The 550 is a beautiful and complex looking model. The AF1 is loved for its simplicity and flair. People comparing the two are literally just looking at the outlines of the shoes.
I hope the hype goes down this year so I can cop more. I’m really digging this model. They remind me more of a dunk low than an AF1 but with more character, better quality and waaay more comfortable. I have a few I’m eyeing!
I suggest getting the GR pairs, massively underrated and not too expensive, particularly the Orange or the Red which are always relatively cheap.
Yeah YCMC has a red blue one still sitting if the website is right.
I'm glad that people are finally waking up to New Balance because they make some really dope kicks it just sucks that they are gaining hype now and getting harder to cop

Yo! What do you guys think about the sizing of these?! I found it hard to call, I have a 9 and a 9.5 (im a 9.5 usually) 9 felt too snug for my wide foot, but 9.5 felt a little roomy lol. What you guys recommend to others, leave a comment what you went with and if it worked ok! Also 550 restock tomorrow am in description!
I recommend staying true to size. I find there to be heel slippage whether you stay true to size or half size down. But I will say that goin a half size down the shoe becomes too narrow. That is why I recommend staying try to size !
I'm a TTS 7, but wear 550s in a 6.5. They loosen up after a wear or two, so I've always gone a half size down. I do feel that wide footers should stick TTS though

I went half size down and 9 fit me nice. I hit a 9.5 on flx so I’ll get back once I receive that pair. I’m also a 9.5 but have heard these run a little big
I love this model, definitely planning on a buying 1 pair, love the many layers it has and it’s not plain like the AF1 or jordans.

This is one of my favourite retro bb models. Honestly they've only dropped really classic colour ways so far and really ill. I think this is more dunk-like imo

Got the red and black pair from the shifted sports pack on sale for $56 shipped in November. Best come up of the year. They’re still holding up good. I’ve taken them in the snow, camping, casual walking, they’ve been everywhere. Definitely a great shoe but honestly the highest I’d pay is retail unless it’s a collaborative pair.

Lucked out on the ALD restock last year in green. Definitely one of my most worn shoes, although I wouldn't mind getting a GR pair as well as long as it's at retail. Restocks always go quick.

Hey, love the vids and watch most your vids when deciding to buy a new pair of trainers, still yet to buy the nb 1080 v11s but defo on my buy list,
just thought i would comment to say of all the trainer makers out there, i have found the new balance trainers to be built the best, never any sign of glue
and stitching always on point, i know most heads prefer nikes but for me you really do get a quality pair of shoes when buying new balance
they are usually priced well to which is great.

Everybody has their favorite. Mine is the 998 by far. Although, the OG 990 (990v1) is simply iconic and the quality is unmatched; it's impossible to convey until they're in-hand & on foot. The 997s look great but are a bit stiff. 992s are prbly the most comfy IMO.

@@hgr.7857 yes! im personally a 992 fan myself. comfort is unmatched and a nice silhouette. but the 990v1 is by far the most classic and is never a bad option.
@@thebenestrada I was born in 1982 & have seen ppl wearing of 990s my whole life (but too 💸💸💸). This year, the shoe turned 40 & as an adult, I could double up. Best money I've spent in a long time. Absolutely unmatched, unreal quality. The suede!?! It is SO soft... Impossible to describe.
And just 🔥💯🔥 The simplicity is part of the beauty. Those & Air Max 90 Infrareds are two of my 1💛💛% faves

Great breakdown as usual. I’m not actually feeling the look of the 550’s.. I think it’s the toe box and overall oval like geometry with those af1 type midsoles… idk just not my fav but it is interesting to see others take on the shoe.
Bring that 99-Series video. Can you also clarify in the video whether it’s true that the higher the shoe number = more cushion. 👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽
NB has a reputation for sneakers of average comfort but with quality that stands the test of time...
550 vs BB550... thanks for clarifying it, cause even on NB's website I've seen it listed both ways. Was trying to figure out IF there was a difference, like how the 997 and the 997H's are.

The GRs are definitely worth picking up at retail, not resale. If you’re gonna be paying resale just go find one of the collabs instead, since those all have way better materials.

I have a pair. The toe cap, where it bends when you walk, pushes down on the lateral side of my metatarsal bone of my pinkie toe. Not sure how I can fix this. Maybe the construction of it is a bit flawed.

I just got the Marblehead in the mail and idk… I slipped my foot in and wasn’t wowed. Seemed uncomfortable without walking in them but don’t want to in DS is they aren’t worth keeping.

i like the 550, specifically that shadow colorway....but the hype isn't worth it, there are soo many models with the similar shape you can get for cheaper and look just as good with outfits
