interesting video, I have a suzuki swift that I use from uber, 125,000km, always with 10w40 semi-synthetic, I think I will try my next change to 5w30, it could have a slight fuel economy and better acceleration, temperatures oscillate between -5° and 30°, it is a very temperate climate here in Chile
Been saying this for awhile, advantage of 5W40 will be better oil shear protection at elevated temps but will have higher parasitic loss than the 5W30.
I also read from alot of expert that the “shear” occurs at the pressure areas such as bearings and piston rings but ones they exit, viscosity returns to its original state. So the term “shearing” is improper because it is just temporary. Shearing is very low with synthetic because they have a “anti-shear” additive….. which I forgot what it was called.

I own a 2013 Kia Rio, and it did not consume oil in the main engine, but I installed a new engine and noticed that it was decreasing, and I did not find any oil leakage. When does the decrease in oil become a danger to the engine and when does intervention require? Is it when the warning light lights up or when the oil becomes at a low level?
I usually would recommend what ever is recommended in the manual. But if its “burning” oil , I would try a heavier weight than recommend. I highlighted burning because that is the sign when the engine is going bad, which will be confirmed by a blue/bluish grey smoke frome the exhaust.
