    If only more people could disagree the way we do, the world would be a better place. I had no idea I wasn't subscribed, been following you on Instagram for some time now. Rectified.

      Totally agreed. I love disagreement, it’s what makes us unique. No need for the fragility of egos in this complex world. Spirited debate with someone you respect is beautiful when both parties walk way with a smile on their face, not because they feel they WON, but because they were engaged with an open mind. I also think we find common ground in our mutual dislike of Crystal Pepsi.

      This vidoe popped up in my feed. I really enjoyed it. I played this becaue I thought it might be sort of a reply to shadetrees video, that I found very hilarious. He really did rip on the Heritage. I already knew that bike wasn't for me. You have done a great job making yours nice, anf I am glad you like it.

    I absolutely love my 2019 Heritage classic with the 114. Granted, I removed the dog bowl, swapped the tank caps, bought Mustang seat, did a stage 2 torque cam, added a Reckless fairing...haha! I made this bike my own and love it! 👍👍👍👍👍👽👽👽👽👽

    If we all liked the same bike equally, they would only make one model. I watched Shade Tree’s video and thought it was well done, in his own style. I, too, own a ‘19 Heritage 114, as well as a ‘15 SGS, and took no offense and appreciate his opinions, though I may not agree with them all. If it runs and has two wheels, it’s worth a ride!

    I bought my '20 Heritage Classic 114 last October. What drew me to the bike WAS the looks. Mine is black, the fastest color. 😉 I did test ride a '19 before I bought mine. I like the power of the 114 and how the bike rides and handles, especially compared to my '14 Ultra Limited, which I still have. After installing V&H slip-ons and an H-D engine guard, I think the bike sounds and looks great. I installed smoked LED turn signals and a smoked LED brake light. I'm 5'11", wear a Shoei Neotec, and I have no issues with buffeting. Sure, there are things about the bike that could be better. I find the bags just a tad small. I occasionally wear a half-helmet which doesn't fit in them. I'm not a big fan of the push-buttons on top. Also, I'm not a big fan of the counterbalanced engine. I get some vibrations through the bars and footboards, but new grips helped a little with that issue. I haven't been on any long trips, but I find the seat to be plenty comfortable. I also added a Grasshopper rider backrest, which adds to the comfort. Overall, I'm liking the bike more and more the more miles I ride it. FWIW, I don't watch Shadetree. I find him a little over-dramatic for my tastes.

    • @GearsGadgets
      @GearsGadgets  3 роки тому +1

      HAHA the FASTEST color for sure. I like the idea of adding an Ultra Limited to my stable at some point as well. The bags could be SLIGHTLY deeper without looking to obnoxious. As far as Shadetree is concerned, just like motorcycles ALL of us UA-camrs are subjective which is also fine. I have a huge respect for his presentation and the hard work that I know goes into his productions. I am a Shadetree fan but I’m sure he understands some people aren’t no different than I am sure a bunch of his fans wont like me for some reason or another. Thanks for the comment... Ride Safe!!

    To each his own! Both videos are what motorcycling is all about ! Make it YOUR own and if you don’t look back you bought the wrong bike. All motorcycles are subjective based on experience, body type, ride style, etc etc and your both made those points well. Well done 👍🏼. I rode the 107 and 114 and enjoyed both. My favorite HD ride thus far has been the RK special. But the buffering with it is a bit much, or else it be perfect bike FOR ME. And that’s the bottom line. What fits YOU. Thanks Dan !

    I just did 1700 mile on my 2022 Heritage last week end and have no complaints with the seat. I was surprised because this is the first bike that I could ride all day without being tired. Cruising a 60 in 6th gear save a lot of gas. The rider backrest and cruise control Is such a game changer. i bought the plugs that cover the locking button and was caught in a down poor. No water at all in the bags. This bike can tour with the best of them. It is so balanced coming up to a stop light or sign, half the time I don't have to put my foot down a 4 way intersections. Best bike I have ever owned and I have own a lot of them over 50 years.

