25:28 Gavin. Been watch your vids for years. I go back every now and then and rewatch with a coffee in bed on a Saturday morning. The photo at 25 mins might be my favourite photo you’ve taken
I can't believe I didnt find your channel earlier. Best sense of humor and you are by far one of the best photographers I've been following on UA-cam. Great job, LOVE IT.
Hi Gavin and anyone watching this video (with regards to the Shimoda gear): I just need to clarify, I (Ian Millar mentioned in the video) would never say that our gear is waterproof. Water-resistant - yes. But please note there is a significant difference in the waterproof and water-resistant. Waterproof will not let water in at all. Water Resistant is reflective of water pressure and will let water in if the water out-pressures the coatings. To clarify no Shimoda products are 'waterproof'. As sell water resistance comes via coatings to the material - abrasion wears coatings down - so please make sure your gear is maintained for water resistance via DWR sprays and various coatings available on the market. - ian@shimodadesigns.com (also Cup Noodle - for my experience is the most satisfying meal in backcountry, also the originator of the instant noodle).
Saw one of your recent videos and was hooked. Must have watched all of them by now. You just have the perfect mix of photography, beautiful scenery and humor. Rarely an episode lately that does not result in a laughgasm.
Stunning location. Excellent photos. Since my MND/ALS diagnosis and not being able to do any photography I look forward to these vlogs more and more. Keep'em coming. Keep Safe My Friend.
The stress of being those few minutes late when you can see how awesome it's looking and about to kick off, is friggin horrible hey!? So good that you got such an epic sunrise!
That walk must have been what attracted you to Amanda. Incredible landscape. Unreal. I mean it doesn't look real. It always amazes me how some places just don't look natural. They look like they were arranged somehow. If you think backpacking meals are bad now, they were REALLY bad when they first came out. Some are even edible now.
From a British landscape photographer stuck in lockdown in a Paris I just wanted to say watching your videos is helping me survive Groundhog Day on lockdown.Great tips on composition and even your attempts at comedy are endearing.keep up the good work 📸
Even though you don't like camping or carrying heavy kit, thanks for being authentic and not replacing the sky with some fake AI software. Just watched a Canadian youtuber wax lyrical about the wonderful software that will replace sky, add the sun and even body slimming .... maybe that last one ..... nah, thanks for keeping it real Gavin !!
There are very few ‘tubers that I genuinely can’t wait for their next video to be published but you’re definitely one of them. The company, comedy, epic photos, and epic locations; love it.
Get yourself a tilt & shift lens and do away with all that panning. Simply rotate the lens on the mount & shift once to the left and once to the right without moving the body/tripod to get a pano. You can do the same in portrait mode by rotating the shift element right angles. Cracking images and locations as always Gavin. If there weren't so many castles, mountains and lochs in Scotland, I'd be over there tomorrow.
That was an epic shot for you and Brent. But, I can't stop laughing at the crapper scene!! How could you sit on there for that long! The food review was great, starvation is an option! Great video as usual with full of great information and great laughs! Thanks for sharing.
What a location. The footage later in with that backdrop looks so picture postcard your eyes can’t believe it’s real. Truly epic. I need help with compositions so for the three parts of the course, I’ve ‘put them in my basket’...
I’m really enjoying this longer format with lots of little extra tidbits of info. Also glad to see the flip flops making their way to your campsite as well. That shot was gold as well.
Stunning images and lovely light. The way you convey what your approach is, is clear, concise and pitched at exactly the right level to not patronise experienced photographers and really help those at the beginning of their photographic journey. That toilet scene.....that brings back so many memories, mainly of flies tickling my backside.
Your vlogs always put a big smile on my face, just brilliant! Wonderful images, lots of fun and so great to see the sunrise over those incredible mountains and water 🤩
I absolutely LOVE the following-your-process-in-the-field dance to this one! It makes your thinking process, and composition trial and error, and the resulting fabulous photos make so much sense to me. And it felt so good to laugh out loud! Thank you!
