Not really tho. Zerg died because their supply depos fly and die in a matter of seconds vs wraith making them unable to produce and thus hard shutdown. While Mutas work on an entirely different concept of killing SCVs, widdling down marine forces, mineral starving the terran till you can overpower their army and camp the production.
That was a sick game love seeing the unconventional play! More casts Artosis I could watch these all day! haha thanks for the effort you put into these.
I can understand being hesitant on making spores because the first wraith wasn't a guarantee for more, but not cancelling your third when you scout a delayed CC is pretty greedy. What a game!
3:22 Ok so, I'm thinking Zerg wins this? It'll be slow but, holy crap. 3 bases are almost up. Again, it'll take time to get those bases saturated but, once he does he'll just be balling out of control. Again, this is a call from a noob who doesn't know SC on the pro level. I just see 3 bases on the way and think "Oh, stonks. Stonks is good, right?" Not unless Ziggy kills him before he can get that economy going I guess. Ok so, just finished the video. Yeah, this is why I'm a noob. Nice win Ziggy! That was so cool!
well, this is the reason you don't go 3 base early as zerg vs a terran going early tech, having to hold 3 positions costs too much, he could have blind hard countered it by going hydra + evo before lair, throwing down one spore in each base with speed + range (this is what Hero does, and flash when he offraces and senses a 2 port wraith), issue is if the terran only makes 1-2 wraiths and just does a 8 minute marine medic + 2 tank timing you just lose. It's sort of the issue with ZvT though, there's so many possible timings/tech choices (2 port wraith, 2 rax fast push, double factory speed vults, fast stim drop, etc) that you can't really properly prepare for all, you just can't afford it. Also beast went overpool vs a wall tech build, which is really bad since a 2 hatch is obviously safe vs it and you have more economy to defend whatever tech timing terran has, overpool is good vs a 1 rax gasless expand since you force a bunker/can delay the CC so it's not so bad, vs overpool you can't delay the tech and you would rather have the economy of a 12 hatch into pool build. And that's why we see 2 hatch muta almost every game since it gets mutas out fast enough to stop any tech build from terran, id imagine this was TR16 with poland to korea so beast didn't want to go 2 hatch muta on a laggy game, can't blame him.
Yeah really surprised he didn't canel the third base at 3:00 minutes when he sees a wall with 1 marine. Has to be like some kind of tech or fast CC but without confirmation you have to expect it's something like that and just stay on 2 bases. At least I would as a protoss player.
At pro level they expect to be able to beat the wraiths without needing spores. Is that hubris? Yes. The zerg player needed to build spores after seeing that first wraith out so early, way too dangerous when you are 3 basing and you see something like that. The moment of truth was when he failed with his scourge though.
Takes a long time and a big commitment (considering he already went 3 hatch spire with Sunkens) to get that tech going. Needs an evolution chamber + creep colony + spore colony (80 seconds + 300 minerals to get the first spore if you include the two drones, which is resources he needs to make Hydra/economy), so he gambled that Ziggy can't micro against Hydras.
They do dude. It used to be a very popular build back in the day like back in 2000. It's an original TvZ build. Problem is that mutas fight so well vs wraiths and good zergs just know how to fight it. surprised to see him keep the third base.. and then stay on hydra instead of trying to make muta. even a few muta beat a few wraiths as loing as the overlord is microed and is close enough to detect.
He will lost straight away with that. During that time he will pass the map it will lost all drones and oves. He can probably get some spore up in one or two bases but it will be very far behind. Zerglings will do nothing to teran vulture. There was like 6 hydras max and teran can easily counter those vulutures + some marines + some wraith + scvs. Lack of scouting and greed of 3 bases killed zerg.
Making 3 bases vs 1 base tech. Was the death sentance and he knew it. Protecting all that with spores and sunks is impossible. Not enough drones or Econ.
@@petervlcko4858 it was greed plus not making any spores IMO. If the zerg had done 2 base that wraith attack would not have been nearly as deadly even without spores. The terran went so deep into wraith so the spores would have been more than worth it..honestly if you see a wraith that early as zerg and don't make spores your only hope is a solid scourge hit which the zerg player failed to land.
@@aljoker7808 u need 2 spores to stop 8+ wraiths sniping all your drones. At each base. + The sunks for the vult. If he went hdra speed before spire and lair. He could of survived. Easy?, far from it. Protecting 3 locations at once with pure hydra. Harder then it looks. Problem is, he'd have lost too many drones to be able to mount a big enough army to counter. That's why 3rd exp are always rare in this matchup.
Why didn’t he make any spores? Like literally none? All it would take is what, 3 spore colonies? It would have allowed him to mass hydras and even go for lurkers and just run up to his base and do their lurker shenanigans
If Artosis was the Zerg player, he would say, "This guy is terrible! What do I pair up with morons that does not open standard! He is more talented than I am!" Joking guys, hahah.
This is one annoying build to deal with for zerg. Even an immediate pool runs into a wall.. i can imagine you will want to end up building mutalisks later on if you survive the wraiths because there is hardly any marines and no turrets.. just watched some of the Z v Z and im thinking about a way to make a hydra build work for it so i can have my own style of play. Those crazy muta sqourge battles needs to be dealt with..
Bro you do understand Beast is one of the best zergs in the world? You might be right, but it's easy to judge being a spectator and having seen how the game played out. Additionally, you should assume Beast made better decisions than you would have considering he's literally a million times better than you at the game.
As a Bulgarian, I was delighted to watch a brother Polish take down a Korean. He needs to up his micro a little, but overall - loved it!
Love seeing Terran being successful at cheese for a change

Yummmmy. Good one
Rage on stream, professional on cast.
Balanced, as all things should be
Should beast have tried to make a couple spore colonies when he realised it was 2 port wraith?
overweight self-confidence
One or two should’ve helped, thing is Zerg tries avoiding making colonies since they don’t want to sacrifice drones unnecessarily.
I don't think he even had an evo chamber when the wraiths showed up, so it was probably too late.

bro build an evo and a spore!! omg. a single spore can take on like 10 wraiths.

The money he spent on hydras he could have built an evo and spore on two bases.
His real mistake was splitting hydas so heavily and allowing the wraiths to just go back and forth between main and natural picking off ovies
When he did 3 base and saw that early wraith it was time to rush spores out, he gambled everything on his scourge hitting.
