Tachibana, Shinji, Reina, Nishiki, Yumi, Ryuji...Damn, it’s too many for me to list. But that shows how much of a _real_ man Kiryu is. That he’s willing to turn a chance to talk to one of them down so calmly, rather than beg Maya to let him speak to one of them one final time. People like him are badasses, not because of what they do, but because they’re that willing to let their loved ones go, instead of clinging onto their memories desperately, begging for whatever higher power they praise to return those they lost.
How do you avoid catastrophic injury? "Who said we avoided them?" Asked the man whose been whipped in the courtroom, tasered unconscious in a police records room, been given amnesia with a fire extinguisher, hit by *several* cars, and fell off a burning bridge.
That last one makes me wonder if Phoenix is so hard-wired at finding contradictions he objects to things even outside the courtroom. Like, say...at a diner. Waitress: And here's your hamburger, sir. Phoenix: OBJECTION! I ordered a cheeseburger!
This actually happens in Rise From the Ashes! Minor spoilers... (Is this far enough?) (I dunno...) Edgeworth was telling Phoenix the origin story of the Chinese word for contradiction, and Phoenix yelled "*Objection!*" as soon as he noticed the contradiction. And then Corned started playing! XD

Elesis: You're a spirit summoner right? Then could you possibly... Elsword: Don't, sis. You'll traumatise yourself again. Maya: Whoever it is, it might be someone precious to you two.
Maya: Reimu-chan did you have to go do some crazy training to use magic. Reimu: No this is normal in Gensokyo. Marisa: Yep everyone can use some form of magic there.
Yeah. they changed the names, turned "Miso Ramen" into "Double Cheeseburgers", mentioned the legal system in Germany... it's weird that they didn't insist that it was the LA legal system.
Majima: Y'know, Professor Wright? I've once met this crazy girl who wouldn't mind whipping anyone. And I was thinkin'... that she and I would be the perfect match! Phoenix: ...Huh... a "crazy girl that wouldn't mind whipping anyone", you say...? (Oh, man... Mr. Majima and HER as a TEAM...? I'm not sure that's something I'd like to see... Or feel...) Waitwaitwait. Correct my understanding if it's wrong, but in least the American Phoenix Wright games, aren't Phoenix and Maya NOT Japanese (not counting possible ethnicity)? I mean, the games take place in America in the American versions and all... If I'm "wright" (durr hurr hurr), then that's quite a mix-up on the part of the localization. And Ryu saying "Can I come? Can I come?" like a kid? Talk about out of character. XD
+Mark Joseph Esmeria I learned that, but I don't see why they didn't change that to their American backgrounds in the American versions of the AA games in the PXZ2 localization here, especially with how the characters' names aren't even Japanese in the localization (such as Phoenix Wright himself, who has an English name).
+Mark Joseph Esmeria ...What? I was talking about the English dialogue in this game. I wasn't talking about any voice acting. Also, I doubt the localization was lazy to fix such a small difference in this game considering how they went out of their way to write in stuff such as Sheath's unique manner of speaking (which I heard was different from the Japanese text) and Xiaomu's references to other games and media, which as gotten the localization praise.
I think they should've changed Phoenix's dialogue (trialogue?) with Chris and Jill so it didn't contradict the others that said/implied that he was American. Maybe this exchange should've read something like: Jill: I have never seen any lawyers capable of what you do. It's pretty impressive. Chris: What I'm wondering is how you manage to avoid catastrophic injuries in court. Phoenix: Who said I avoided them?
Phoenix is American in the USA. it's as simple as that. Oh and Franziska is German if ur wondering. Which makes sense. I meam why r people watching live action in Japan instead of Anime?
(Viewtiful Joe & Sexy Silvia from Viewtiful Joe) Viewtiful Joe: And that's that... Whew! I'm famished! I can go for a cheeseburger! Maya: I know how that feels. Anytime me and Nick wins a case, we go out for burgers. Sexy Silvia: Can't these two eat anything but burgers?
Maya: I sense someone important in your history, Jin. Should I try to summon them? Jin: Don't bother. I can't even confirm for myself if she's dead or not. Kazuya: ...Are you talking about who I think you are?

There’s no such thing as a yokai within people!” Rhys: “Hold it! Sorry, Mr. Wright, but Shiftlings literally do have yokai within themselves! Might wanna check the evidence again, as you always do.”
Rita Mordio (Tales of Vesperia) and Athena Cykes (Ace Attorney Dual Destinies) Rita: Thinking back on it, I believe Terca Lumireis could've used lawyers like you two in its legal system. Phoenix: No thanks. We've already had our hands full in our time. Athena: Even in mine, cases are VERY hard already. I wouldn't even try in another world.
+Extremmefan Franziska von Karma (Ace Attorney: Justice for All) & Simon Blackquill (Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies) Franziska: Well, this makes another open-and-shut case solved, Mr. Phoenix Wright. Simon: Wright-Dono, you did well to make an opening for us. Phoenix: Well, you're welcome, I guess.
+Extremmefan Kogoro Tenzai & Mii Koryuji (Project X Zone) Kogoro: Well, case closed. I guess that wraps this up. Maya: Heh, well, Nick and I have gotten into some crazy cases, but not as crazy as these. Mii: Wow! Same as me and Kogoro here! Eugene Gallardo (Tales of Rebirth) and Apollo Justice (Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney) Maya: So, how powerful do you get by using your Force of Steel, Eugene? Eugene: Around 10 to 20 times as strong as the Steel Samurai. Apollo: Well, I guess my Chords of Steel are that of the Steel Samurai. Jon Talbain & Donovan Blaine (Darkstalkers) Jon: The Kurain Channeling Technique, used by only the females of the Fey family. I wonder if I could speak with the late Mia Fey? Donovan: Well, if we learn of her killer, we'll put them in their place. Phoenix: Hold it! I won't have vigilantism acted against all the criminals I've put away!
This game really has no consistency on whether Phoenix and Maya are from America or Japan. Here they say Japan, while Phoenix says America in his intro convo with Ryu and Ken.
Kung Lao: wait, Mr. Wright, Johnny Cage want you to become his defendant attorney. Phoenix: Who this Johnny Cage guy anyway? Liu Kang: He is one of us, also he made the silly movie call "Ninja Mime".
Seriously, what is it with the translation trying to fit in more lines that the original Japanese dialogue never even uttered? Ryu and Ken's specifically when Ryu says "Can I come? Can I come?" Where I doubt Ryu asked the same question twice in a row, let along act extremely out of character to act excited enough to say that line. Really, imagine this. Ryu, a man of few words and one of the most stoic videogame characters of all time, apparently erupts in childish glee when someone mentions training under a waterfall. The localizers must have smoked ten joints while translating this game. Even the cute little internet memes and references spouted by Xiaomu aren't enough to save it.
Yet everyone praises the translations as being one of the game's strongest points. I mean, it's not broken English like the NxC translation, I'll give it that. But it's still hot, hot garbage.
I'm struck by how touching Kiryu's line here is. I didn't expect to see something so heartwarming in a silly crossover game.
