up if you need to and come back stronger than ever. You'll smash it in future I'm sure. Take care and already looking forward to bagel and bin rides (and those vieeewws!) 😊👍
Katie stay strong, I have had the same injury last year and took a two weeks full stop and then for like 2 months only rode my bike for courier work and slowly started training again. Now I have crossed the 8k kilometres mark for this year and am fitter than before. Two races this month and a few trips are already planned :) And if the injury returns I now know what to do thanks to you and your physician!
First of all Katie, this is not a failure, so don't beat yourself up! Your decision to pull out was based on a very rational decision from an expert and you knowing your own body. Your decision will only benefit you going forward and you will hopefully have a very short lay off from the bike instead of a potentially long one. Well done on all the hard work and training. You'll get there! X
I'm 100% certain you will do this, maybe even next year but whenever your body is ready. 200, 300, 400 & 600k this year is absolutely amazing and truly inspirational xx
Awe I am so sorry you have had to postpone your event again but it is for a good reason and you will look back in years to come and know this was the best decision for you. Patience, hope and time will make it happen one day so sending you big healing hugs, you are an inspiration to so many whether you are on or off the bike. Thank you 😘😊
No such thing as failure. You’re have a situation and that’s an injury to deal with and you know that’s the only and responsible thing to do. I had Achilles pain 15 years ago and the only way to get rid is to rest. Put the fire out and don’t keep adding coals to it.. I have never had issues since and I run and ride. You’ve achieved loads this year. 👍🏼
Thanks for sharing. As you say don't push beyond pain. It's not worth it in the long run. I'm also seriously impressed that you were even looking at doing a megametre in 3 days. That's one of my goals but I'm only slowly building up distance and consider 400 in 3 days to be good. You're an inspiration
Ahhh, I really feel for you Katie. I know what it's like to be injured when you've been training for an event for so long. I have cried too when injuries have got in the way of my goals back in the day. You have done the right thing in pulling out of the race on Phil's advice. You will have learned heaps in your training, so it's not wasted. Now you know your achilles is prone to injury, next time you train for All Points North, you'll be able to keep your foot strong too as part of it. You are a superstar being so honest with us all - sharing your highs and lows. Rest well lovely lady and before you know it, you'll be back on the long uns x😊
From what Phil said this was absolutely the right decision, if you'd gone ahead you could have messed it up permanently and you've obviously got a lot of good riding ahead. You've done some amazing rides this year, I know it's hugely frustrating but rest up, come back fully fit and carry on putting us mere mortals to shame!
You now have two more years of learning and experience towards your goal, you are better than you were and getting better each and every day. FAILING = QUITTING and as always, you have not failed. Through your sharing with all of us, we continue to get better as well, which is one of the many reasons why we love you!
I'm not disappointed in you at all. You are an example of what many aspire to do. Going on and compounding your injury would not be responsible to yourself and your viewers. You're not superhuman but you are above average and that's enough. Take care.
I think goals like this really have two metrics for success. The first is the training and planning for the event. The other is how you do at event. You put in the work, mental and physical, to try and meet an ambitious goal. You had a setback and can't do the event, but you were successful in what many find the hardest part, putting in the countless hours of preparation.
Katie you inspire me and by the lovely comments you have inspire so many others too. Look after you, this is just part of the journey and you should be proud of how hard you have worked. I'm pleased you realised it was sore before you started so you can mentally prepare yourself to understand why you can't do it. xx
Just want to give you a hug darlin you poor lass xx keep on remembering the achievements you’ve made to even train that hard in the first place, you will smash this another time as is proven time and time again on these big challenges that you do 👏🏻👏🏻 keep smiling and embrace the rest to get your achievements. Thanks for your honesty 😘
Crushed for you, but for your channel this was just so great, shows you are very human and just really engages your viewers. The highs are great, but it’s the lows that show our courage, and you have plenty!
