6/10
Y'all know this is just my opinion, right?
I just fell to my knees in a walmart
I did the same, but it wasn’t bc of a Fantano review…🤤🤤🤤
I just saw someone fall to their knees at Walmart
Rollback
I just saw someone fall to their knees in Walmart and then I saw another person pull out their phone and start typing about how they just saw someone fall to their knees in Walmart
@@randywhite3947 I saw the same, but it wasn't bc of a Fantano review... 🤤🤤🤤
I can never predict what score you’ll give to St. Vincent
Nahhhh, I saw this one coming.
St. Anthony works in mysterious ways.
That’s how these artist’s music are usually. I liked the Big Time Nothing the song musically, pretty cool stuff.
7
yea i thought this was better than daddy’s home but daddy’s home was no 9 to me
If mass seduction came out today.... that review thumbnail would be crazy
If it was titled “All Born Creaming” you would have given it a lower rating
yeah thats probably true actually
First time I've laughed at one of these comments
cal woulda got this thing demonetized
Truuueee
And the Cal Chuchesta skit woulda gotten the account banned
I swear when it comes to St Vincent he just picks the score out of a hat and tailors his review accordingly.
Nah I more or less agree with the score
Yeah true, MASSEDUCTION and this album are not 6’s
This is way above masseduction. It kind of proves her point. we are obsessed with the artist's personal experiences a little bit. To me, this record has a lot of layers of commentary about our culture.
I mean YOUR culture I'm not american thank God
@@tomasschiappacassi2401 MASSEDUCTION is better for me. Maybe I just like the poppier type tracks, but Jack Antonoff’s production with Annie’s lyricism are a perfect pair
This review crushed me. I think this album is at least an 8 if not 9
Same, don’t know how he didn’t get more out of it
It’s an eight. My favorite of hers.
It's so good, no skips. Been replaying it since it dropped.
Then ignore the review? Why does his review mean anything if you fw the album then keep listening
@@sweeps6089 We can say if we disagree if we want, lol. That's why there are comments.
Heartening to see the world come together to disagree with this review
All Born Screaming, not that Drake would know with his daughter
Or son as the case may be
Dammmn
Daughters* likely lmfao
hes gay tho
Damn
I loved Daddy's home but it was definitely not a 9 out of 10 album. All born screaming is a much stronger record.
Hard Agree
Definitely
Daddy’s Home wasn’t a 9. It was a 10
'Daddy's Home' was terrible. 'All Born Screaming' is right up there with 'Masseduction.'
@@JustMeeZZ What was so bad about it?
Haven’t disagreed so hard with a review of yours in a while. This is a light 9 for me.
It was an 8 for me. The last 2 tracks don’t really work, but the rest is good
Same
I feel like y'all too easy to please. A lot of pretty boring songs here
An album with reggae lite So Many Planets does not belong on a light 9 album
@@Fred_bob even London Calling has Revolution Rock in it, give her a break😂
nahhhh this is at least an 8, fantastic album from annie
Agreed
Yeah I agree, not her best but still solid
It deserves at least a decent-to-strong 8 Fantano score imho, simply because it's her first self-produced album and it shows by the bold yet consistent sounds produced by the use of contrasting styles and sonic palettes all across the record. I won't even hesitate to claim ABS is better than Masseduction or Daddy's Home by a relatively small margin here.
@@guywholikesthesnarkies1435 Nah MASSEDUCTION and Daddy’s Home are better but I agree it should be an 8
@@georgeandfriendsadventures5073 I respect your opinion, but sometimes the density of your materials doesn't always dictate the quality of your record as a whole. At least imo, she's taken the right decision to strip her music down and refrain slightly from pursuing even more complicated album ideas.
Instead, she poignantly offset that restriction by taking the bold approach of putting together her material into a distinctive sounding album with emphasis on deliberate sonic contrast that's still able to materialize organically, w/out having to sacrifice its thematic coherence.
You're tripping Anthony, this album is amazing
One of the best this year imo
AOTY so far. This is even more foolish than giving her self titled a 7/10. Big L
Too late, already formed my opinion. It’s an 8
Melon really made us wait over a week for a review that I thought was gonna be a 9/10 to hit us with the light 6
You're right, he usually saves the best for last but this was like a bad twist to a movie.
We live in the dark timeline guys
Nah this album slaps so hard. Hard disagree on this. The weeds make it good
Yeah the weeds are what make it genuine and vulnerable. Such a masterpiece and perhaps the most real we've ever seen from Annie.
not me thinking you were talking about actual w3ed lmaoo
How did he not like Violent Times?!!? Whatever. It’s too late. This album is already an 8 in my book.
Lmao was totally expecting a 9
What are you doing out? I thought we sentenced you to 6 years in the drain dungeon from last review
You’re joking…this deserves at least a worst score of 8
This album deserves at least an 8. One of my favorite so far in 2024.
i totally wasn’t expecting a 10. awkward
Okay so like, when Daddy’s Home came out and everyone responded to it with a collective “WTF…?” I was one of those people who was absolutely confused because to me, that album was a masterwork.
