Dean village & Stocksbridge are 2 of many places in Edinburgh where I go to clear my head
Wow this is a video I didn't think I would need! It's amazing how wide open your eyes need to be walking around Edinburgh. I think Dean Village would be a great place to go to after getting off the Caledonian Sleeper at 7am before all the attractions open!
I love all the architecture and History!
Thankyou I have always wondered how to,get there i will be going when I am allowed to travel to Edinburgh
Awesome Channel Tony, Thanks for helping me reminisce my youth.
I was born in Edinburgh and moved to Canada as a teenager in the late 1980's. Your wee tours of Edinburgh really bring me back to this amazing city. Keep up the great work.
Just wanted to let you know how much joy you’re bringing to this nervous traveler from the other side of the world. Much thanks!
You are so welcome. That's what the videos are for. I hope you have a great visit.
Miller's Row which is alongside the river, go down just past the well....I love watching the waterr cascade down towards Leith its a place I love spending time at
I love when you do voices! 🤣. I will add Dean Village to my list of must sees next time I’m in Edinburgh, that’s for sure!
Dean Village is stunning. I walked there from Haymarket via Palmerston Place. Again a short walk if you don't ( and you should ) duck into Saint Mary's Church and the Arthur Conan Doyle Center. Poke around in these two beautiful buildings. Stunning architecture.
The neighborhood through Randolph Crescent over to Murray Place is an architectural wonder. The buildings are magnificent and the history fascinating. Well worth a wonder about. 👍
So much to see and do in such easy walkable spaces! Edinburgh has to be the best walking city that I’ve ever experienced, what’s not to love 💕....and fingers crossed will be able to experience again if The Corona will ever go away 🦠 😖 Take care 🙋♀️
Inga you make ny heart warm..Edinburgh is the very best capital city on the planet for walking everywhere and eating and drinking 24/7...love from lockdown Spain.
Thanks Tony. I sort of suggested this walk on your live chat last week. My wife and I will be following your footsteps in a few weeks time 👍
Davey Palmer Touch a few really old buildings & doors for me, please! It's going to be another 3 years before our trip.
What an amazing town to call home..Another fun video. I hadn't thought about bagels in Edinburgh. When l lived on Long Island, the secret to the bagels was the water. I look forward to going to Bros Bagels, and Gregg's, of course. 😋💙🏴💙
Enjoyed the stroll Tony ..thanks..ggtthb.
"Look. I'm the boss. Just do it!" 😝😝😝 You're a scream, Tony!
I really enjoyed this video (and found myself wishing it had been up before my first trip to Edinburgh so I wouldn't have gotten so lost!). I think the "how to get there" is a good idea, and I look forward to the bike video that you're planning to do. For your "Edinburgh Then and Now" series, might you consider a couple of Alexander Nasmyth paintings, such as "Edinburgh Castle and the Nor' Loch" or "Princes Street with the commencement of the building of the Royal Institution 1825?"
I'm rather sad today, having made reservations last September to arrive in Edinburgh TODAY (staying at Grassmarket No. 1). Who would have thought 7 months ago that we would still be battling COVID so intensely and that travel wouldn't be back up and running? For now I'll enjoy Edinburgh vicariously through your channel. Thanks for coming up with such great ideas week-to-week!
Heidi Meyer: Bonus points for getting the word 'vicariously' into a UA-cam comment ;-) Gonna look up those paintings, sounds fascinating.
@@patchso Wow! Thanks! :-)
This is the same route I took in 2019 when I visited Edinburgh great walk to Dean village. Will definitely be back soon.
A wonderful start to my Saturday morning. Thank you
Great video! Got lost trying to find Dean Village the last time I visited - I wish I had a video like this to go by at the time, but you can bet I will be following this route on my next trip, so lovely.
I stayed in deans village on my trip to Edinburgh loved it
Brilliant I'm glad I found this always wanted to visit Dean Village didn't know it was that close ! Cheers for this now I know where to head , going to check out your other video 👍
Thanks, Tony. Always enjoy your awesome video tours.
Thank you for your videos. We are going to be in Edinburgh April 15 to the 22nd. Looking forward to it.
This is so helpful for my upcoming trip to Edinburgh! I watched your old video of Dean village and have added that to my list of things to see and do!
Another crackin' video Tony. Great job. Can't wait to see that in September.
