yeah a lot of ppl still don't understand what trypophobia is or how severe of a response it evokes. if simple polka dots were enough to trigger trypophobia, we wouldn't be able to go anywhere lol
At least it protects iPhone models that can shatter its back. The 5c case is pointless since plastic doesn’t shatter, making the 5c one of the most durable iPhones
@@Blank00 5C owner here - the case still had important utility - the plastic could still form rough gouges you could feel with the hand. For one; the case (and by extension most silicone cases) prevented drops to begin with, and prevented gouges to the plastic when dropped. Also Apple’s black silicone case showing the yellow of my 5C is still an aesthetic I appreciated far more than my later space gray SE1 in Apple black leather case and even a fair bit more than my current yellow XR bare.
Lether sleeve its even worse The original idea was to protect the full iPhone 12, but with 2 holes (time and microphone) totally useless bc iphone 12 doesnt have always on display When getting a call you can only see who’s calling, you must take part the phone out the case to answer the call, ah but if you place the phone again the call will cut off. 130DOLLARS
Amazing to me that the all iPhones older than the 6 have just been IMEI blocked in Australia on the 28th of Oct. I remember when they came out like it was yesterday. You can sometimes tell a 5C that had been used in the offical case. The exposed parts of the phone would fade so that when the case was removed you can see circles.
Is this due to the VoLTE capability missing? As can’t see any reason otherwise. That said I’m in the UK and we still have 2&3G network as of right now.
Oddly enough this case doesn't trigger my trypophobia. If the pattern wasn't uniform and the case was thicker than it is then maybe. Uneven holes, lotus pods, bugs/frogs with eggs on its back are different stories.
I really miss that Apple and 2013 in general. Social media was starting to be a thing on phones but it was not even close to what it is today, Apple released iOS 7, iPhones were still exciting... good times
The 5C is a blatant display of Apple's arrogance. Premium money for a half-baked phone and a half-empty case. They learned their lesson in the iPhone XR but slowly backpedalled during 11 and SE 2&3.
This is my favorite case, when I had the iPhone XR I wanted a case like this so badly. It looked so good when both the case and phone were the same color
I had this iPhone as a temporary replacement after my 5s broke in July 2016, it lasted till January 2018 when I made a poor attempt at repairing it which caused the whole phone to stop working entirely. I can’t remember what went wrong exactly. When I got my 5c in August 2016, I remember updating it to iOS 9 from iOS 7 which I still regret to this day as I didn’t realise how an iOS 7 5c would be rare or anything like that.
5C is under appreciated. And it doesn’t need a case since it’s plastic and not glass. It also has a bigger battery than the regular 5. Being the only plastic iPhone makes it unique and there used to be a time where Apple plastic felt very premium back in the iPod and MacBook non pro days. I’d actually like to see them move away from glass backs. I always have to put a case over it anyway to protect it from shattering.
If they had the dots start at the top it would blend in nicely with the hole for the camera, and then it could stop short of the bottom and the iPhone label on the iPhone could be covered by the solid case with the Apple logo 🤦🏼♀️
Also I have trypophobia but this case doesn’t freak me out but the holes are gross like I don’t like the idea overall, but there’s still a better way this monstrosity could have been made 😂
While I went with the 5S that generation, I dug the aesthetic of these cases and the color combining idea. They had a sort of eighties Memphis Group-influenced vibe that I enjoyed.
the 5c was my first ever iphone. I remember buying it w my own money back when I was 14 and to me was my pride and joy. still miss my old buddy to this day
As time goes on, I’m really starting to dig these bold tech vibes, the colors, shapes, materials, all of it. Somehow, the iPhone 5C and its case totally grew on me, so I had to snag one for myself.
The 5c was my first iPhone and has a special place in my heart. The feel of the smooth plastic was such a good sensory experience and they were so much fun
God, I too had an otterbox for my 4S and I’m so glad the trend has gone towards minimalist cases now lol although my friend also had an otterbox on his too and it survived a car running it over at 35 mph, so the protection was well worth the price tag 😂
I think with a bit of redesigning, this type of case will match perfectly with the regular iPhone 16 and 16 Plus given how iPhones nowadays no longer have the iPhone name and the serial info printed near the bottom of the back of the phone. It will actually look finished and well thought out as opposed to the 5C where the holes showed those info but it’s cut, so it just looks unfinished.
I remember the 5C being all the rage when I was in 5th/6th grade, man how time flies. Oddly enough I don’t think anyone I knew had that case though, which is odd to me.
I had this case in white for my yellow iPhone 5c and not a week goes by where I don’t wonder what on earth I was thinking with that colour combo choice, I was possessed when making that purchase.
Kinda wish you told us what apple’s sales expectations were for this, you mentioned it twice in the video. You also said it didn’t sell too badly, how much did it sell exactly? Great video otherwise, just missing some key/interesting facts
I actually used to own the non-smartphone “predecessor” of the LG Wing way back in the day. Instead of having another touchscreen on the bottom when swiveled open, it was just the number buttons and all the arrow keys, OK button, etc… I really liked it TBH
My brother had the green iPhone 5c. It fell out of a hole in his pocket. The screen cracked and weirdly turned the battery into a spicy pillow. Fun times.
The battery case that was just a hump on the back was legit the most stupid looking case I've ever laid eyes on. I still don't know how apple was fine with that design.
As an iPhone 13 Mini user with an Apple Leather Case, I feel obligated to share my disappointment with both being a thing of the past. The combo of the small mini with that wonderful soft leather is something I doubt I will be able to match again. Just so dang nice in the hand.
I also had the blue 5C but I had the yellow case like this. It was actually quite funky and felt nice in the hand. Often I carried it naked as well, but it developed loads of micro scratches over time.
When the 5C came out, on my next trip to the Apple Store I would check it out even though I would buy a iPhone 5. When I first saw and held the display model, I saw a chip in the plastic in the corner on one and a crack in the corner on the other. Immediately I knew this was going to be a failure. Didn’t take long for it to happen. The C stood for “cheap” and I was scratching my head why Apple would even make a third rate phone like this to begin with when everything they sell is premium.
My first phone was the pink 5c. My parents bought me and my brother the 8gb versions and it lasted me a nearly 5 years before the battery gave out. I have a major soft spot for the phone because it introduced me to the world of smartphones and it was a sturdy and colorful little thing.
I never bought this for my former iPhone 5C. The protective cover should protect, but this cover has holes, so the back cover of the phone may get scratched at the holes. The iPhone 5c was Apple's most iconic phone. The only one with a plastic shell?
id honestly nominate their current silicone cases for their worst iphone case ever. the material is so cheap and grainy, parts of it started breaking off and even got into my speaker grill that i had to dust out. ive had better $1 cases from aliexpress
The nice thing about the 5c was that you weren't scared to drop it. I had the 4S which was the most beautiful iPhone ever, but if you dropped that you'd easily crack it. I had the 5 before the 5c but I didn't like the metal back at all. So my wife got my 5 and I got a 5c
I always think about this being post Steve, and his father telling him to paint the back of the fence, in comparison to the text poorly showing through the holes in the case. They didn’t paint the back of the fence.
My first iPhone was the 5c. I wanted the yellow one but got the blue and I’m honestly glad I did cause now all Apple products I get are blue. My current phone is a blue 13
Had a bumper case on my blue 5c. I remember my dad had just moved our entire family plan from tmobile to sprint and I was the only one that got a 5c. I loved it doe
Naw, I think the newest "finewoven" iPhone cases that literally would fall apart within minutes or hours of using it, was probably the "worst iPhone case Apple has ever made".
The 5c was my sister and I's first phone (I was probably 10 or 11 at the time, she's a year younger), and we both had this case. We both loved it because it showed the fun colors we had picked out through it which was all we really cared about Also the plastic was amazing for us because we definitely both dropped them quite often but neither of our phones ever broke
I loved mine!!! Got mine in March 2014, was my first iPhone. I had the green 5C but at first made the mistake of getting the blue case and it was way too Smurfie for me, so they let me return it and I got the black one. It made that green pop, very art deco BUT in Canada, I wish I had paid the extra $100 to get the 5S because my 5C started to slow down after around 1.5 years and I even had to change the battery and I think it was the last 32 Bit iPhone and the 5S was 64 and more future-proofed
1:36 Swift, drastic, and HORRIBLE. No, I DON'T care how many people Apple convinced that "let's fire the design team as well as Scott and claim that the resulting cancer of unintuitive flat cancer is "sleek and modern". Discoverability, intuitivity and detail were all thrown aside, and we STILL have yet to get it back. It's a BIT there again in macOS as of Big Sur but it's still a far cry from the intuitive skeuomorphic design that Steve and Scott rightfully made. That intuitive design is what made Apple "better than the rest". Now they're "just another ecosystem" of flat nonsense along with Google, Microsoft, and Samsung.
Loool, when I was a kid, I used to love this phone and this case specifically. It's still one of my fav looking modern mobile phones. Yet first I saw a video about how this iphone is the worst one, and now this video, saying that this case is the worst one. Haven't changed my mind tho
Missed opportunity to talk about that game (or series of games?) that actually work when using this case to cover the screen (only the dots part is used for gameplay)
I had the yellow phone and got the yellow case to match because I wanted to show off my yellow phone but still having a case on it lol. Tbh I never really noticed the words poking through but was mad it covered up the Apple logo
I’m trypophobic but I don’t trigger any fears on this case because the holes are arranged and not scattered
same
your comment makes me want to scatter them and send you an email with the photo
yeah a lot of ppl still don't understand what trypophobia is or how severe of a response it evokes. if simple polka dots were enough to trigger trypophobia, we wouldn't be able to go anywhere lol
same lol, it looks kinda cute tbh unlike lotus seeds💀

