Thanks, great tutorial! I've been stuck in UA-cam/internet hell for the last 3 hours trying to find just this sort of basic information. This is an awesome and concise demo.
i know this comment was from 4 years ago but DAMN do i resonate with this. Spent an entire weekends worth of a paycheck (part-time working highschool kid so a lot of money to me) on a ps2, memory cards, controller, and games but panicked when I realized I literally could not connect it to anything. Luckily i found this, just hoping ps1 games played on the console dont get messed up do to resolution and all that confusing stuff.
As long as the Gamecube is the DOL-001 model with the digital out port, you can get an HDMI adapter for it to give the console native HDMI output (no analog/digital conversion necessary).
oh my god you’ve literally just saved my life, i’ve just bought a gamecube and did no homework beforehand and thought i’d have to return it!! turns out it’s not too much of a job to get it to work on a modern monitor! thanks a lot, will def be subscribing
I searched “how to connect ps2 to modern TVs” and there was articles showing how to connect those composite cables on your tv. After that I think that there are kids today that they don’t even know that those red/yellow/white cables are. I felt old...
AreaG41 I only know Compositor cables (Red white and yellow cables) from my old pal PS3, Oh the memories! Feel bad for kids these days with HDMI cables only.
Mate you’ve done a great service with this video. With technology constantly evolving, I thought there was no way to play my old games without downloading an emulator . 🍻
I can't describe the help you provided to me! I was desperate, never to play PS2 again but thank to you I will try this device with the first chance! The tutorial was great and very helpful. Thank you very much!
I just bought a modded GameCube off Facebook and realized my smart tv is only hdmi thank god I ran into this video as I just purchased the converter on Amazon and it’ll arrive tomorrow!!! Live saver
A word of advice from me, before doing it, just be sure that monitors had a built-in speakers Or else PS1 and any consoles won't have a sound. As my personal experience...i even used the alternative speaker with RCA port ( red and white one )
Very well explained, I congratulate you, it was very useful for your Tutorial to connect it from the game cube to the Monitor with the adapter that showed.
Angela Brown thanks...I did get a scart to hdmi unit and it works great on my n64, I can adjust the format on the tv its like going back in time playing the n64 ..
Cladcreeper You know you can get a first generation wii which are way chepper than gamecube and the first models of wii can play gamecube games by Backwards compatibility you just need the game A controller and memory card And i also recommend get a wii component cable which are Way Chepper Than the gamecube ones
Cladcreeper Well you can download nintendont on your wii and play gamecube games through emulation you can search it up on UA-cam Or you can buy An disc drive for the wii they aren’t too expensive but you have to teardown The console to Put the new dvd drive

PS2toHDMI and for gamecube you can have GC Video HDMI, is a board to conect the console directly from the digital port to hdmi TV :D and cost only 60 dolars or the component cable clon for the same price
The PS2toHDMI you can easily find on ebay. As for the GC Video HDMI, MetalJesusRocks did a video on it, find his video and follow the link in your description. If you are going to use external converters, at least use RGB SCART. There's a great website called Retro Gaming Cables that sell excellent quality SCART leads for game consoles and you can find SCART to HDMI devices for cheap on ebay.
Dude, great video! Thank you! I just bought A GameCube today (great deal btw) (had one when i was younger but that one had to stay at my parents house) bought a converter and i cant wait to play it on my 4k philips ambilight tv. lets hope for the best! again thanks for the video!!
My Dell monitor had an option of speakers as an accessory and it connects to the bottom of the monitor. But it was another $40, now days you can get a lot of monitors with built in speakers.
Dude thank you so much the fact that you took time into explaining the device and how to get the right box and how you can get confused help so much I was trying to get my laptop to show on my old ass tv and it wouldn’t work and I was pretty upset but I realize now that the input/output was just wrong so thanks a lot
Hello, I have a question: I bought a monitor, but it has no audio. So can i just put the yellow chinch cable in the adapter and connect it to the monitor? I would connect the white and red cable direktly to my sound system for sound instead of the adapter. So the white and red input of the adapter would stay free. Does it work? I hope you understand my question. Greetings from Germany :)
Yeah I did this with my ps3 to computer monitor with the 3.5mm adaptor thing with the 2 outputs like in the video. It was complicated as hell but I figured it out...
This is a great guide but for people that want better resolution(on GameCube) you could use retro prism component cables, the EON hdmi adapter or the carby. I’ve seen that the Carby and a classic upscaler looks amazing but it costs a lot. For the ps2 I’d recommend getting component cables (and a retro tink if your tv doesn’t have component cables)
SITH GIRL, PS2 can display up to 1080i via component cable but only 5 games in entire PS2 library support that resolution and 50% of the library support 480p and the rest is 480i.
my advice? DON'T just do not connect a old system to a HD screen unless it has component cause that's digital but it'd be more optimal on a Cathode Ray Tube TV because they know how to handle those old resolutions far better than an upscaler
Cathode Ray Tube TVs go for super cheap.... why would you throw one out? if you're a gamer that makes you seem like the biggest idiot too. they're cheap and easy to setup and are unbeaten with input delay in the nanoseconds (smaller than milliseconds), if you're going to use a screen for gaming Cathode Ray Tube Televisions are the go-to option
you're kidding me right? you might not be searching in the right location. anyways like I said before throwing out CRT TVs is a mistake, not only does it cause problems from the glass and transportation for others but when they have to get rid of any left over electrical charge they risk their life doing so.... Did you ever have an old TV? they're big and bulky and new tvs are HORRIBLE for gaming the newer kind they are, the more likely to have input delay issues. so look for the newest kind of a 4k tv or 8k, cause ones made in their early days have input lag problems yeah just go searching for a CRT and a HDMI to AV converter the old Bulky TVs are just easier to look for not that hard, I'd search for an RGB scart one, but if you aren't in a PAL region they won't be easy to find and since you're looking for a Professional Video Monitor another form of CRT, they go for higher prices as that Professional isn't marketing it's because it wasn't a consumer TV
What a great video. What size monitor do you suggest to use with older consoles? What size was the one you used during this video? Do you think all of this would work for even older consoles like Dreamcast or PS1? Thanks
@Galios Bonus points: those Wii2HDMI and PS2HDMI plug adapters use component/YPbPr signal outputs from the consoles, not the composite shit shown in this video
You are a true sweetheart I have a bunch of old gaming systems that I can’t play anymore because as you know they don’t make that kind of technology for TVs anymore they don’t make those TV kind anymore or those kinds of TV anymore so I got a big screen TV with no way of hooking up anything so thank you very much and God bless you
Plug the 3.5mm connector into the headphone jack on the back of the monitor and plug the USB connector into a USB wall adapter and plug that into a power socket
You could do that, but the way I hooked my GameCube up to my smart tv is plugging the composite cables into the component ports. It was trial and error, but I was able to get it to work after some time.