And now, with All Born Screaming? I’m absolutely dumbfounded. This album is absolutely *incredible* in every way, from the production, arrangements, melodies, lyrics, engineering, playing… it’s such a fun and wild ride through all these different yet cohesive styles that all kind of work and blend well together in this messy and chaotic yet clean and polished piece of art that has my jaw on the floor.
Watching the lil’ short films she made describing the making of the album really helped to illuminate this album for me… that story about the idea for the “scratching” sound in “Flea,” which was courtesy of her “friend”… aka TORI AMOS… is just priceless. 😊
Oh and I also thought the song about SOPHIE, and “that” line in particular was touching, poetic, bittersweet and beautiful. Idk why so many people just jump straight to the most disingenuous, worst way to interpret that lyric.
One of my top albums of the year for sure.
April fool's was last month Anthony!
The skeletons on your jacket are a metaphor for how you'll be dead within a week after this review.
😈
lmao exactly
🔥💯
7 DAYS
If it was called Butterflies born pimped you would have given it a 10.
And with a title like that, rightly so!
this album is incredible, im so obsessed
Easy 8. L review
This is an 8 at least, Anthony.
this album is a 8 ..
I can agree that it’s a bit unfocused, plus it just felt a little tame upon first listen for me. But it has grown on me quite a bit since
6 ???
We’re sending melon back to the farmers market after this review. Easy 9
At this point 6 is your favorite number
Solo on So Many Planets is sick. Fantano just hates Reggae
I’m a big St. Vincent fan and lemme tell you this is a grower. I didn’t love it at first but it’s clicking hard on like 5th and 6th listens lol
Surprised he liked Daddy’s Home better than this. I don’t think she’s made a bad album tbh
I didn’t even like it on first listen. Now I’d give it an 8. Melon probably listened thrice.
technically, we are all born crying. If Ms. Annie hadn't made this mistake, Anthony would've given her a 10.
Hey Anthony, hated this video. Terrible job. Delete this ❤❤
He did MASSEDUCTION dirty too
@@georgeandfriendsadventures5073 I didn’t like masseduction either tbh.
If she called it Bald Bore Screaming you would’ve given it a 10
You gotta be sipping ketamine to think Flea sounds Tool-ish in any way shape or form.
I LOVED that album. One of my favs from Annie.
This album is so full and well thought out I really don’t get this review. It’s one of her best albums yet
I was really disappointed that the rest of the album didnt go as hard as the singles did. Broken Man is still a contenter for single of the year, tho.
Right? Feels like I had false expectations going into the album, also didn't catch me as much as Daddie's Home
I felt the same like something was off. The singles and The Power's Out are great but the rest of the songs didn't resound with me and I was really looking for this album
The trend of Antknee putting one of the best songs in least fav track continues 😮💨 Sweetest Fruit is such a bop
nah i love love love st vincent but that song is very easily the weakest
Completely agree, Sweetest Fruit is great
I like all 3 of the final songs a lot and he liked those ones the least. 💀
And he didn't even put big time nothing and violent times in the favs
When those two along with sweetest fruit are such bangers
I genuinely don't understand which album he listened to lol
6?????????
This is wrong
This one is much better than Daddy's Home. Her best work since the self-titled.
is he ok? In the Album Cover he is burning, hope he's ok
If this was called Kids Born Ghosting, you would've given it a 10.
Completely disagree on Sweetest Fruit and So Many Planets, those are 2 of the strongest songs on the record. Anthony’s tripping here, this album is sick, 10/10
Ain’t no way you rated my fav album of 2024 so far JUST A 6
My favorite St. Vincent album
Same!
You better give a 10 to that new Kamasi Washington album fantano or at least a strong 9
Istg i listened to it yesterday and i was blown away by how amazing fearless movement was, might actually be one of the strongest contenders for a new 10 from fantano tbh
"Fuck you! I'm giving that shit a 6 too!" Is what Fantano must have thought after reading this comment.
@@glovishly why did you do this to me
that's interesting to hear "stinkfist" references with regards to the "broken man". to me it sounds more NIN-esque rather than tool
St. Vincent is the David Bowie of our generation
She’s going down hill the last few albums
@@joshtuk really? I thought masseduction was really really good and while daddy’s home had some problems I thought this one was her best since her self titled
@@joshtukso did Bowie at points lol (he definitely had his ups and downs).
However, the real problem with this comparison is that she's way too early in her career to be called the Bowie of our time. For reference at this point Bowie would've been in the mid 80s with 3 full decades still ahead of him
@@joshtuk In my opinion MASSEDUCTION and Daddy’s Home are both 10’s
If she’s the David Bowie of our generation then I need her back in her Thin White Duke era
You didn't like Sweetest Fruit???? That's a great track Anthony wtf
Real
Maybe she should've left off those disgusting lyrics about SOPHIE
@@connorferguson3080 can understand, can't agree
@@connorferguson3080 I can definitely see how you could view it in bad taste but I truly believe Annie meant no harm, and I didn’t see anything wrong with the lyrics personally
@equinox6690 To me it felt like a glorification of SOPHIE's death rather than a way to honor her music and legacy. And her use of "my Sophie" when she had never met her is so weird and parasocial to me
if this were named Hood Hottest Screaming you'd give it an 8
I didn’t really start listening to St Vincent until this year. I listened to all of her albums before this one came out. I was pretty excited for it once I heard the singles. I was expecting all the songs to go just as hard. I was rather surprised that it was not the case. I still enjoyed the album but I would probably rank it in the bottom half of her catalog.