cycling is such a committment emotionally and physically. Training both stresses and strengthens our mind and body to enable us to keep going even when it hurts The danger is that we become so absorbed toward achieving a goal that we overide our safety systems which are warning us to back off. external input like a coach or physio watching over us is essential to keep us training smart not stupid. you did the right thing Katie and you will achieve your goal when your injury heals and the foundation training that you have already done pays off, as being stored ready and waiting for the right time
Sorry to hear that Katie. Next years the one. Hang in there lass. You got this. But on the plus side. Finally getting the hang of this cycling lark. Took a chance and removed 2 of the stabilisers today. Kept the right hand front and rear ones on for safety purposes obviously, so if I fall off, I land in the gutter and not in the road. Up there for thinking, down there for pedaling. Also I've replaced the lorry rachet straps that held me feet to the pedals with hubba bubba. A vast improvement I must say, although it did come unstuck at one point and i uppercutted myself on the chin with my knee and spat me pipe out into the wicker shopping basket. Thankfully it had gone out beforehand. Phew!. Lifes a learning curve ay. Baby steps Katie, baby steps ❤
It'll be reeeeet. Get up n go again when you can. Yup, sad it never happened but you'll do it...... I have no doubt. You are one of the most honest n inspirational ppl I have discovered this year........ keep peddling mate. 👍🏻
With your determination and ability to plan your training you are gonna come back stronger than ever and absolutely crush it, no doubt! We'll all be even more hyped when you do as well. Best of luck to you for a speedy and uninterrupted recovery.
You'll get it Katie, definitely. You might not feel like it right now but you're hard as nails! I mean, have you seen your videos?! Jesus Christ! So, you'll get it - not this year, granted, but you're 100% going to do that ride next year or the year after, it's when not if. Keep on keeping on, you're a real inspiration. Much love.
You got me off my butt to go longer distances and so far I've clocked up loads of 100 plus k rides this year with top three being 162, 186 and 194k over hilly terrain. You are the tide that raises loads of boats Katie. Wish you a speedy recovery. Btw, Great Dunn Fell is great as you say. I did it in hot weather, no gale force winds! Ride on.
You’re still awesome and an inspiration… you did a video sometime ago about failing every now and then. I think of that when I fall short and I look forward to kicking that challenge’s ass the next time. Exactly what you’ll do!
Failure is when you don’t even try. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Injuries happen and you accomplished more in just prepping than most. And although it may be of little comfort, there is always tomorrow. Don’t push it by overdoing it today.
Such a hard choice, but definitely the right one. Ligaments, tendons, tendon sheaths, etc, are dense fibers with little circulation, so once they are damaged it can take a long time to heal, if ever! Listen to your body for the win! You’ve got this in the long term!
I and sorry about your painful achilles Katie. However, I like this video very much, because it covers the enormously difficult subject of letting go of a goal in which you are deeply emotionally invested and then managing the disappointment. Very helpful. Thank uou. I bet you'll be back to have another try at some point. x
Katie, your sharing of yourself has inspired a group of us who see your rides, your Joy and your enthusiasm. Thank you for being awesome to share both the good and your challenges. We love you, be safe, get healthy again, there is always next year. 😀
Sometimes we all have to think and stop, doing that and recover. But sometimes is biology that interferes, age also. Imagine if you learn to walk with six years old, we old have lots off problems in the future, because our body was design to start walking with less age. I’m not an expert but even if we have the mind to do it and pass our limites your body will tell when to stop. I’m in my 39 and I thought I could it all and over come some challenges but one off those my body refuse it and learn the hard way. We sometimes have to step back to gain in the future. Always supporting you Katie!
Hi Katie, feel for you. I had to give up running because of constant achilles problems. When I started riding I noticed that I had to be extremely careful with what shoes I chose. I met a brilliant podiatrist who made some orthotics for me. Not only have they stopped the tendinitis occurring but assist with being able to put a watt or two more onto the pedal. Just a thought for you.
