GREAT show. To answer your question CAN CLark have the same impact in WNBA - the plain answer is - IF they LET her. There's a reason fans haven't watched WNBA. Either change the culture and raise the bar or don't.
The WNBA better watch out for her but if I was in that position I would have stayed in school went to school and went to graduate school and came back and finished what I started and solidified my legacy and became the most successful college basketball player in the world
I just realized something. No one watches the WNBA. They need a rivalry between two greats. Larry Bird and Magic Johnson saved the NBA back in the day when no one was watching it. People wanted to see these two greats go at it. Caitlyn Clark needs another great player to make a rivalry that will inspire people to watch the WNBA
David Stern single-handedly saved the NBA. You only give away your age and lack of knowledge when you credit Magic and Bird with saving the NBA. The NBA always had the talent, even greater than Magic and Bird and Michael Jordan. The NBA lacked the marketing that Stern brought with him to the league. Like Nike, it ain't the shoe, it's the marketing of the shoe. Like McDonald's, it ain't the burger, it's the marketing of the burger. Those brands wouldn't have spent billions of dollars on advertisements if the product had sold itself.
Pistol Pete accomplished his feat in 3yrs. He could not play as a freshman on the varsity team. More power to Caitlin Clark for her great college career accomplishments.
@LazyStory Because Acho apparently doesn't like to Google. He was pointing out that Caitlin and Pistol both played four seasons. As usual, Acho provides a wealth of misinformation about easily researched information when he doesn't crib note his way through a contrarion argument based on cherry picked analytics. Maravich averaged 44.2 ppg in 83 games over three years. He did not have three pointers while hitting BOMBS from the town over. Clark has played 129 games over four seasons. She's a total badass. It's more, for me, how lazy misrepresentations by people paid a load to pretend argue make it to broadcast. It's really inconsequential mostly. It's sports "conversation." In this case, it's not important. But some of these talking heads owe a little more to their workplace and their audience. It happens WAY too much. Subjectivity is opinion. But to regularly misstate objective facts is stupid.
Pete Maravich was not permitted to play varsity as a freshman, per the NCAA rules then. Caitlin Clark has played 129 games. Maravich, who regularly hit LONG bombs without three-pointers, averaged 44.2 ppg over 83 games. She's a badass, though. Without doubt.
Pistol Pete averaged 44 shots per game to set his record while Caitlin Clark only shot the ball 21.4 times per game. 83 games times 44 shots per game is 3,652 shots vs 129 games times 21.4 is only 2,761 shots. I’m kinda liking Caitlin Clark’s apples. It kinda looks like she gave more to her teammates to me.

@maxb9435 That has not a thing to do with my point, which is whether it's a small point or an important one, Acho can't take a minute to know what he's saying is correct. But, shoot, okay then...Pete Maravich caused a bidding war between the NBA and ABA. He was also offered a Million dollars to play with the Harlem Globetrotters, an insane amount of money at that time to become the first white member. All without the internet.

Right. They both can be great. Caitlin officially owns the scoring record for all of collegiate basketball, based on the rules and regulations in today’s game. Pete’s great in his day and age, but it’s unfair to Caitlin to compare him to her. I mean, even given the fact that Pete had almost 600 more FG attempts than Caitlin at the time of the record being broken, the times were still different, and the comparison shouldn’t be made. Let Pete hold the men’s scoring record, and let Caitlin own the overall collegiate scoring record.

