      DeWayne Phillips there is no such thing as a goat dummy. That's what I mean. You can't do it alone. Obviously there are people like lebron and kawhi that can carry a mediocre team. But the team needs to be at a certain level. Otherwise they are SOL

      I’m more biased towards wing players than big men though with the exception of Kareem, Hakeem, Shaq, Karl Malone, and Dirk because they would’ve dominated in any era. Other bigs that were just rim protectors and interior scorers wouldn’t have been as successful in today’s era in my opinion or even in the late 90s and early 2000s once the game started revolving around guards, and this top 50 is just me speculating how well each players skill set that they played with would’ve translated to every era since the 3 point line was implemented

    MJ stats from the flu game, 38 pts, 5 assists, 7 rebounds, 3 steals, 1 block he went 10-12 at the line and played 44 minutes. Bulls won the game 90-88. The man just refused to lose. Quit was certainly not a word in Jordan's Vocabulary.

      @Hector Rayray Really ?
      Michael Jordan was DOMINANT. He didn't let another player score 32 on him in the finals per game (KD), or his opponent get finals MVP (Kawhi), or 2 other players outplay him in the finals (Wade and Dirk) etc etc. As a matter of fact, other than his 95 rusty comback serious against Orlando, he never let a single player outshine him in a series.
      Here are a few of many stats to show you just how dominant he was -
      Michael Jordan has 5 of the 7 top playoff series scoring averages of all time and 6 of the top 10. Lebron doesn't have one in the top 10. Kobe doesn't. Wilt doesn't even have one. He averaged over 40 PPG in 5 different playoff series. That's insane. His top 6 playoff series averages are 45.2, 45, 43.7, 43., and 41 respectively, the last being in the finals.
      Michael Jordan was 2nd leading player all time in steals, DPOY award, 6th all time guard in rebounds (Saying LBJ is a better rebounder is ridiculous, he plays forward! of course he grabs more boards!). Highest scoring average, and postseason scoring averages of all time.
      Michael Jordan has more Post-Season Records than Russell, Wilt, Kareem, Kobe and Lebron Combined.
      Jordan holds a whopping 42 NBA Playoff Records. To put that in prospective, this is how he measures up to other All Time Players:
      Number of Playoff Records:
      Michael Jordan - 42
      Bill Russell - 15
      Wilt Chamberlain - 13
      Lebron James - 6
      Kareem Abdul Jabaar - 5
      Kobe Bryant - 5
      Jordan holds the Highest career PER average in NBA regular season, post season and NBA Finals history.
      Jordan holds the Highest career Efficiency rating average in NBA regular season, post season and NBA Finals history.
      Jordan holds the Highest career Gamescore average in NBA regular season, post season and NBA Finals history.
      Jordan holds the Highest career Winshares average in NBA regular season, post season and NBA Finals history.
      Jordan holds the Highest MVP shares average in NBA regular season, post season and NBA Finals history.
      Jordan is the only player to lead the league in Scoring and Win Defensive player of the Year a season.
      Jordan is the only player to Win a championship, scoring title and steals title in the same season.

      I watched most of the 90’s Bulls game live. Pippen was an elite defender, just as good as MJ. His offense wasn’t elite. He got a lot of points due to opponents focusing on MJ. I’m not knocking Pippen because he’s one of my favorite players but there were streaks he would throw brick after brick. My point is, people who never watched this team live think Pippen was very close to MJ in greatness. Not even close.

      MJ was the beast of beasts before Pippen, only thing he needed was a couple of consistent teamates close to all star caliber to dominate the league. Pippen without MJ, would have been at best two all star selection kind of player. MJ didnt just bring attention to anybody that played alongside him, in Pippens' case he literally pushed Pippen day in and day out in practice to become who he became.

    As Marv Albert put it, MJ was suffering from flu-like symptoms. MJ's trainer who was with him the night he ordered that pizza says it was food poisoning. IMO it was food poisoning from the pizza. If you've ever had the flu, you know you can barely stand or move at all. Either way, he was sick as hell and willed himself to help his team win!

      Cherry Rose Mararac i remember that interview with the trainer, he also said it was strange that 10 delivery guys came to deliver just one pizza, and that MJ was definitely the only one to eat any of it.