Achilles injuries can be a real pain and hard to deal with, especially when you're a frequent/daily cyclist. Once the achilles starts to go, then you really can get any power whatsoever into the pedal stroke and you're faced with a lot of pain, so can full empathise with your frustrations and discomfort. 2019 was the last time I suffered, trying to finish the Heb Way on day two was a struggle - I 'd have been better off walking. Speedy recovery!
Totally get everything you shared. Been dealing most of this year with a bad hamstring that just won't quite turn the corner in recovery. I'm taking the mindset all this just makes me more resilient when I am able to climb back on the bike for serious miles. But you're spot on this makes me appreciate even the bad days on the bike.
Gutted for you but I totally understand how you feel. It is certainly not a failure. You have absolutely done the right thing, it will always be there another year to do. Good luck with your recovery 😍
Listen to your body is 100 percent right. Was golfing Monday and suddenly my back stared hurting that i could'nt bend over properly, stopped playing but walked rest of the round, still suffering a bit now but we have amazing bodies that talk to us sometimes, keep going its all we can do!
Your a tough northerner, Katie it’s in our blood, you will bounce back better, and stronger, love your videos, keep up,the good work, from a northern fan living in New Zealand 🇳🇿
Made me cry when you were on the reccy ride and it hit you. You've done so much and inspired so many people through your amazing videos! Look after yourself and hope the injury gets better soon - the challenge will be there ready and waiting in the future...
i've ridden 200,300, and 600 kms cycling events, they're all tough on the body, and just because you feel good and rested off the bike, its not a pointer for success on the bike, it can take years to develop the cycling pose, but perseverance after recovery will bode well for a future triumph.
Been following you for a while Katie.. Definitely the right decision. Nurse the achilles back without overdoing it and you'll be back doing your 1000km in a year or two. You're good at taking the rough with the smooth ... and you're an inspiration.
I think it was the right decision. I did 15 half marathons in 15 days despite an Achilles twinge on day 1 - I was training for the Bob Graham round in the lakes. That was 30 years ago and the injury has not quite settled back to be good enough for running. I can do most things that just don't repeat the same motion over and over again - so I could do circuit training for example. Strangely though, it never shows itself on the bike. Good luck with the recovery.
Chapeau Katie, we set out to achieve goals, to push the boundaries, to exceed our expectations and sometimes a spanner is thrown in works and this causes a little set back, to us at the time it's a Massive issue, we loose a little bit of faith, motivation, but as a Good Friend once told me when I was struggling out on the Bike "it's Character Building" Katie, it's not for ever, we are after all only humans, we are not robots. Listen to your body, rest and look after that achilles, you will come back Faster & Stronger🚴♀️👍🚴♂️😁🚴🙏
Feel your pain. I had a similar situation just before Covid. It hurts when you have to give up something that is so important to you, but it is the right thing to do. Never forget my chiropractor, in his best talking to a child voice "We have spoken about this" when I asked if there was any chance of riding.
It’s not a failure and neither are you. We are human and sometimes our bodies give out. I was emotional the other day when I thought about how lucking I am to train for a triathlon. So many people are unable to do this type of sport. I have friend who is physically challenged and sometimes I secretly dedicate my training to him. You will heal and complete your goal!
Definitely good advice not to push through that kind of pain. I did exactly that and now have a permanently thickened and painful Achilles to cope with. (Haglund's deformity.). My doctor said I could be active and do what I Iiked "if you can stand the pain" !! Thanks a lot. You clearly have something there that you have to manage and look after, and accept that it might limit you in future. But better to be able to ride, than not at all. Take care, and enjoy what you CAN do. X
Darling, all plans are rife for disaster. “Makes much more sense to live in the present tense…”, Pearl Jam. What an incredible journey you’ve taken us on and we’re all so grateful. Beautiful lady, beautiful spirit, beautiful contributions Thanks for all you do and share. Love some KK on the regular!
