- Star Fox 64 3D review. Classic Game Room reviews STAR FOX 64 3D for Nintendo 3DS. Starfox 64 3D is a 3-D remake of the 1997 classic, Star Fox 64, on Nintendo 64. This Star Fox 64 3D video review has StarFox 64 3D gameplay in HD from the NIntendo 3DS. Nintendo's 3D remake of Star Fox 64 is a slick remastering of the original game cartridge with updated visuals, 3D effect, 2 gameplay modes and a local multiplayer played from 1 3DS game pak mode. After players shoot down loads of bad guys an end bosses to beat Star Fox 64 3D they can then enjoy a score attack mode.
Is this game specifically for hardcore gamers or is it also suited for less experienced gamers? Also is there an selectable difficulty?
"Help! There's a bogey on my tail!"
"Yes.. that is my missile"
I love this show
I like going through cgr playlists so I can find great videos I forgot about like this one!
Where did you get your cables to record 3DS footage?
You just haaaad to put that in at the end...and this is why I love you Mark.
haha, i love the little monologue of mark towards slippy!
If I used those cables you stick in your 3DS to record gameplay footage and played on a Sony 3D T.V., would I be able to see 3DS games in 3D on it?
@ultraintensegamer
im pretty sure that CGR just films the screen with the HD camera,
Why did they re-dub the voice acting?
I'm new with this. How do you go to different planets other then just the ones I always go to?
is this worth buying? just bought myself a 3DS and so far i've gotten Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Super Mario Land 3D and Mario Kart 7. im loving the games but i wanna diversify. i remember i played starfox 64 on the n64 but i barely remember any of it
"Help Fox! There's a boggy(SP?) on my tail!"
"Yes Slippy, I know, that's one of my missiles"
and Peppy is somewhere in the back screaming, "DO A BARREL ROLL!"
that looks awesome but i`m thinking about getting it bbut should i get starfox or mario kart 3d?
@Ketorulz True. Atari 2600 had Bloody Human Freeway, though technically, Freeway was a remake of Bloody Human Freeway but released much later.
OMG that sockpuppet talking gets me everytime, thats just fucking hilarious.
It's incredible how much better the game actually looks when your playing it in 3D on your 3DS but I guess we're confronted with this problem quite often in the future.
Slippy: Help Fox, there's a bogey on my tail!
Mark: YES! That's one of my missiles, good bye.
"not only could u see ur friends expression next to you, but you could also reach over and punch him" hahahaha that just killed me :D :D :D
I bought this game along with my red 3DS yesterday, and beat it within thirty minutes. Any other games I should buy? I was thinking Asphalt 3D but I'm not sure.
there's just something about this guy that makes me smile in his reviews, let's see IGN do that...
Goldeneye re-release on the 3ds with touch screen targeting while the view is on the top screen?
My new favorite. Mark should have conversations with himself more often.
whoa nice graphics! i cant wait to get my hands on that game
Up until the end I was wondering where the "Do a barrel roll" line was lol
Ending clip comes up:
Clip: Never give up!
Me: No barrel roll? I'm surprised...
Clip: ...DO A BARREL ROLL!
Me: YES!!!!!!!!!!
@TheDevineBeing
It's a portable game, It's not meant to be huge adventures like OOT. You're not going to play a game on the bus or car for many hours. Plus you can replay the levels in short amounts which is perfect for portable consoles.
When your teammates are in trouble in all-range mode, it says "S.O.S" in the European version :)
My first 3DS game and it brings back so many awesome memories. Fun and awesome game.
@nintendo4thewin Congratulations man! Happy birthday :)
Should I get this or OoT3D?
"That's it, get me the napalm.
Slippy is going down.
on fire.
IN 3D!!!"
XD
Just bought it a few minutes ago, and already tested it! Pretty slick but I wish they could just let you choose the previous planets you've completed and play every one you want (in the story mode) in order to unlock all the planets in one playthrough.
When he said They are under you table watching you from afar I scared searched if they are under my desk XD
This honestly felt like a better, fuller experience for me. O.O I haven't owned it, but I borrowed it from a friend for a week and I got "Starfox Fever". (Yes, I'll call it that. XD) I couldn't put it down. The graphics shouldn't be that important, but the improved visuals and 3D effect really enhanced the experience for me. All in all, I love both this version and the 64 version.
how do you record ds gameplay?
I was playing this yesterday thinking it probably wouldn't be long before CGR did a review. Called it. Also I guess I've managed to learn to sync my head movements with my hands or something because I had no trouble keeping the 3D effect while using the motion controls.
Should I get star fox 64 3d or resident evil the mercenaries 3d??
i still laugh when slippy says oh no over and over again
I was like "NO BARREL ROLL REFERENCE?!" and then Peppy saves the day at he end WOOT BARREL ROLLS!!!
This is one of the games I'm going to pick up when I get my 3DS (waiting for Kingdom Hearts 3D bundle, if they release one).
Nice. Ending with the barrel roll.
Mark, get some mounting tape and put the 3DS on your table or something to keep from moving or tilting the screen to lose the3D effect.
So after all these years, what was wrong with the G Diffuser?
Can you review "Primal Rage" the arcade version or the midway arcade treasure version? please :3
@Ketorulz I see your point, eh what the hell I still love Nintendo in one way or another. I just kinda wish the launch titles weren't mostly remakes. I would like to see the 3DS succeed
My God I remember when this was cutting edge now it fits in my palm. In 3D.
