If he indeed would "enjoy designing a (steel coaster, not a "hybrid") with this terrain," he already has. Iron Rattler is an excellent RMC which is incorporated wonderfully into the terrain of a gulley/quarry. Perhaps the most unique inclusion of a roller coaster into already-existing terrain in modern history.
I'm kinda worried for this coaster since you mentioned RCCA. They like to cut corners so it makes me wonder was it really just the heat that made the coaster move a few inches.
Great video as always. Glad I could help out with the footage. The coaster itself was a lot of fun when I visited Terra Mitica in 2014. Not as rough as other RCCA woodies. Too bad they let it rot away like that. I feel like a retrack could really bring this beast back to its full potential... At least I have the cred and the footage tho 😇

The roller coaster was incredibly vibrating, almost painful. I've tried it and I do not have a good souvenir of it.
This happens at all parks. Portaventura, have had a couple of deaths on their rides through the years. Red Force & Furious Baco are extremely vibrative.
@@hardcoreuproar2322 If my memory serves me right, the death did not result from a heart attack but due to a malfunctioning restraint which is pretty unusual. Investigations revealed (again not 100% sure) that Tera Mitica meddled with the restraints on Inferno. Would like to know more about that because information is hard to come by.

I went here in 2010 and it was awesome. There was a bunch of shows as well as rides, all themed, and staff were dressed up. Really cool to just walk around
I rode it multiple times in 2001 (12 months after opening) and it was great fun. Partly because of it's location, in the side of a mountain and slightly elevated over the rest of the park. It's been closed since 2015 and was such a sad sight to see when I was there last Saturday. I really don't know how Terra Mitica survives as the park is only open during Summer months and is never busy. This was the busiest I've seen it in a while and the longest we waited for any ride was 15 mins, and that only was due to slow operations. It's such a shame as there are no other theme parks anywhere near. It's beautifully themed and has so much space for expansion.
The "s" in RCCA is for smooth. Seriously, having seen how bad RCCA coasters get over time, I highly doubt that this ride, as impressive as it certainly looks and however nice its layout is, would be enjoyable if it operated today. To me, this kind of looks like the European version of the Rattler, and RMC'ing it would make it a bucket list coaster. But I doubt that's gonna happen, given the park's financial situation.
It really is a shame what happened to this park and in general to the Magnus Collosus roller coaster. It would be very interesting if RMC got involved with one of its projects to recover it as a great hybrid, but the few people who go to the park, in addition to the extreme complications of the weather in the area, which cause the wood of the coaster to suffer wear tremendous both because of the changing and sometimes extreme weather, and because of its situation so close to the sea, it could be said that a conversion of RMC would be sent to failure unless a good amount of money was invested in its conservation. A shame A hug from Spain.
A park with so much potential, if only a management team with vision, foresight and some cash could get their hands on it. Yes MC was rough but it’s unique location is impressive- RMC would work and I’m sure they could create a spectacular coaster from it. It’ll cost though. I have a soft spot for this park and wish I could get my hands on it. Potential in abundance. Great video 👍
All wooden coasters need regular maintenance and trackwork to keep them from getting rough. Judging from how rough it was during my visit in 2009, it didn't get the maintenance it needed. The roughness killed most of the airtime the ride had supposedly previously had. That obviously contributed to the low ridership.
That land reminds me of my fantastic trip to the American National Parks, especially Badlands and Yellowstone. I think this beast would make a top 5 RMC, or GCI or Gravity group could reprofile it to make a top tier woodie. That is really one heck of a structure.
I rode this 18yrs ago and it was a rough ride then! It's a shame but maintaining a wooden structure like this in this area of spain will be a constant battle when exposed to the heat, sunlight & sea wind on an open side of a mountain. Temperatures can range from +40C (in shade) in summer down to near 0C in winter plus when it rarely rains, it is normally torrential when it does. An all steel rmc or launch/hyper coaster that would utilise the mountain with a quarry theme would be ideal in this location.
Rode Magnus several times in summer 2001. As someone said, it's an incredible looking coaster from every site of the park, even from the highway, but the pacing was terrible. The coaster only got a little ejector in the back rows in the first drop after the lift, the rest a little bit rough, no laterals, no floating, no nothing, and so slow at the end... I think that they closed it due to the elevate cost of manteniment of a wooden coaster located in a park near the Mediterranean sea with only 10.000 of visitors in a busy day (the ride can handle over 1200 riders per hour). Simply the numbers doesn't fit...
Looks so cool. The on ride footage, shows that it's a dud. This coaster reminds me of playing RCT. When you build that awesome looking coaster, only to be disappointed in the results. No matter how much you tweak it!
When I was a kid on summer holiday I loved going to Terra Mitica and riding this woodie was pretty much the start of my obsession with coasters, but as people have said, it's rough... so, so rough... I can't describe how painful it was, one year we came back to the park and it had new signs saying how rough it was, the next year it was closed. Great ride as a kid, but no tears really now it's gone. Hopefully the park gets some money in to replace it, but I highly doubt it.

I doubt it. Portaventura, have had the same problem. Terramitica problem is location, Alicante & Valencia are the only 2 cities near by. 50 per cent of the radius around the park is water.

Terra mítica has a rather interesting history, it was built because of political corruption and as a way for politicians to get money from, rather than actually building the park, not so long ago, the park was bought by the owners of Aqualandia (A water park that is actually profitable and that used to be the largest one in Europe) But sadly all they've done so far is divide the park in 2: Terra mítica and Iberia park. Magnus was never a great coaster. Rode it it 2000 (Park opening), 2004 (1 year after Tizona opening) and 2009 (after Inferno was added). The ride always had problems with roughness and the extreme heat of Benidorm. Since 2004 the coaster only run with one train, and became one of the worst coasters of Spain. Doubt the coaster will ever return, a wooden coaster abandoned for 6 years doesn't give it a good future. Maybe it stays sbno until it's unsafe to stay standing.
Even when it was new, this was absolute garbage. I rode Magnus in the early 2000s and it was rough, slow and just boring. Terrible pacing with a terrible layout. Its awesome to look at but I've never been on a coaster that didn't live up to expectations as much as this. I doubt anyone would be sad to see it go.

Doubt the coaster will ever return, a wooden coaster abandoned for 6 years doesn't give it a good future. Maybe it stays sbno until it's unsafe to stay standing.
I have a terrible fantasy of six flags buying this place…
Even when it was new, this was absolute garbage. I rode Magnus in the early 2000s and it was rough, slow and just boring. Terrible pacing with a terrible layout. Its awesome to look at but I've never been on a coaster that didn't live up to expectations as much as this.
I doubt anyone would be sad to see it go.
b bu but that double down drop😭
@@germancoasterenthusiast3123 yeah and it literally has no force at all. None of the hills do. A lot of the pov clips in this video are sped up. Go find another pov and you'll see just how slowly it really crawls through the layout.
Jesus is the only way into Heaven turn from your worldly ways ask Him to your heart cleanse you from ALL unrighteousnsess make Him your Lord and your Savior 1 day YOU will enter the Kingdom of Heaven
This is by far the worst wooden roller coaster I have ever ride in my life. The train shakes a lot you leave the ride with a massive headache. It looks amazing but people hate it. Glad is closed
In fact, I think Magnus is the second worst wooden coaster, the first one is Coaster Express in Warner Madrid. I've ridden both of them...
Try Furious Baco, at Portaventura (yes it's steel) the vibrations that enter your head on that ride.