Does this mean I can't even use cellular on iPhone 5s?
Nooooo
All iPhones older than the iPhone 6 were already unusable here in the US because all the cellular network standards they used have already shut down.
Is this due to the VoLTE capability missing? As can’t see any reason otherwise. That said I’m in the UK and we still have 2&3G network as of right now.
@@JoBot__4G is shutdown in the US?
I loved the 5c. I liked the plastic. It gave the phone a retro look. Never understood the hate.
The iPhone 5c is the most colorful any Apple product will ever be again.
By far my favorite iPhone design from Apple. Would love for a refresh, maybe I'll finally switch to iPhone.
iPhone 4 is a close second.
I used to see iPhone 5C everywhere. So it did quite well. But it paved the way for the iPhone SE, which was much nicer.
Oddly enough this case doesn't trigger my trypophobia. If the pattern wasn't uniform and the case was thicker than it is then maybe. Uneven holes, lotus pods, bugs/frogs with eggs on its back are different stories.
Same here, k have it too and it doesn’t trigger it. It’s too even.

"The worst iPhone case ever"- Finewoven has entered the chat
"It's so bad, it's good" is probably the definition of this case

I kinda like it honestly lol, maybe not a first party case from apple but i would buy it
A good way to have an opaque case while showing off the colors of the 5C.
Totally agree. Although other kinds of patterns would have make it much better.

iphone 3G and 3GS were plastic as well. 5C is not the “only” plastic iphone

would be cool of the holes further from the center got gradually smaller and faded away

Really weird takeaway from this video: I'm older than Josh?!
I've always thought "91" was because of the year he was born but damn.