I’m no college sports fan pretty much of any kind - I am not - and I will be a new WNBA. Fan because of her. Already plan on buying a ticket for the Atlanta game with the Fever when they go on sale!!
College ball fanbase consists of people from all corners of the country, and beyond, rooting for their ALMA MATER... and just think of how many people went to a particular college over decades (plus their kids might go there)... PLUS the people who merely reside in the same state, etc... That's a whole different animal than the fanbase for a pro team. Apples and oranges. As is mens sports vs. womens are apples and oranges.
@@JiroProject Well you can't stay there- but people reclassifly all the time to ensure legacy and get extra time by properly working the high school system. In this case staying means extra money and build her legacy even more at IOWA. As much as people hated what Sheryl Swoopes said...I bet my left pinky toe on it C. Clark will never have the WNBA legacy the houston comets have.
Here's an anecdote that I think says a lot. A week or so ago I was at the Supermarket getting "stuff" and I saw a mom pushing her cart with her two kids. She had one boy and one girl and both were wearing BKB shorts like they all seem to do. Both the boy and the girl were wearing #22 jerseys. I think that says it.
She is a generational player. That doesn’t change the fact that the WNBA only exists because it’s subsidized and it’s just not a good brand of basketball.
Wonder where the NBA was at it year 28 from inception🤔🤔 thats right it was on tape delay. People didn't even want to watch it when they literally had nothing else to do in the dead of winter. Guess it wasn't a "good" brand of basketball either to begin with
So you're just going with partial context, why not complete context if you really want to be fair about the comparison? Pete's dad the coach allowed for his 38.1 shots/game (vs Clark's 19.9), which is almost 600 more shots in 3 yrs than she's taken in 4, with him at a much lower efficiency with both FG% and FT%. So ok you want to remind everyone that Clark took 4 yrs to pass Pete's 3 yr total in points, no problem; just like we can say that Clark needed almost 600 less shots to do it. Ah but no 3s for Pete you say? No problem, let's account for that too because it should be all about fairness, and use Dale Brown's infamous analysis of Pete's LSU shot chart: he calculated that with the old 19' 9" line (current at the time he calculated it), Pete would've averaged 57.0 ppg, per Bill Walton's 2007 interview. It would be less than 57 if we used the modern 22' 1.75" line, not sure by how much but it's a significant difference so that analysis needs to be redone. And since we're being fair, we also gonna have Clark's dad coach her and adjust Clark's shot attempts up to Pete's using a 1.915 multiplier, and keeping all shot percentages the same, that also means adjusting her total points of 3650 by that amount, which would result in 6990 pts in 129 games, or 54.2 ppg. Or if we want even more accuracy of comparison: take away Clark's freshman year and you get 2851 pts in 99 games, or after adjustment it's 5460 pts in 99 games, which is 55.2 ppg. And just like that, Clark's 3-yr ppg is at least in the same league as Pete's after giving him a closer 3-pt line and both of them the same amount of shots - the closest we can get to making a level playing field between them. If we really wanted full context and fairness, we'd have to note that Pete played most of his college career when the SEC, who was behind the times compared to almost all other conferences, hadn't integrated yet (some SEC schools began to during his senior yr). Obviously there's no way to adjust for that statistically but logically his stats would take a hit if he had played better competition his entire career. So the overall point here is that everyone should want to be as fair as possible when comparing stats, to not just not be "prisoners of the moment" as you say and I agree with, but to also not just use partial context only, either.
Here’s a little context: Pistol Pete averaged 44 shots per game to set his record while Caitlin Clark only shot the ball 21.4 times per game. 83 games times 44 shots per game is 3,652 shots vs 129 games times 21.4 is only 2,761 shots. I’m kinda liking Caitlin Clark’s apples. It kinda looks like she gave more to her teammates to me.
@@tobinsoyck6744 I agree with the sentiment, as I illustrated in my post above, but just a correction though; if you're calculating based on all of the games they've played their entire college careers, you should use their career shots/game averages, which are 38.1 for Pete and 19.9 for Clark.
That’s pretty much across the board. If it was objectivity and stats that you were looking for, well that’s been long gone since the late 90s/early 2000s
Is this the first time n college bball history that a girl is considered the goat even over men’s bball? This will be the most famous she ever is. There have been better players than her that come in and dominate immediately and sadly women still don't watch the sport. Not taking anything away from her but she's such a high scorer because she's the only scorer on her team. Maya Moore had a loaded team, all those uconn girls had loaded teams which lessened their scoring. Caitlin went for individual success over team success
You don’t watch do you? If you watch her and don’t see something different your eyes are broke. The way she pushes/passes ball up court in transition with such accuracy is different on its own. Pulling up from deep, her release time on shot is same as Steph’s. I don’t know what will happen moving forward but I haven’t seen this before in women’s college basketball