Even though I don't usually agree with Anthony's reviews of St Vincent's albums, I always appreciate the thought he puts into these reviews and the way he breaks down his insights/perspective. St Vincent is my favourite musician, and I love this album. I'm glad to see so many people in the comments feel the same.
If you give it anything lower than- GODDAMN IT.
Omg this is so wrong in so many levels it's not a 10 but it's amazing at least 8
your biggest L to date.
Why do you watch videos of other people's opinions if all you want if to validate your own opinion? You can just agree with yourself
YEZZUS IS A 9
Can be a L. It’s his opinion.
if this was called Meet The Bornscreamings you would’ve been shocked on stream
Damn Needle drop be working hella hard woth all the disses coming out and still puttong out album reviews! We love it!
Wtf??? I was expecting at least 8/10 and I’m almost always right about your scores
Just one question:
Where did you get that sweater?
Where can I buy it??
i hate when he has the wrong opinion
I thoroughly enjoyed this album from beginning to end. I like its mood. Some great collaborations, too. I'd like to see St. Vincent work with NIN. Your insight is always appreciated 🍻
I never forget when he said the guitars on her self titled sounded like farts
This album is a solid 8.
Whilst being aware this isn't a fashion channel I love your cardigan and want to get one. Where did you buy it?
A 6⁉ you know what, maybe my opinions aren't so bad
He's roasting those who comment based off the title right out the gate. Sorry to be obvious, but the message needs to be heard.
Nice Drake cardigan, Fantano
I really have been loving your Thumbnail game as of late, Anthony! I guess you can say......you're on fire!
Anthony where are you getting these cardigans from dog
This is an 8 minimum, Melon.
Oh yeah the most well-deserving 10 from this year, u nailed it
My score to this review: NOT FUCKING GOOD
With albums like Marry Me, Actor, Strange Mercy, and the self-titled St Vincent, Annie Clark reached new heights in pop/rock guitar music. She established herself as a unique figure in the music world. And she keeps up her mystic with this outing. Love St. Vincent!
Man, giving this album a 6 while giving Chelsea MGMT and Vampire Weekend yellow flannel is a war crime
But then we've always known Melon prefers the generic shit
As someone who likes all those three artists you're right lol. I like the VW albums but the Chelsea Wolfe Strong 9/10 puzzles me to no end
“Prefers the generic shit”. Anthony’s top 50 albums every year is literally full of avant- garde music and unlistenable music to most normal people lol
I am kinda surprised by the 6/10 it’s probably not in my top 3 St Vincent albums but I personally don’t feel like anything she’s made is below 8/10 so I guess I’m biased.
Alright it’s time. Finally something this year that we 1000% disagree with
No this is right. It has a few tracks with a kind of focus but nothing feels as consequential as ANYTHING from her self titled, from strange mercy, from actor, even the highlights on masseduction
I didn't like the Sophie lyric...
why do you always give the best albums either a 5 or a 6....
I would’ve given this album an 8, but now I need to change my opinion 😔
I was expecting something different based on the singles, but I'm still very happy with this album. A 6 feels wild, but I'm doing my best to understand that this review isn't a personal attack
I was expecting a 6 or maybe 7 from Anthony. I wish the whole album was more like "Broken Man".
was waiting for this review, bummed that you don’t like it. it’s amazing, you’re wrong. i’ll keep on loving it happily. can’t wait to see her live on this round.
6??? thats crazy, easy 8 for me
You still didn’t review my 21st century blues when it came out like a year ago it’s such good pop album with great narratives and themes, like there’s no way you didn’t hear about it when escapism was so big. Pls pls pls pls share your thoughts it would make my day
If it was called "Father of All Born Screaming" you would have given it a 0.
I personally love the slower and suspense building tracks, especially in the first half of the record. Opener has some real cinematic Blade Runner-esque atmosphere to it, but I agree that if there was more musical focus, for example following this and broken man, it would have maybe been more palatable. Although that you’re prob never gonna get on a st Vincent album - 8/10 REVIEW IT AGAIN
i felt the same way i was so disappointed
I really liked the album, especially after a few listens. The only song I don't really care for is the title track.
I like it as a conclusion to the album, but definitely not putting it in any playlists lol
@@SuperSpaghettiking I agree. It's not a bad song, but the others have so much heart in them, whereas that one to me seems driven by concept.
To each their own, but sweetest fruit was one of my favorite ST Vincent songs of the last 10 years-- appreciate the analysis, though.
I felt that this album had some great bangers and I really enjoyed it. Were there some weaker songs? Sure. But overall I loved it.
yeah I honestly agree, a lot of the directions shes pointing to are interesting, but it kinda falls flat in the end. I was excited about this album but ultimately disappointed. And the Sophie thing is a yikes for sure.... extremely disappointed in that especially
Heartbroken. This review was born whimpering
