➡ So you like seafood, yeah? Good news, because this is the vlog you are looking for, if you want a virtual taste of the best Portuguese seafood you can find.
In this video we went ALL-IN on Portuguese seafood, as we visited the iconic and famous seafood restaurant, Ramiro, which attracts thousands of people on a weekly basis. We knew that Ramiro would be difficult to get a table at, but we were able to get in without too much waiting, as we got there before they opened at 12:00.
When we left a few hours later, there were more than hundred people waiting to get a table at an already fully booked restaurant. But we learned why people were so eager to visit. The Ramiro seafood is the best we've ha so far here in Portugal.
After Ramiro we went to another one of the best seafood restaurants in Lisbon. It's called IBO Restaurant and this is where you get first class seafood where both the presentation and taste is beyond amazing. We had the best bacalhau (cod fish) we've ever had. It was INSANE, but it is not hard to see why. How tasty???
After being blown away at IBO we took the ferry to Almada on the other side of the Tagus River, where we wanted to eat at Ponto Final that is famous for it's

I think on of the best place where you can find seafood in Portugal is in Peniche, Nazaré, Setubal... it goes almost from the sea almost direct to plate..
Sugestions: Sardinhas Assadas, Polvo a Lagareiro, Caldeirada de Peixe..
Sapateira, carabineiros, lapas, ostras, mexilhões, santolas, percebes, lavagante, navalha....:)

Yup! The berlengas rule! Not much to eat or drink though. So you might bring your own. But the landscape is awesome!

Well , I belive now you are getting it why Portuguese food often dont look good (in presentation on a plate) but the taste is awsome and fresh , those scarlet prawns or carabineiros are one of our best seafood but very expensive , its is unusual to see scalops here they are not common (if any) in our waters , more common are the clams and razor clams . monkfish used to be very cheap here untill someone found you can use it as lobster substitute (scam) , but now its expensive but great on that rice. Greek fish and sea food can be good but comes from warm waters (mediterranean) but our fish and sea food comes from cold waters (atlantic ocean) so the taste is diferent

We love how juicy and rich Portuguese seafood is, that why it’s better than the Greek. However Greeks are also very good at cocking their seafood.

I'm the same, it literally brings tears to my eyes. I've never lived in Portugal but since moving away from London (middle east and now Australia) I don't get to go back often...the food is the biggest thing for me. It's so good in Portugal that I end up hating every other place I've lived in because I miss it so much haha

Lisbon is for tourists
Typical Portuguese always with it's criticisms.. Learn to appreciate other cities mate, there is more besides the North ya know?
Well I don’t think it’s cheeped in Porto. We payed the same for food in Porto and in Douro that we do in Lisbon. But I think it’s true that when you discover places that is less touristy you pay less.
We are looking very much forward to discover the north in June 🙌

Will be cruising to Lisbon this September and we decided to stay 3 days after we disembark because we've heard such great things about Lisbon and want to tour the city. @@joenandamalie it´s not that expensive i speak for myself because i did it one around europe, and for the experience is very good. you can get a cruise for both of you around 1500 2000 euros easly of course if you want something more extravagant its more expensive of course and would be good seeing some vlogs about both of you in a cruise. i which the best luck for both of you

I love your channel, and Lisbon is one of my favorite cities. For seafood, well on the outskirts of Ericeira - go to Marisqueira Ribamar. It screams Classy. Like you said, Ramiro is fantastic. Rua dos sapateiros - O Arco - the one that looks like a blues bar (I think there is another Arco on the same street!) - their octopus is the best in the world. Soooo tender.

Here in Portugal is usual for restaurants to close between 3pm and 7pm. Those 4 hours are breaks for the employees. If they didn't close in that period, they would have to hire an extra shift. The hot sauce scene was hilarious ahahaah
Yeah we know that. But if businesses is good you can afford more employees and you will earn more money since you have a money-making window between 3-7.

You have to cook some Portuguese food at home tonight :)
when o get very hot food ( with lots of tabacco like) the best thing to do is to eat a bit of bread with a good amount of butter. Soon you´ll feel a lot better! This works also for hot curry or chilli! You should try "Arroz de Marisco" ( seafood rice) from Vieira de Leiria ( near Leiria - 130/140 Km from Lisbon), it´s considered one of best of his kind. You can also try "sopa do Vidreiro" on restaurants around Marinha Grande, a codfish soup, made with codfish. patatoes, boiled egg, garlic, coriender and olive oil. This was the usual meal of many workers that were working at the existing glass factories, from 1800 until late 70s of Sec XX. You should also try barnicles ( My prefered seafood!!!!), at Ericeira. Last Try açorda de marisco ( seafood on a mix of sutffed bread on a base of olive oil and garlid... delicious) - go to Sesimbra for it.

A lot Lisbon's restaurants close between 4-7 and open at 8pm or later. The Portuguese tend to eat later.

