I only learned of his passing from this video. I used to visit Neil when he was living near Young's Circle in Hollywood Florida. He was always very gracious and we would talk for hours about Steel Guitar and Country Music.
Neil's playing greatly enhanced Gram Parsons' road band. The Live 1973 album is a most cherished possession with its energetic and beautiful music. Also proud that Neil came from Canada.
Such a great pedal steel sound and classic sound. I remember the first time listening to Neil play when he was with Gram Parsons, and I always enjoyed Neil’s playing. Really going to miss this guy. Others could learn from Neil’s killer steel style for sure. 👍
Neil I hope you achieved all the the success you deserved it was a pleasure to play with you a couple of times before you left Montreal RIP my friend B Ashby
That was lovely. Neil was not only a great player, but a super guy. I can't say I knew him really well, but every time we interacted, he was warm, kind, funny and self- effacing. Rest well.
First song is "Sweet Memories," second song is "Sleepwalk," third song is "Steel Guitar Rag" featuring Landis Armstrong accompanying on electric and acoustic guitar, fourth song is "A Fallen Star."