Fantastic Mr. Starfox... In 3D
"The anime's coming from behind!"
I wonder if I should buy it.
I played this game by a friends house years ago but I am not really sure if I might like it. :(
When peppy tells you to do a barrel roll, YOU DO THAT SHIT
no Star Fox 64 review is complete without a barrel roll
It's weird to hear this game in English - I live in Taiwan so they sell the Japanese version here. Great game, great review!
Great fun commentary/review!
is their gonna be a Clusters Revenge 3D?
Mark the best reviewer
Does metroid on virtual console count?
Very good the 3D review :D
I tried a demo for this game a my local BestBuy store and I must say the I prefer the old voice acting and script compared to the new ones. "Hey genius I'm on your side" sounds more harsh than "Hey Eisenstein I'm on your side." The graphics look great and I do intend on getting this game even though I have the original on my Nintendo Wii console. I don't hate Slippy toad because he is a useful ally, and I never thought he was a girl the first time I played.
@AnimalXing 3Different marks?
I remember X and CosmoTank on Game Boy looking amazing! But go and find videos...they don't. But they did when they were new!
@TheDutchGame True.Nintendo does that a lot.The problem is people who actually buy the remakes.Nintendo knows that a good number of people will buy they rehashes no matter what.
Gotta love how they kept the cheesy dialogue from the original in the remake, with very few changes in the script, the only memorable one being "Hey Einstein, I'm on your side," being changed to "Hey genius, I'm on your side," when you accidentally shoot Falco.
the best part is the end and why is not the video be bad but the barrel roll
Why did they add new voices? The original voices were perfectly fine. Overall it’s a classic game with great updated visuals. Playing on the N64 was the best.
I was so expecting that when peppy said "Never give up, trust ur instincts," you would have said something along the lines of "So u want me to kill Slippy?"
@TheDevineBeing I agree if you own the 64 version this port isnt needed (unless you really want a portable version) buy I grew up in a differant era of games. This game is still legit for people like me who want to jump into the series.
Is there any game on 3DS that is not a rehash of some older game?
@MegaXZeroForever aYeah I still can`t get forget the part where Fox said, "Falco you suck at poker".Then Falco said "Theres something wrong with the D- Difuzer!" what ever it it was called it was hilarius!!! XD
Your reviews are much better than IGN
Well, Mr. Anderson...there's no escaping 3D...it's inevitable.
I've seen a lot of conflicting reviews of this game on various websites recently. Gametrailers' review complains about the game lacking online features and that the 3D effect is worthless while Gamesradar's says it's too shallow. However, they all agree that the game is good, but it's not the killer app we were all hoping for.
Wow. I actually bought a game before CGR reviewed it. I'm awesome.
At least one game that definitely gives reason to think about the 3ds.
why does mark sound so synthesized and robotic here?
Epic ending.
does this game have online play
wish mark would review more 3ds game, he missed out on a lot.
Nothing beats the original voice acting. Hey Einstein I'm on your side.
I don't get why you wouldn't like this game if you liked the original...isn't it just higher definition Starfox 64? Or do people just miss the chunky polygons? (which i totally understand...)
Damn, I can't believe that a 14 years old game is better than most of the 3DS games out there at the moment. This game is still awesome.
this game is just absolutely fantastic!!!
Just finished Expert 100% Gotta say this game is Great! James And Leon's Voices Are Still the Best! Andrew Scream at Venom 2 was disapointing but other than that Another amazing Remake of An already Amazing Game Nintendo!(:
Mark needs to release his reviews on the 3ds.
Respond to this video... their was a lot of voice editing in this review, but still awsome :)
I saw this video and remembered his original review and thought " I hope he still kills slippy lol"
How?
20 yrs ago 3D at the end of a title wouldve meant "not 8 bit" but it's cool. :D
Nintendo really needs to release a Saw "Face Mask" peripheral for the 3DS that... 'discourages' you from moving your head.
@BLASR24 Fox: "Peppy, did you forget your medication again?"
Shooting Slippy's ship until his life bar is gone & sent to "the docking bay" in exchange for a medal if you get a successful score after beating a level? Well worth it!
are that sonic rings on the top of the screen screen? o.o
R.O.B. the robot would just destroy everything he saw. First 5 minutes of the game, game over everything dead. Now all the games in the world are Stacker and Gyromyte.
i miss this format.
@JackBandicootsBunker OOt was a quality remake and the best way to enjoy the clasic game. This looks like it will be good to.
There's many tiny little issues with oot that the 3ds version fixed yet it feels very mush as I remember it. The enhanced graphics look so in keeping with the original that its only on direct comparison to the original I realise how ruff the original game looked in comparison.
When did this guy change his opinion about 3D? He seemed annoyed about the 3D aspect in the 3DS hardware review.
"Can't let you do that, Starfox!"
@gilesahrun To you and all, Miyamoto has said that if this remake doesn't sell like hotcakes, there will be no more Star Fox games.
They will kill the franchise if it fails to sell well.
I'd usually hate anyone asking for thumbs up but I believe a lot of fans don't know this, so I'll just ask please.
It'd be a shame to see this series die. Talk about that, are you going to axe F-Zero too, Ninty?
Solar looks cool on the 3DS
The fact that the 3DS version can let you choose your path automatically makes this better than the 64 original.
"Help Fox! There's a bogey on my tail!"
"The enemy's cumming from behind!"
"Fox, get this guy off me!!"