Similar to your previous videos about your thoughts on how HD should re design the bagger lineup... I really enjoyed your graphics of how the Streetglide could look. Good video, 2k sold. 😂
    I’ve owned so many different HD’s and have several other bikes. I have to tell you, it’s like shoes to me, what you plan on doing (or going) and what you’re in the mood for. I have to tell you the whole reason I got another heritage is because it is the closest bike to what I fell in love with motorcycling with. It’s simple and pure. If I’m being honest, it’s one of my “go to” bikes and it’s rare not to get compliments. I guess that’s why there are so many different types of bikes out there, because one does not fit all.
    Stay well and ride safe brother. 🤙🏼

    Horses for courses, I bought a Sport Glide a few weeks ago, after a bunch of humming and hah-ing, it's everything I expected it to be. The dealer warned me I'd have a sore backside after riding the 700k's home, I didn't, the seat was fine, or all of the nerves are already dead from years of riding. Love the bike, we're all different, shadetree's entertaining and his views are just as valid as yours or mine or anyone else riding a bike, good to see everyone can be objective and not start a sh_t fight, just for the sake of it. Kudos.

    I own a 2019 Heritage Classic 114. Best bike I’ve ever owned. Great for around town and some long trips as well. Have gone 2 up with wife several times with no issues. Get a lot of complements on the old school bike look. To each their own. I’m 59 years old now--so the slightly lighter weight is a big benefit for me. Remember-whatever bike you ride-as long as you still stop and look back at it as you walk away and like your ride-- it’s all good. Stay safe everyone and ride smart.

    Love the heritage. Came over from a 97' evo super glide. The heritage is the only thing sold that has everything my old bike had and more without needing to add anything. The bars, bags, windshield, were on my old bike and the cruise control, abs and spot lights really sweetened the deal without adding a ton of extra unnecessary weight as well as maintaining a timeless look, unlike outdated speakers and navigation within 5 years. The only concerns/issues I have with the heritage is though the spoked wheels looks great and nostalgic, I don't want to send a spoke through the inner tube, and it was wayyyyy to quiet! I had stage 1 tune and s&s 2into1 equal length exhaust installed to fix that problem and wow did it make a huge improvement. All in all it's a great bike, and easily the most versatile bike harley makes. Plus chick's dig it 👈😎👈 safe travels

    I didn't object to Shadetree either, different strokes for different folks! I didn't buy a Heritage, I bought the Deluxe 2018 for my 66th birthday, I'm a chrome guy and like the old-school look. I have changed my bike to be like a Heritage including the longer shock absorber. The 107 was very powerful to me as the last HD I owned was a 1994 Ultra, 80 inch., great ride, but low power but great for touring. I really love my Deluxe/Heritage!

    Good video man. I have a 2020 heritage classic V107 in vivid black and I love it. I opted for the 107 because I love the chrome look. The 107 for me has more than enough power. I don't really have any gripes about the bike other than with HD. They should have put LED lights in the rear and gave a nicer tail lamp like the Deluxe tombstone. I'm 6' and get wind buffeting but that's not the fault of HD. I put an extension wind deflector and no more buffeting. Saddlebags no issue and the dummy gas cap doesn't matter to me, its just there and I don't touch it. If the dummy gas cap wasn't there then the real gas cap belongs in the center of the tank...can go all day with opinions but its all good...lol

Just because it suited me doesn't mean it does everyone and that's cool. There are so many different models and mods people can make them whatever they want. Hi Dan enjoyed your video. Yes we all have our likes and dislikes weather it be seats, windscreens or suspension. I own a Heritage and really enjoy riding it the only thing I wish I could change would be seeing the instruments/warning lights better. We often go touring on it never had gear wet in the bags and like yourself had adjusted the suspension. Have Vance and Hines pipes and man it sounds great. The style of the bike reflects back to the good old days and love the look. A bit like Porsche the style of car reflects back to the old days and they've stuck with it refining where they need to as with the new heritage. Enjoy riding your bike because you got it to fit and enhance your ride like I did.

