I can’t believe I got into this sport over 20 years ago in the crazy frigid in Tahoe with the old Double Up Crew watching guys like Nelson and yourself and being inspired and here I am at 46, two kids, teaching them how while barely even being able to clear the wake myself anymore and I’m spending 10 minutes of my work day watching your video to get inspired again for the weekend. Keep it up Shaun. You have me reenergized!!
I'm Kinda retroactively getting my dad, a long time slalom skier, into wakeboarding he's a heelside hero @57yo and shreds, 180s all day! So much fun. Here in MI we just had our last weekend on the lake for the summer, nighttime temps almost to the 30s.
@@whatwethinkwebecome2891 love it! Don't neglect the slalom ski. Borrow his ski for a rip too! And honestly, combos are a great time as well. Looking like that'll be next season though.
Still king of style and the raley! Years ago I was at the pro stop on Lake Allatoona in Dallas Landing/Acworth GA and the riders started just out of sight behind some trees. When Shaun's turn came, the first glimpse you got was him already laid out in a raley and it looked it was like he jumped out of the trees from about 20 feet up...obviously he is still throwing down after 20+ years.
You are awesome, keep inspiring everyone with your riding and style man, hopefully you come back to Australia soon, also a relaunch of wakeboarding unleashed is needed, get it!!!
@@shaneslade8459 Assuming you mean Stargaze during the raley. That happens when you are back foot heavy or take off too soon. Or both. Keep your hips square to the rope's pull and don't be super anxious to get going on it.
@@Shaun.Murray yes stargaze.. thanks for the tips. I think I do get a little anxious to get up and going with it. I’ll be applying these tips next trip! Thanks for all you do!
@@billystyle27 now why you gotta go bring somethin like that up?! Now I feel like I gotta try one! Gimme the ol' super tower Dean Lavelle used to use and it's a deal.
That was huge! have you ever tried to jump two wakes from boats running side by side so insted of going to flat you land on the down side of the second boats wake?
Yes and it's not the best bc you have to have the boats a just the right distance or you case it super hard. And that distance is honestly not legal bc you're supposed to be 200' from any other boat or dock.
@@Shaun.Murray yea casing the second would not be good on the knees. If you find a spot away from the fun police the 2 boats can give some cool combinations with the V shaped wake or surf wave. Just need good communication/drivers.
I’d love to see some more of the pro guys have a double up raley contest. They would go to the moon. The use the football pads might be necessary though. I always used to watch the bull shoals video of you with the creed track in the back ground you through that raley through a tree gap and it’s still one of the craziest things I’ve seen on a wakeboard.
How do you land massive airs out in the flats? It looks effortless, like the angle you land with the trope tension take out the shock. I slap down pretty hard out in the flats and can’t be going half as high.
Good question Greg. It actually has to do w line tension and the farther I go out past the direct line of pull, the less the rope hits me on landing. Have you watched the edit where I talk about Soft Landings? ua-cam.com/video/eutuabWcKMk/v-deo.html
For that ride, it was only a wake jump or 2. Probably should do more, but I usually start w some good carving, re-entry airs, wake to wake jumps for at least a half dozen airs...and then send it
@@adamramsbottom6757 take the bindings off, stand on the board barefoot, slow down to about 17, only a short cut needed. About 10 feet out is enough. Mellow cut in, load a hard cut at the bottom of the wake, and then release the power of the cut at the top of the wake by letting your hips go away from the handle at the top of the wake. Keep your eyes looking forward in the direction you're going. Once you're on your way up, relax and don't fight your feet going up. If you feel like you have to kick your feet up, you're trying too hard. The push of the cut should put your legs up there above your head. At the top, then begin to pull your feet down, but honestly doesn't take much to bring them down if they go up right. You may have to weight one side of the boat to get the wake you're jumping to stay clean. You don't need both sides clean for this. Remember that this is a magnified wake jump, not an invert. You're just going out the front of a wake jump and doesn't have to be this massive thing.
It's called a Raley? My kids named it the "Super Shaun" (they see it a lot in your intros). How high did you get? I won't tell my kids the real name of the trick ;-)

Yes love it!! I like how you mounted GoPro on your vest 😂😂👍🏼 good to see Andrew being around!
Man you make it look so effortless, and a raley looks like such an incredibly fun trick to do .
Super fun to fly like that, and when I can see my shadow or even reflection, even better!
The shot from drone during the 2nd Raley looking down on the water with this Superman shadow in the water was really cool.
I always enjoy a good Raley that I can see my shadow or even reflection when the water is super calm
Huge! Love the 2nd one with your shadow! So wicked!
Those are fun when I can look down and see it:)
Love it!!! Raleys are probably my favorite trick to watch. You just lay it out so nice it's really smooth! Sick edit!

Smaller wakes and tying low doesn't make it impossible, but def harder. Try slowing the boat down. Have you tried it w out boots on the board?