What a great trip. You got some awesome portfolio pieces there too. My favorite is day two sunrise, 2nd image. Love the cooler temps and comp. Nicely captured sir. You gotta keep doing those epic hikes and bring that dehydrated, "gourmet", cuisine. A few more 50km+ hikes where you burn 5,000 calories and intake 27 calories and those skits of you rolling around on the table will more visually appealing. I'm certainly not one to be calling the kettle black. Wish I was as motivate as you, the Mrs, and Brent.
Good morning from France and thank you for your video Gavin, each time we escape into magnificent landscapes that make you dream while having a touch of humor.
This was an epic video. Every pic was breathe taking and then you get the great comedy with it is just too much to ask for. You guys are the best! I also got to experience very similar conditions when I was at Grand Teton for sunrise pics. I had no clouds at all though.
Enjoyed the first day shot in the bright sunshine, thought it was pretty good thanks to the strength of the composition. But then the next morning came and it started well and just went epic. Worth the hike in and camping (sort of!) 👍
One of your best videos. Thanks for sharing your instruction on composition. I seem to get carried away with the overall scene and don't add enough engaging foreground. This was just great.
Superb photos! I really like the shot with the clouds...the reflections on the water were tresmendous. You and Amanda are awesome! I look forward to more adventures. Cheers from Texas.
What an epic location altho the skin tight Lycra is going to take a while to be erased from my memories :-) loved the Comp and then the clouds !! BOOM !!
Hello Gavin and Crew, this location is probably the best that I ever have seen. Your captures and explanation were incredible. The most beautiful that I have ever seen ...
Bahahaha!! If there's one group of youtubers that make me laugh every time, it's you and Amanda. Love Your channel. I am in no way a landscape photographer but I enjoy your videos to heck.
What a truly stonking reflection in that first composition...how amazing the mountain range looks in that light...just can't think why you'd leave Yorkshire for Canada Gavin. I mean what's wrong with Yorkshire and Lincolnshire...the mountain ranges are superb ;-).
If the camping was so awful, why not stay at the lodge up there? Would think it would be nice to climb into a comfy bed. :) LOVE that 'lattice' looking clouds shot. Absolutely beautiful.
@@fototripper Understood. You need to set up a GoFundMe page before you take your next Tonquin Valley trip to pay for the lodge. Need to keep the Fototripper happy and well rested. :D
@@fototripper Hey, I've been doing a little UA-cam searching for "do it yourself backpacking food" and there are lots of neat options out there. Might be worth a little UA-cam surfing before your next backpacking/camping adventure. That way you control what you eat, and the cost. I mean, it'll never be gourmet, but better than overpriced salt packets. :D
@@blivieriphoto Yeah I've been looking at dehydraters. Might purchase one in Spring but then I'd only release two vids a month due to all my time being spent making edible camp food. It's a quandry ;)
@@fototripper ahhh you're over complicating it. LOL Find a few good recipes. You don't need a huge variety. You'll be an old pro before you know it. :D
What a truly stunning location, thanks for sharing! It's funny how photographers quibble about the harsh light or no clouds, I just think it looks a great day to be alive!
@@fototripper Yep. For many of us photography is a means to an end, to get out and experience places like this. And on this occasion, I think you hit the jackpot! Again, thanks for giving us the chance to share the experience.
This was absolutely fantastic, you three on the bog cracked me up 🙂 Amazing photography with you three very humorous people! Though unfortunately I couldn't eat that awful food, so I would live purely on Chocolate lol 🤣 keep up the good work
Epic shots Gavin, you got rewarded for all that hiking but how ,as a Sony shooter, you are not expecting dust spots on your sensor amazes me...I understood it's a daily issue! Oh, and camping is great - just most of us don't try to sleep in a tent with the sun shining down on us!! If I did I'd be the same as you were. Seriously, glad you got such great conditions, love the skits but love the epic images you get even more - I've never been lucky so far with lake reflections and hats of to Brent's pano too. Gorgeous location.
So glad you got your clouds. Can't say that I've ever seen 3 sympatico campers on a shitter bickering over bog paper before ... it was worth the wait.

That primary shot on the lake is my favorite of all of yours.
I skipped all my other photography subscriptions on my timeline once I saw this was out. I really look forward to your vlogs. Beautiful images too.

Excellent video Gavin, I really enjoyed it. But I can't seem to get that vision out of my mind when all three of you was on that grapper. 😀