    G & G, good video. I have a 2018 Heritage and love it! However, I also experienced really bad buffeting. I'm 6' but long in the back and shorter (29-30" inseam) in the leg. I solved this after watching a video on youtube from another FLHCS rider also suffering buffeting who fitted some wind deflectors from jescustomaccents (from your side of the pond) along with a screen extender from Touratech for good measure! Great response video! as channel shows I own a 2020 heritage 114 and absolutely love it . Mr Shadetree while entertaining in a TV wrestler manner - think Macho man Randy Savage, Is not the most objective person around. A quick read of the Owners manual would tell you not to twist the left cap . Its there to balance the looks and imho is way better than the old fuel gauge in the cap of the past. If the bags leak , i wouldn't know as i live in Phoenix too . it may never rain again here it seems lately . I have had a 107 in a road king and while the 114 is indeed effortlessly powerful , i dont find it that different than the 107. better than the 103 TC though. i didnt care for the windshield and added a reckless batwing- major improvement ( thanks JP) This is an excellent bike and deserves better . I mean maybe it would be better with a scrap heap vetter trunk--- nah! . I think he was so put off by the fake gas cap disaster that it colored his whole opinion
    Ride safe fellow az rider!

      I just did the same. I liked the Heritage but the Road King is more comfortable for long trips, which is what I'm going to use it for. At first, I thought my Heritage could be like a Swiss Army Knife, good for short trips to the coffee shop and also for long rides. What I found was it was a little too heavy to be fun for short trips and not comfortable and functional enough for long trips. So I traded it in for a new Road King with all the new safety stuff on it, and bought a slightly used 2018 Sportster Roadster for short trips. I'm happier now.

      The Road King is defiantly the better value for the money. You can get the RDRS system on it and it is more comfortable. Personally I think the Road King is a better all around motorcycle, daily raider, touring, going down curvy roads. The Heritage is nice, but it is just not as nice as the Road King.

    I have a 2019 Heritage and love it. I have even gone 2 up with the wife on 100-200 trips with no issues- I did upgrade the passenger seat for her. Overall, I get a lot of looks and comments about how the bike looks. I love it. Baggers are cool too-but for the town riding and the shorter trips I do-can’t beat it his bike. I do respect all points of view.

    Differing opinions make the world more interesting. Having said that, I also own a 2019 Heritage 114. You are right when you say you need to adjust and dial in the suspension. Its a good ride after you do. I did happen to change out my seat to a Sundowner for touring and doing the long miles. My 114 has a SE Power Cam with a HD Tuner and a set of Tab Pipes and i reckon it would blow my CVO117 Ultra with a S&S475 Cam and Cobra Pipes & Headers into the weeds (accept that there is a big weight difference). He is correct in his assertion about tha bags. Just my opinion but I find the shape as poor and also my bags leak when I wash the bike. HD say that they are not fully Waterproof like the Hard bags are supposed to be, so nothing they can do. Im 6ft and also dont get the buffeting. With all that said I really do love my Heritage either to go touring or when you remove the screen and bags to ride around town (Best of both Worlds).

      thanks for the comment. I agree it is a really versatile bike. I do understand the bag complaints slightly but in my opinion it is a concession made when going Heritage instead of Road King but the Heritage does have some benefits over the RK in other areas.

    I have a 2021 Heritage 107, and at 5'10" the buffeting around my helmet at any speed over 100 km/h (62mph) with the windshield on it is brutal. I had the same problem with my previous bike, a 2019 Road King, which I sorted out by cutting the windshield down by 5 inches and adding fork mounted wind deflectors. I may try doing the same for the Heritage, but have also been looking into replacing the windshield with a batwing faring. Anyone have any thoughts/advice on the batwing vice windshield?

  • @davidoakley9387
    @davidoakley9387 3 роки тому +3

    Love my heritage 114, bags do leak but it took over a year for them to start my bike gets left out in the weather most bikes are covered or in a garage so that could effect it, I’m 5’10 and I do get wind buffeting but like you said torso, postures etc. most people change exhaust so it isn’t worth mentioning . Rear shock is fine you can always upgrade tho depending on riding style and the front forks are a wee squishy but what you have to realize is you get a great front light setup, the stock seat is actually comfortable for a good time after purchase but you will upgrade , comes with saddle bags and windshield and has the same motor as a road king special, and it weighs 107lbs less. Snappier , faster , and easily comparable with less weight to a touring bike. I would argue if you don’t want to spend more than 22k on a bike you should pick the heritage over the road king every time.