I love your videos! I pass over Dean bridge every time I go home to fife from Edinburgh
Looking good brother, glad you're all doing good
I stayed in Dean village in 2019 loved it
I love Dean Village. It’s definitely like stepping into another era from busy Princes street. I really like how you’re just as fascinated by old building and their architectural style as visitors.
That was really helpful I now will be able to go visit Dean village, never been!! Thanks 🙏
I’m taking notes of all the places to visit!
Nice one Tony, it is surprising how easy it is to get to some of these places.
Thanks you so much. I will be using your video as reference. Thankyou. Thankyou
Dean Village is stunning. Thanks for the video Tony! :)
Hey Tony! I’m coming back in September can’t wait. We are going to do the Harry Potter train. Jacobite train I watch your video on this train. We will be going to end up in London at the end of our tour. Was glad we starting out there again. Love Scotland. ❤️
There is a house there that is decorated in the Georgian style that you can visit. I was there a couple of years ago, No 7 Charlotte Square. It is very cool if you have a chance to visit.
Hi Tony, like you i live in and love Edinburgh. I noticed that when you zoomed in on the Melville Street sign there was other signage to the left of it and as I was going to the west end on Saturday anyway I went to have look and sure enough it looks as though the newer stonework of the Clydesdale bank has been built over Melville Place signage.
Tom.
Excited about this one!
Another interesting video, thanks. Strolled down this exact same route last time I was up in Edinburgh. To all of those asking how to get from A to B, may I politely suggest something called 'a map' :-)
Dean village is beautiful and it's such a contrast to the New Town just minutes away. As a Bristolian, I know the city of Bath very well. I could be blindfolded and dropped into either Bath or the New Town of Edinburgh, and I'd struggle to tell the difference (that is until I heard the local accent, of course). Dean village, on the other hand, is kind of like a cross between a Derbyshire mill town and Portmeirion, in Gwynedd (home of 'The Prisoner').
Love the architectural details also. The street names, both "carved in" and "sticky oot" :-) Did I mention that I just love the accent? Can't help but noticing that you guys are also well prepared for independence, with yer Parliament and embassies ;-)
One of most beautiful and enchanting city in the world.. Not doubt that. The last time I was there, I went from Princes Street to Dean Village, anf from Dean to two great Museums not far away from D. Village.. And from the Museums coming Back to P. Street 🚩 Edinburgh is perfect for walking.. Great Video and Greetings from Spain 🍏
Awesome as always
SUPER !!!
You're hilarious Tony! I loved the argument about the bricks 🤣. I'm going to be in Scotland end of September into October (if all goes well) and that really helped as I'll probably wander to Dean Village. Thanks as usual!
Loved today’s video!
Brilliant vlog, now I know exactly how to get there, thanks Tony x
really enjoyed your video! lovely!
Lovely walk and beautiful architecture! Thank you.
I really like these videos, and thoroughly enjoyed binge watching when I came across your channel earlier in the year. Great too because it does give you a fair idea of the layout of the city. I hope I can muster up the courage one day to move there..
Can you go to the Scotland fishing villages and show them were it is a world full of colour and and beautiful . I did live in Scotland 11 years in Linlithgow and I know very well the country .I don't live anymore in UK but in Sintra .
Thanks to your videos I feel like I know how to get around Edinburgh on my own. Hoping to make it there this winter. Can't wait! Question, are there any festivals or big holidays in the first two weeks of November in Edinburgh? I've been watching hotel prices and they seem to spike at that time. Can't find anything online about things at that time of year. Thanks again for all your work,Tony.
How about doing a GeoGuesser video some time? Set it to Edinburgh only and see how well you know the city
My family and I made that same walk 5 years back, the goal being to get to St. Bernard's Well to try and get some nice pictures at sunset. Got a bit lost and missed the photo op, but the walk, and the sites, were glorious all the same. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
A wee criticism: I'd love to share this clip with them, but I fear the shaky video would be a challenge for the queasy. :p
Is that gelato shop with the friendly resident dog still there on Queensferry Street?
See when u zoomed in to the mellvile street carving what did the carving used to say next to it? Was it mellvile place
When does the new Jonnie Walker experience open do you know? Great vlog too, gives me idea when I’m in Edinburgh next year
They have not announced a date yet, I don’t think.
What can kids do in adigbrah?

But I mean what tourist in their right mind doesn't faff about taking in the view on the way to the view? It would probably take me 20 minutes.