      It's rougher, and that's good. And they really have to work and it's fun to watch, and a great battle.
      But, there's a definite skill deficit compared to today. The amount of times 4s and 5s get the ball to 15 feet without shooting is weird.

      @chrisx2k6 6 років тому +19

      Fapoolakoo Jordan was the best defensive player on the floor. It's just that Jordan couldn't put as much into defense because of what he was doing on the offensive end. He still was great defensively anyway though. Unlike Harden, Carmelo and others in today's era.

    • @kristion9774
      @kristion9774 6 років тому +17

      Fapoolakoo the entire team played defense! Pippen doesn’t have the defensive accolades of Michael Jordan! Jordan has more steals titles, more defensive player of the year awards, more seasons with 200 steals and 100 blocks in the same season, more 100 block seasons, more 200 steals seasons and more 1st team defense selections and Jordan missed most of 2 seasons of his career 1986, 1995, then came back and played at 38-40 years old. Jordan was scoring 35 a game and leading the nba in points, steals, 15th in blocks and winning mvp and defensive player of the year awards all in the same season while Pippen was a 7 point per game rookie on the bench! If Pippen has to score as much as Jordan and close would he still have been able to play the type of defense Jordan played? In 1998 why were the bulls down after Stockton hit that 3? Because Pippen gambled trying to double Malone and left Antoine Carr open for a layup, which forced Ron Harper to leave Stockton at the 3 point line to help Pippen and Malone spotted Stockton delivered the pass then Stockton put them up. Then Jordan had to score like 8 or 6 points in 30 seconds and get a steal to save them from going to game 7 and hit the game winner. Pippen had a bad back that series for the final 3 games. He definitely wasn’t the best defensive player that series. The Jazz has no great wing scorers! You act like he was checking a prime Dominique Wilkins or Mitch Richmond. They were a execution pick and roll team. Love shoots better, rebounds better and is a better scorer than Pippen! Pippen defends better and passes better. Neither are scrubs. Lebron uses Love wrong! 6 of those dudes have career scoring averages in double figures and 3 more score 9 points or more just under 10 for their careers! Lebron uses them wrong and refuses to play defense! The offensive system Lebron runs and that Ty Lue and every coach let him run is why they losing and no defense. If those same players are playing in the Spurs or Warriors offensive systems they will look good and be efficient.

I say that cause the goal of basketball is to put the ball in the hoop the most. People said Jordan is better than Kareem or Bill because he was a better player. IAM FROM THE NETHERLANDS if you're saying they are a super team due to them knowing how to work as a team, communicated on defense and had great success then yes but if you are saying because of their big 3 then no. Them working as a team allowed role players to look better than they really were because they were actually allowed to play their role. Ex: kukoc, kerr

      IAM FROM THE NETHERLANDS but you didn't answer the question, in that specific game would he have been able to win no matter what because of his teammates? Or did he do what was needed to close it out?

    When the greatest defensive player ever casually says “He carried me for the last 11 seasons” you know the player he’s talking about is something else 🐐

      He's not the best defensive player ever... It's Bill Russell or Dikember Mutombo, then Hakeen Olojuwon, Gary Payton, Wilt Chamberlain, Ben Wallave, Rodman, Jordan, Alonson Morning... I still love Scottie Pippen, he's a lower version of MJ two way playing style. But taller, humbler, he can adapt... He was one of the kind in many ways.

      @@arielgarcia2642 really? dude won 6 titles in the most defensive era ever. The 90s. Team scoring was lower than ever. The era where Bill Russell dominated was the least defensive era, thats why teams were scoring 110- 118ppg Without a 3 point line, and people just camped in the lane due to no 3 second rule. Bill was a great defender of course but the Celtics success came more so the lack of competition and also how great his team was. They had 6 HOF players AND coached by Red Auerbach, they were stacked. The other players you mentioned like Payton and Mourning got smacked by the Bulls repeatedly. Maybe Pippen isnt the goat defender but he has a better case than some of the guys you mentioned.

    So humble.... Dayum Scottie. Without you Mike could not have done it. You were definitely what helped to make Mike the greatest. There was a team but Scottie! Scottie! Scottie! Scottie! Scottie!