Katie - be fair to yourself and all the hard work you have put in, you haven't Failed at all, if anything you've succeeded, the rides you complete are amazing and be proud of what you achieve. Use the tears for the motivation for next year, if it were easy it wouldn't be worth doing and you wouldn't get as much as you will from it when you complete it
Hi Katie Very frustrating for you after doing all those long rides this last year I’m 74 and still ride regularly can’t envisage riding the distances you do You’re superwoman Good advice from Phil You’ll soon bounce back Take care All the best Alan xx
That’s a real shame. We are all rooting for you. Rest up and then you can do it! We have all been there in some shape or form. When your body heals your going to smash it better than you were going to this time. Your conditioning this year has been amazing! Next time your body will be ready and it’ll be a breeze!
As others have said Katie, that's no fail, top athletes get injuries, you not only do some mega rides which has to take it's toll on your body, you produce excellent vlogs to go with them, an amazing achievement. It's just not worth pushing and doing long term damage, so glad you listened to your physio...there'll be other years for allpointsnorth.
Thanks, Katie for sharing the "downs" of being an athlete. Last week I pushed past the nerve pain when lifting weights and so now I am recovering from the strain and the pain. I want to lift now but I've got to listen to the very small pain I still have! Yeah- frustrating and disappointing but like you, I am in this for the long haul!
I feel.your pain and have been there. Remember you don't need an organised event to complete the challenge. Go and do it when you want to. My first ironman won't be an organised event but one with one competitor (me), run on the day I want to and it won't diminish the success if I cross the finish line.
Your short rides are my long rides. You are a fighter and a motivator. I’m glad you postponed and thinking about the long game. I know you will succeed when the time comes.
Sorry for your disappointment but you're OK, that's the main thing, you'll get better and you can try again. Wish you a full and speedy recovery. Take care.
Thank you for sharing. I'm in a similar boat right now.. except 8x less distance than you XD. I was targeting an 80km ride each weekend. but bc I push too hard one time, I've been sporting a painful muscle thing that kicks in after 30 km or so. It becomes frustrating especially with fall coming in, and I feel that biking season starting to come at a close. The only thing stopping me from going to my targeted distance is the pain, even though my body can probably do 2 to 3 times that. Thank you for sharing, it reminds me to also take it easy and there is always more when I have healed.
It's no failure, i am a regular viewer of your content and i can see just how far you have come from your early videos, just have a good rest and making great content for your fans, take care Katie and like you said it's just a bike ride :)
Hugs, Katie. I so understand the feeling of "unfinished business" when there's a challenge left to be completed, however, your decision is the right one. Celebrating your achievements this year is also good and proper and right. You're always an inspiration to me and all of your viewers.
So sorry to hear this Katie, I know how you feel. The 1st time I ever had to pull out of a major Audax event I really beat myself up about it. Follow Phils advice & take some rest hopefully you will recover soon. One thing to remember about Phil he is used to working with pro cyclist, not endurance Audax type cyclists. If this injury happens again you really need to move the cleats back, like I did many years ago. This really helped me as it lowers the force on the achilies & stabilises the foot. Another effect it had was my calf muscles got slightly smaller, less force needed to stabilise the foot I presume. You might need to lower your saddle to compensate.
You can do it next year when you're healthy. As someone who has done an Ironman triathlon with an achilles tendonopathy I know how you're feeling. Wasn't my best decision but I did it and suffered afterwards for quite a while. I was lucky though that cycling was fine, was just running that was an issue. Stay strong and get healed up soon!
Wake up tomorrow morning and think it through. Then gather yourself up, heal up and try again.
Rest up and come back stronger.
It’s the journey that counts Katie, however long that may be. You’re still on the journey 😀
You made the best decision! These set backs happen. It's so cool that you have the guts to share everything. You are so cool.