If you want to cross the river tejo in a open boat you have to go Belem and catch the boat to Trafaria or Porto Bandão, it's quite nice. In Porto Brandão you have to eat a Carvoada

hi guys! I have a chalenge for you... try a day out in Sesimbra. For the best grilled fish experience you must look for the Isaias. Not a fancy place but defenetly the best grilled fish you will ever eat. You have to go early cause there is too many people. And for some petiscos you should look for Formiga. Try that, you wont regret it. The village of Sesimbra is wonderfull but i dont recomend it on the high season. Any month excluding july,august and mid september. Try it! Enjoy Portugal guys!

Visit Setubal it’s south of Lisboa,it has some of the best beaches and fish especially octopus, these a dish called choco frito which is fried cattle fish
Delicious food while enjoying the view of the backdrop of the pristine white sands of the beaches and, the surrounding sound of the roaring ocean creating a jaw-dropping romantic atmosphere so you can enjoy 5-star delicacies that are affordable in Lisbon. This is free this time.. heheh
wow amazing vlog, keeping it real it is good to see things like not being able to get a table, food is amazing. Seems so much butter though, I guess this is not possible but would you be able to find any restaurants with semi-healthy and delicious food? like vegan options (I am not a Vegan, but sometimes they have healthy dishes that taste great). There are healthy options here in Lisbon. But seafood is actually some of the healthiest food you can get like what we had on Ramiro.

We use very little butter in portuguese cuisine (except for pastry and desserts). We use mostly olive oil, which is a healthy fat and is the one you see in that cod dish.
The portuguese sea water is a bit cold to be in the beach out of summertime but that gives you the so high quality of fresh fish that you hardly can find elsewhere. The last time i enjoyed monkfish with rice; My one had navalheiras ( Lingueirão) Razor clams in it as well! Five stars: It was like a thousand years ago at the Algarve!

It´s been a long time since I visited one of those fav fish/saeafood restaurants in & around Lisbon ..SAUDADES .. supreme confort food.. don´t forget to watch out for that colesterol as sea food rises it up .. keep posting those pearls ...OMG can´t believe the amount of Gibundo(piri-piri) you have put in your arroz Amelia.. oh well its a known afrodisiac ;D

Btw just cooked myself a mushroom risoto with shrimps to go along with my mediterrenean salad and with my palmela, white wine, dinner will be a octupus and fish eggs salad and a boemia beer 😎 dont forget to blog our petiscos (tapas); I also forgot to mention earlier that the monk fish known in Portugal as Tamboril it´s not a well sought out fish in here (as well as its cousin charroco) still theres those who do appreciated it and theres two traditional dishes with it (one you tried it already .. arroz tamboril) and the monk fish stew or if you prefer the cataplana de tamboril but no.. its not expensive in Portugal. Also will leave the request/tip for next vlogs that you must showcase the deserts, petiscos (tapas/snacks), and ofc for the true iberian the poaching which means quail,
partridge, pigeon, pheasant, rabitt, hare, duck, water woodcock, thrush, wild boar, deer, doe, etc, etc.. and ofc don´t forget the arroz de cabidela de lampreia (lamprey bloody rice)
My preference, for what it's worth, is that you explore mountain villages in Portugal rather than reporting from a cruise ship. Love the unicorn in a bathtub comparison. Took the words right out of my mouth! Have you tried Açorda de Marisco? Bacalhau à Gomes de Sá?

You could also try those restaurants at Porto Brandão... fish or sea food, of course.
Porto Brandão is on Almada's side, but in front of Belém. You can either catch a ferry in Belem, or cross the bridge and go by car. Not many boats, though, so maybe better go by car.
Has also a great atmosphere and Lisbon view!
P. S. - Porto Brandão, it's a small fishermen village, with a small river beach (do not go in the water there, please! lol)

I recently found out your channel and I have been loving the content. I just have a quick question, "STAY CLASSY VLOG" does it stand for trying fancy\expensive food? Or do you guys actually try a little bit of everything? One thing is for sure, you went to a couple of places that the prices are considered to be extremely above the average. (If I recall correctly, you guys went to a very elegant restaurant and the bill was 100€ for 2 people which is considered to be a lot here lol)

In serra da Estrela, try our bacalhau com broa, in the best hotel in Serra da Estrela..Casa de S.Lourenço, in Manteigas. But : come in automn(end october) to see the fantastic colorful wood. Try also restaurant "Soadro do Zêzere"👍
You can aldo go to Lourinhã to a reataurant called Pão Saloio and try their Cod fish...you wont regret!

When you go to Madeira, besides Peixe espada-preto, and our Tunafish, you should try Lapas, it's a very typical food there, and in the rest of the country is not as fresh and as abundant as in Madeira. They don't look so good, but in the good restaurants it's a MUST!!!! My fav seafood ever!!!!
Lapas, a glass of Coral (our local beer) and a sunset at the beach (advise: Paul do Mar would be the best!), must try that ;)
Rule number one : never soak your food in hot sauce without trying its true power first! That was not Tabasco, it was like piri piri sauce, but even worse! By the way you can buy monkfish at good supermarkets and it is great stewed with tomato and wine or fileted and fried. The bones and head, which is a bit scary, are used for broths and sauces. Although it is expensive it is worth every cent.
I recommend trying lingueirão or canilhas as called in some parts of the country.
