The theoretical Arya kills Cersei as Jamie sounds SO GOOD dude I can't fathom how cool that sounds jfc, but i like Arya killing him, I like the idea of turning the widespread hero story on it's head with the sister saving the hero last second. I believe if the fight was better less people would be dissapointed though.

Every time someone asks a Game of Thrones fan about the ending of the show it’s like PTSD.
I remember watching the ending and being like… this literally would not happen. The Unsullied and Dothraki would not be having allegiance and loyalty to Bran

Jesus, never thought I'd find this on UA-cam; 18 minutes of truth telling. Spot on. Love the idea of the Night King killing everyone at the end. It would've been very on brand, so many of the deaths were gut wrenching that just having and ending that says "Fuck You, none of the drama, fighting or squabbling amongst them matter, they all die, good night!" would be very poetic.

i agree john snow should have been fighting the night king

I had really expected the Night King to win at Winterfell, and for the final confrontation against him to happen at King's Landing, where they would destroy his army by luring it in and then blowing up the stocks of alchemical fire underneath the whole city, John sacrificing himself in the process. I had also always thought that Arya would abandon her revenge plot against Cersei, and that she would be the one to kill Littlefinger. Because her revenge was always against those who had destroyed her family, and Littlefinger was the ultimate architect of their downfall from the beginning.

It has been a while since I've watched the show, and i've never read the books. But did Arya or Sansa actually know the extend of Littlefingers schemes? Or did they only know some of the things he was the cause of? Again It's been awhile but from Arya's point of view it would have been the Lannisters that destroyed her family no?

@@wraldan I mean I figured they would learn of it eventually. And I don't know if you care about spoilers or not, but they do get their vengeance on him, however much they knew or didn't know

To add to your Jon Snow plot. Instead of the half n half. The Night King tries to raise Jon as a Walker but for some reason it doesn't work and the Night King doesn't know why. Then the Lord of Light raises Jon again as the Prince who was promised. Jon picks up his sword as it now becomes Lightbringer and overpowers the Night King.

Why does this still feel so cathartic to hear five years later? I really should be over game of thrones by now.
Also the big battle should have been at the eyrie, the good guys surrounded by a sea of zombies on the ground. Have a sickass dragon battle up there with the night king, while the side characters fight whichever zombies make their way up. Eventually someone gets to the night king, maybe john sacrifices himself with his sword or whatever, and you see all the zombies wither away at the ground level while the nk's dragon falls to the ground.

No joke I thought the ending of the story would be - Dany dies prior to the long night while trying to take kings landing (which is sort of what happens) and she was in fact azhor ahai and so the only one that could stop the long night, so she dies with her dragons and at that point the night king and co take down the wall and no one can stop them - cut to 10 years later, 90% of the characters are dead (everyone is fair game except Jon Snow and maybe Bran) and it's been night for 10 years and I thought the final book (a dream of spring) would basically be watching whoever was left roll back the others and it ends with the sun finally coming up on a new generation.

I didn't like the fact that after everything that Jon did, he got another life sentence at the wall. I wish Sansa and Arya had shown up demanding Jon's release and threatened war with the Unsullied. And they had Jon in front of them and he was the one who said I want to go North of the wall with Ghost. If it was his decision, it wouldn't feel so shitty. I wish they had fought for him.
He lived a dogshit life from beginning to end. Spent most of his entire life thinking that he was a bastard, the one blight on his otherwise honorable father's legacy, with a mother figure who despised him. Where he was treated like a second class citizen. So much so that he voluntarily took on a life sentence in the Night's Watch because that's all he thought he was worth.
Found love, had to abandon that love in the line of duty and watched his love die in his arms. In performing that same duty, got murdered by his own men while trying to protect an entire race of people who also didnt like him.
Was resurrected, fought in a helpless battle to liberate his childhood home from the turd who repeatedly raped his sister. Fought an even more helpless battle against death itself. Found love, found out the truth about his own heritage and that his entire life had been a lie. His own "father" had lied to him his whole life and that all the hate he had gotten from Catlyn was for nothing. Realized he never knew his father nor his mother and in doing so also lost the woman he loved again. Had to kill her to save everyone else and then after all that, he gets ANOTHER LIFE SENTENCE AT THE WALL AND FROZEN HELL? Fuck that noise. They did Jon dirty.
And Will is exactly right about Dany. They needed to sow those seeds of her madness way before they actually started to. It felt all so sudden that she was the bad guy. Instead of gradually getting the audience to dislike her, they just made her snap and it was way too jarring to be believable.
    P.S. Sorry for the essay

The only thing I would change from Will's ending for Jaime and Cersei was Arya should have whispered the North Remembers and then stabbed her in the gut as they were embracing. And then she should have pulled off her mask to show Cersei who killed her

Love the Arya ending with Cersai, take it a little further. She takes the head back to Jamie, throws it at his feet. Shes trying to bait him into returning to the Jamie he was when he made her list. He doesnt rise to it and in that moment not only saves himself, but saves Arya by reteaching her empathy. Arya realises the Jamie on her list did die and people can repent. Aryas story ends. Jamie's story ends.

Alternate ending: Bran still becomes king, but not because he "has a better story" or whatever dumb bullshit. No, he becomes king because he's been twisted by his time north of the wall, his abilities make him feel powerful and above everything. But now that he's tasted true power, he turns his eyes to a different kind of power.
He subtly manipulates every other main character until they all unanimously cheer for Bran the Broken! Hooray! Except they don't know--Bran is not broken. He's the only one playing with a full deck.
We would be left on this uneasy feeling of "out of the frying pan, and into the fire."

subverting expectations is good and all and the long build-ups and many deaths are fine but in the end we need the pay-off and the good guys to catch a W, otherwise all those that i mentioned were for nothing. i agree with will here, the hound-mountain duel should have been a proper 1v1, arya should have killed cercei and jon obviously should have killed the night king, maybe not in the extra and goofy ways he mentioned though LMAO. also fuck bran, he should have had some role to play but not become the king, that was dany's story and little finger should indeed have been the final bad guy. varys and tyrion goin 5iq was also buffling, dnd fucked everything up and for what? for a star wars project that i think they didn't even end up getting SMH

i wish GoT went in on the idea the children of the forest were still working with the white walkers and bran is being recruited for a purpose that bloodraven himself believes in, as he has ruled over humanity, partook and witnessed cruelty, violence and chaos, and would be a perfect candidate to be the anti human prophet and greenseer the children needed until bran could replace him. in the books i really hope they take that root esp considering the jojenpaste chapter and how clearly disturbing bloodraven and his philosophy is
bran is 100% paul atriedes and his prescience will not be used for justice, only revenge and conquest but for the children and their alliance with the dark forces at the heart of the land of always winter