Hang in there Katie you will be better off once you rest up and can try again at another time. We’re all here supporting you!
Get well soon and the roads will always be there for you.
You haven’t failed!
You have done more than people only dream of doing on a bike.
Respect from me!
You're my hero. Failing does not mean failure. Doing your best is not a failure.
Thank You Katie! Rest and Recover from your injury.
Bring on next year. Enjoy the van and conquer that slope on the mountain bike. Thank you for sharing the highs and the lows.
Girl you are a beast. Thanks for sharing this. Great job for promoting healthy life choices. Looking forward to seeing you nail the event next year.
Crushed for you, but for your channel this was just so great, shows you are very human and just really engages your viewers. The highs are great, but it’s the lows that show our courage, and you have plenty!
cycling is such a committment emotionally and physically. Training both stresses and strengthens our mind and body to enable us to keep going even when it hurts
The danger is that we become so absorbed toward achieving a goal that we overide our safety systems which are warning us to back off.
external input like a coach or physio watching over us is essential to keep us training smart not stupid.
you did the right thing Katie and you will achieve your goal when your injury heals and the foundation training that you have already done pays off, as being stored ready and waiting for the right time
Sorry to hear that Katie.
You are a strong woman and an achiever, sitting out and not being able to ride is worse. Best of luck
Injury and pain is no failure, we all love you Katie, we find such inspiration from you xxx
You are strong, and will come back stronger. There is always next time Katie! Rest up, recover, recuperate and get back out there to smash it!
Heartbreaking and frustrating for sure but you have been awesome and this injury MUST heal in order for you to continue on your journey. We love you.
Glad you are taking care of yourself and being cautious. A potential long term injury is not worth it. Way to go Katie! Third times the charm 🍀
It’s not the destination. It’s the journey. You are already a winner
Sounds like a very good decision. Thanks for sharing the highs and the lows Katie. Get well soon
I hope you recover fully and swiftly Katie. Take good care of yourself.
Katie, I love your channel. It's not a failing it's just not your time.
Katie - be fair to yourself and all the hard work you have put in, you haven't Failed at all, if anything you've succeeded, the rides you complete are amazing and be proud of what you achieve.
Use the tears for the motivation for next year, if it were easy it wouldn't be worth doing and you wouldn't get as much as you will from it when you complete it
Sending you positivity and healing energy! Thanks from Fairport, NY (USA) for inspiring folks around the world!
Hi Katie
Very frustrating for you after doing all those long rides this last year
I’m 74 and still ride regularly can’t envisage riding the distances you do
You’re superwoman
Good advice from Phil
You’ll soon bounce back
Take care
All the best
Alan xx
Just did Loch Ness 360 with a painful knee, blew up 3/4 of the way round. Now I’m paying for it!!!
Don't be too hard on yourself, you've got all that training in, your still fitter then most people. You'll be back stronger and better next year.
I feel.your pain and have been there.
Remember you don't need an organised event to complete the challenge. Go and do it when you want to.
My first ironman won't be an organised event but one with one competitor (me), run on the day I want to and it won't diminish the success if I cross the finish line.
The ride will always be there and very very wise not to mess with an achilles! Head up and think of other stuff to do over the winter!
Your short rides are my long rides. You are a fighter and a motivator. I’m glad you postponed and thinking about the long game. I know you will succeed when the time comes.
not a failure, you're a champ and keep up the good work. like you said, it is a bike ride and enjoy while you can.
Best of luck with your recovery Katie.
Sorry for your disappointment but you're OK, that's the main thing, you'll get better and you can try again. Wish you a full and speedy recovery. Take care.
I am so sorry to hear of your pain at this Katie. You did not fail as many have said below, but I know it hurts nonetheless. Take care of yourself.
Good one Katie. You made the right decision and you'll be back on top. Cheers
Big internet hug. You'll bounce back, we will be with you, high and low.
