On a basic shot for shot level, I think the CC1 can compete with the best of them. What you lose is the materials / longevity (potentially) and also the recovery / ability to produce drink after drink after drink. Just smaller components overall. But if you want something that you can truly geek out on / experiment with shot quality / temp, the CC1 is a great choice. - Kat
Thank you for this. This machine is a huge step up from what I'm using today. I realize the more expensive machines cost more due to higher quality materials, parts and finishes not to mention elegance (subjective), but from the stand point of extraction control/versatility and shot quality, would you say the CC1 is capable of pulling shots as easily as high-end prosumer machines? (Eg. ease of "dialing in" the machine for the specific coffee you're using for the optimum shot quality).
@pasquash44 Spurting is often a symptom of channeling -- due to inconsistent particle size or clumping. It happens for us on most machines/grinders and unless you're working with a high end grinder, is just a fact o' life - Kat
PS. My main concern is whether or not I should save my money and use it towards a Rocket R58 or something along that range or buy something cheaper to play with. Right now and can get by with my Mypressi/Hario hand grinder combo, which is capable of pulling amazing shots (but not without the effort). I have been really obsessed about espresso, learning as much as I can and have gone as far as roasting my own beans and create my own blends. It truly is a labor of love lol. It's great fun.

@thePowerPlant Channeling - so either clumping or variable particle size. Also can be tamp if that's uneven. - Kat

@StormTrek Nope, not released yet but they will be doing so early next year - Kat
@jamin3d I was just checking that out! Seems interesting; hope it works out for them :) - Kat

We'll be adding it shortly ... :) - Kat
@cdidato No bottomless PF's for Breville machines at this time - Kat
@cdidato Check out the video we just made about all types of portafilters to find out why you might want this vs. another style - Kat
If the pour doesn't come together in the middle, is it indicative of anything or purely aesthetic?
is there a single spout portafliter for the cc1 and/or one that will fit
thank you
@mark2500 I WILL - I stayed up all night! ;)
It's a shame you girls didn't use shot glasses this time. It's always fun to see the Guinness every time someone busts out a bottomless portafilter.
got one for the Breville 860 Express?
@Gig103 Not right now, no :/ - Kat
@SeattleCoffeeGear Haha. Don't worry about it. :)
@TheTraumaFactor :D
@mark2500 Sorry!
No, there is not - Kat
So the video doesn't explain why you would want this?
well hey therrreeeee :)
@jamin3d lol... go to home-barista, they're more experienced
