I've notice that a lot of the Elite Athletes are severely injuried, thus underperforming for a season or two. Unfortunately, injury management requests experience, a lot of money and the right team for recovery. Idk what contributed to SFP departure but I wish her & Coach Walcott all the best.
I think it may have to do something with injury management. Injuries do occur anywhere but how it is managed makes the difference. I am sure that Shelly is not going to leave unless she has already decided where she is going. Wishing her as well as Coach Walcott all the best.
I agree with the comments here regarding injury management. I also saw that Coach Walcott is underperforming in this important area. MVP needs to do better also. Athletes need professional Nutritionists to guide their meals and ALL Athletic Camps need to pay attention to this crucial area of what the athletes eat. Too much 'Fast Food" is not good. Elaine's former Coach Osbourne was spot on when she spoke about injury management and how challenging it would be to ensure Elaine got the best attention in that area. I thought she was doing well.
Coaches can suggest not eating fast food but the athletes have to monitor themselves. This is not college where they get there meals and medical programed for them. Also....Injuries happens every where. Sydney Mclaughlin was injured for most of 2023. Shericka and Shelly were relatively healthy until last year. No coach can "prevent" injuries 100%.
I think Walcott is a good young coach but might have bitten off more than he can chew. Not everyone can manage a large group like MVP. Franno himself once said...."people think its easy but not everyone can run a successful Club". Persons wanted to give Walcott all the credit for Shelly's getting to 10.60s and even suggested he is just as good or better than Franno. I"ve always thought Shelly's 10.6s came more from her wanting to prove a point when she left MVP. Let me interject this as well.....since no one wants to go there. I cant imagine that Walcott decision to split his time with Elaine helped him with the attention Shelly needs. He cant be everywhere all at once so that was never going to work.

There are a lot of high school and assistance, Professional coaches might be waiting in line to go off and open their own track club or get investors to open a club..

I really think most of those coaches in Jamaica are over thinking the real process and procedures when comes to track and field.. you simply get what you put in just like anything in life and our athletes are simply not putting in the qualify work to get the results that they are capable of getting , our athletes needs to start running more over distances in training and run more frequently
