One neat thing to keep an eye on is how Kim's hairstyle changes over time. How tightly wound her ponytail is, for example. The actress herself pointed it out as a detail not many notice.
A side note, just noticing you’ve called her “the receptionist” a few times - Francesca is Saul’s secretary from Breaking Bad. Another subtle tie-in between the two shows, who’s character development and background is neat to see from its origin.
If you already knew, apologies. Just wanted to connect that dot for awareness as the show progresses.

Interesting fact - "Better Call Saul" has three actors from a legendary movie that came out 40 years ago - "Scarface":

And the movie itself was referenced at least twice in Breaking Bad:

I knew the other ones but I didn't know Tuco's abuelita was the same.
Favourite character? Howard. The actor works so hard early on in getting you to hate him. And succeeds. But the nuanced acting slowly, slowly wins you over, to see he's really a good guy. it's like a concentrated mini reverse version of Breaking Bad all in one...
I just knew you were going to get the giggles over Gus' speech to his employees. The first time I saw it I thought "goddamn, he's good".

Normally prequels aren't as thrilling because of knowing what happens but BCS beautifully jumps that hurdle while also being excellent fan service

The Mike and Chuck scene almost felt like a cameo appearance by Mike. They are in such opposite parts of the show I never expected them to have a scene together
The actor who played Lyle also played Hood's long lost (faux) son from Oregon in the show "Banshee." The bastard got to be in a love scene with the luscious Lili Simmons.

Don eladio diving in the water is almost exactly like when he face planted after being poisoned in BB.

I am just so in awe of the Breaking Bad writers!!! How do they track so many details that eventually converge later in the series? Incredible!
Now that Gus is in the picture, the show has picked up a few gears. Also, that episode with the shoes hanging from the shoe laces is so cool, genius stuff.
Special note to Mike meeting Chuck (and vice versa). This is the kind of amazing stuff Better Call Saul offers. The writers did an amazing job pleasing Breaking Bad fans, MUCH more to come 😁
Best thing about the Mike scene with Chuck? You just know that he fixed that door to the best of his ability. Both because it would be suspicious if he didn't and because he has standards as a face door repair guy.
Bob’s delivery of “nobody should treat your own brother like that” really hit me the first time. Jimmy found a way to turn his apology into an insult to Chuck about how poorly Chuck has treated him
I honestly have a hard time choosing a favorite character in this show.
I hated Howard initially but by the end of the series he's one of my favorite characters.
Kim is phenomenal. She was nominated twice for an Emmy for her performance on the show.
Nacho is another huge favorite. How can you not love the dude? Michael Mando killed it. (Side note, he was mentioned by Saul in his debut episode of Breaking Bad.)
Mike and Gus are basically gods of both series.
I can't wait for the season 3 finale.
As much as I love the characters of BB, I think the ones in BCS are even better.

You know, I always thought that when Jimmy said to Chuck, "No one should treat his own brother like that," it was not actually an apology but rather how he felt towards Chuck and his actions. And as others have said, the next episode is fire!
When Gus and Mike first meet in-person on that road, they bring back the dark ominous music from Breaking Bad for the first time in the series

I love the direct callback at 2:03 bc what it does is introduce us to this character the same way he goes out, like, in a literal sense too (bc the shots are basically identical)

Seeing Gus and Hector interact before Hector was in the wheelchair is amazing to witness. Also seeing Mike and Chuck in a scene together is fantastic as well. When I first saw this, I didn’t expect the two would have a reason to have them share screen time, but I’m glad we saw them interact, regardless of how small the scene they were in was. Great reaction James, hope you’re doing well. Take care!

I am just glad we have gotten to the point you reference things in order. Like how Breaking Bad inspired GTA 5 and so much media afterwards. This inspired the time-lapse and lock off camera shots. They didn't invent it, but things like that, you know are from this crew working on Better Call Saul are from Breaking Bad.
Kim loves Jimmy, but more importantly she's intensely loyal.
Gus should have made Lyle the employee of the month for not almost killing Hector.

Just an FYI the actor playing Chuck has been famous since the 70’s. He played Lenny on an old popular sitcom Laverne and Shirley. He is a great actor. Michael Mckean. He was in This is Spinal Tap. Not sure if you reacted to that yet. By the way, you are one of my favorite channels.

When some of the Breaking Bad timelines intercede with Better Call Saul. That's why some say this TV show is even better than the original show. I felt the same way you did when I watched this for the first time. Looking forward to your next reaction video. :)
It's funny because while watching BB, I always thought that despite Gus being a force to be reckoned with, he was reasonable. But after watching BCS, I saw the cold side of Gus that was so terrifying and it only reinforced how scary he could be. In the upcoming episodes he has a monologue that gave me literal chills when I heard it.

omg i was watching your videos to breaking bad as i started watching it and i just about finished breaking bad a few days after you uploaded your last breaking bad video, and i finished better call saul a few days ago and even though some of these comments are 7 months old implying youve probably already seen the whole thing it will be cool to actually watch these as they get uploaded
I honestly feel bad for the Pollos Hermanos employees unknowingly being part of Gus' dealings. They're just living their lives and doing their jobs at a fast food.

James, if you like the guy who played Chuck (Michael McKean), you might like him in his early role, tongue in cheek, This Is Spinal Tap movie. They just released Spinal Tap 2 last month with him in it again. It's funny/weird to see "Chuck" rock out. But you should see the first one to get the following.