His Duke teams each had at least 3-4 other McDonald's All-Americans, whereas Clark has never even had 1 5-star teammate, only 1 4-star starting teammate every year, and only 1 starting teammate ever ranked in the top 100 in their recruiting class (Stuelke this year, was #45). - The "very best" last year was SC and Clark was the main reason Iowa beat them and got to the title game. But then LSU was simply better and congrats to them, though Clark still dropped 30, the most by either team by far, even being in foul trouble most of the game, but she just didn't get enough help especially with 2 teammates fouling out. She's better than Kareem...Shady stop it...she's the best Women's NCAA basketball player ever..
Yeaaaaaa- Look she is the biggest star in college basketball men's or women's. That being said- we won't care again once she leaves for the WNBA. She just won't be able to do the same things or make us care the same. Good luck Miss Clark.
Why they covering up joy on the close ups 😂
Why wouldn't she? She's a senior...
Because covid shut down college sports in 2020 athletes are given the option to play another year... Caitlin is not going to take an extra year.
Caitlin would get humbled by Maya Moore
Caitlin Clark will raise all boats when it comes to the WNBA salaries.
Love Catlin, but Pistol Pete played three years. Freshmen did not play on college varsity teams back when Pete played.
Y’all wilding saying she’s the BEST in ALL of college 😂
How?
why, because she's white???
Y'ALL WILDING, LET ME GUESS YOUR WHITE.
I guess Kareem don’t exist in college basketball
@@2001redz28because she is not the best ever.. you want us to worship her, because she is white..
I’m no college sports fan pretty much of any kind - I am not - and I will be a new WNBA. Fan because of her. Already plan on buying a ticket for the Atlanta game with the Fever when they go on sale!!
I always like to tune in to the Fantastic Razial 4!😂😂😂 Pure hate from joy and the others with a combined I.Q. of 27🤣
you watching is making them money 😂 i guarantee they don’t gaf about what you have to say lol
high school boy can beat her. I know Disney doesnt recognize gender but you guys dont believe shes the BEST b ball player in college
She has to win to beat Breanna
Juju’s coming!!!!
Sadly no one is really gonna care going forward.
Pistol did it in 3 and I believe no 3 point line
Why leave college when she makes more money there then wnba
Legacy.
You gonna stay in high school forever because you want to keep up with your straight As
She’ll get Nike contracts, adidas whatever worth millions
@@JiroProject Well you can't stay there- but people reclassifly all the time to ensure legacy and get extra time by properly working the high school system. In this case staying means extra money and build her legacy even more at IOWA. As much as people hated what Sheryl Swoopes said...I bet my left pinky toe on it C. Clark will never have the WNBA legacy the houston comets have.
Acho called her Angel?
Clark is the only female player where when they come out with a signature shoe for her I'll but it as a man and rock it.
Who?
CC is Larry Bird as a female.
Guess it wasn't a "good" brand of basketball either to begin with
She should stay, those female in the wnba will hate on her, because she good and straight.
to mention angel reese is crazy 😂
Got nothing Pistol Pete, unless we want context. Didn't have a 3pt line and only played 3 yrs but yes lets be prisoners of the moment
She great but pistol played before the 3 point line

This show is nothing but Hot takes and strong opinions.. its never anything factual
That’s pretty much across the board. If it was objectivity and stats that you were looking for, well that’s been long gone since the late 90s/early 2000s

Did this topic feel forced?
Well you either force it in or no one will ever talk women's hoops - especially not the WNBA. That was kind of the point of the topic.
Pistol Pete did in 3 years, not 4. Just for the record.
Can the Golden State Warriors draft her???
Is this the first time n college bball history that a girl is considered the goat even over men’s bball? I could be wrong maybe it’s social media maybe the racists can say cuz she’s white idk but I’m a black man who’s been watching sports my whole 36 years of life I never seen a girl be this good even on her bad games like Steph she’s fun to watch and she can score fast
Angel Reece not in the same stratosphere at all!

Joy with the heavies 🤤🥴
This is so ridiculous! Caitlin is not passing Pistol Pete’s record! There is no comparison in scoring stat from men’s and women’s college basketball!

83 games vs 129+ games, no 3-point vs. 3 point line, no shot clock vs. shot clock - it's just not even close with Clark vs. Pete.... both are phenoms and both should be lauded as such. I just don't think you should be declaring her as the same as Pete....

Pistol Pete did it in 83 games to Caitlin Clark 129 games. Pete avg 44 points per game.
Caitlin is from the home state but I hope she isn't the female version of Jimmie Fredette?? Plz let her game translate
Nope, it's not even that close:
- Fredette never quite reached Clark's current level of scoring ability
- The closest Fredette was to her level was only in his senior year, whereas Clark has done this for 4 yrs
- Fredette's passing was nowhere near Clark's. Most still don't know as you may or may not, that Clark has led the nation in assists for the past 3 yrs and was 3rd her freshman yr, and is going to end up passing Ionescu for 4th all-time - even though Ionescu was lauded all the time for her passing and triple doubles in college while Clark usually gets talked about for her long 3s.
@@darchon5good points. Her scoring makes some forget her assists and playmaking.. most def a bright spot for Iowa but esp for college sports..
@@darchon5😂😂😂 she's the JJ Riddik of Women Ball. She was decent with a great 3 but a mediocre role player when you put them up against the very best. Its not difference than when they tried to deny that Aja was and IS the WNBA MVP last year for some blonde hair blue eyes whyte girl
@@baller0724 "decent with a great 3 but a mediocre role player when you put them up against the very best" foh. If you're gonna troll, at least get your facts right:
- Redick got to 1 Final Four (loss), that's it, no natty, so Clark's already gone farther than him with much less talent.
But again, LSU was better, period.
@@darchon5 ok so they both lost and where not winners in college so the comparison is even MORE apt. Thanks for the correction. Clark is a great SIDE SHOW who can shoot a few 3s but NOT a winner. This is all manufactured like Sabrina being treated as the best player last year only for Aja Wilson to show y'all that y'all great whyte hype is just that ALL HYPE.
Who?

Here we go again. Forget the years, checks games played versus games played. Apples versus apples, oranges versus oranges. It is not hard.