    I had a 17 streetglide and now a heritage classic 114. I've taken both bikes on long trips and have had a far more comfortable ride on the heritage. One other factor that surprised me was that the heritage seemed to hold the road better when it is windy out. Crossing the plains states i was really thinking I'd get pushed around more on the heritage so was pleasantly surprised. Possibly the fairing on the streetglide caught more wind? The torque of the heritage combined with lower weight made mountain passes fun. The lighter weight in parking lots also helps. the stock headlights are amazing. They look great and light up the entire road. Very expensive items that are stock. The heritage is a rare bike that's comfortable around town or on a long trip. Just a great bike. Btw: items like windshields and seats are always going to be liked or disliked according to height , weight, etc. Easily changed to fit riding style. Thanks my 2 cents.

    I loved my 2018 Heritage, until I totaled it. I took the insurance money and bought a Road King. To be honest I don’t understand why the heritage is made when the Road King has all of the same exact features and the more comfortable chassis with hard bags.I live in Maryvale so it’s a little bit more of a pain in the ass in stop and go traffic. But when I do the Rocky point rally or I go up to Jerome it’s much nicer on the highway. Plus you can add the lower fairings to the crash bar which would’ve definitely helped you out in that rain.

      I just think the Heritage is better power to weight ratio, a little more maneuverable and easier to toss around. I saw his video...Some of his opinions were specific to his combination and individual bike, but the points I agreed with were the fake gas cap, the lack of a second front disk and the added margin. Thing is, it's HDs business model. Build imperfect/incomplete bikes that require customization through their accessories side. Seats are subjective as are windscreens. I'd want a taller windscreen, but I am 6'5 and 34" inseam(I don't care for the blacked out lower part of the screen too). I think the leaking bag is probably an outlier. It's a bike I would consider, but like anything vehicle related, you have to ride it. My only advice to anyone buying any bike or car is get the bike or car that comes closest to what you want and need without have to change much or anything, if that is even possible. Then again, I am more of a function over form person, which would be an outlier in this segment. The bike I would rather start with is a FLHTP or FLHP. 114, 3" travel shocks and RDRS. I don't need an entertainment system or GPS. As long as it has cruise, ABS, handles, stops and goes well, I am good. On top of that, is ride though. I've had 3 fusions and if the suspension isn't up to it, I'm out and next, so it really comes down to a test ride for me. Stay out of the heat on the bike. It's a killer. Rain, I actually ride in it on purpose. Didn't feel that way until I moved here.

      Thanks James, I would ride in the rain but most the time the back and forth to work I just dont want to get soaked if I can avoid it. The heat doesn’t bother me TOO much but I don’t like riding longer than 45 minutes or so in it.

      Gears & Gadgets I have marine grade rain gear like deadliest catch. As far as heat, I’ve done 117, but I weighed more. For some reason loosing a lot of weight changed my temperature tolerances for the worst.

    I agree, the shock is fine. The only problem I have with the Heritage is the fork is way undersprung. It dives like a Pelican if you look at the front brake.
    Styling wise, my only issue with it is they all seem to be finished to look like a rusty ol mess you find behind grampas Ford tractor out in the barn. I can wear out my own shit. When I spring for a new bike, I want it to look new and shiny.

    • @GearsGadgets
      @GearsGadgets  3 роки тому

      Yeah the front fork could have a little more spring to it but I personally dont mind it.

      @@GearsGadgets It's like most anything in life. We get used to things. It's only when we compare things that such things stand out.
      Thing is, I think the Heritage has the most comfortable ride of the Softies when not on the brakes. That's probably what HD was after.
      Doesn't help that STS and I both spend too much time consuming pizza and beer either.

    How comfortable are these Heritage Classics for 2 up riding and longer distance stop?

    • @GearsGadgets
      @GearsGadgets  2 роки тому

      I wouldn't recommend it for 2 up riding beyond local around town / weekend couple hour rides. Anything long distance I would say its not really meant for 2 up. Now in terms of solo riding, I would argue the Heritage is a fine touring bike if you also want something nimble around town.

      @@GearsGadgets thanks for the reply.
      Last bike with costome seats was a yamaha raider. Both enjoyed that bike bit want to go a different route this go around.
      You have any experience with a raider?
      Since we were pretty comfortable on the raider, wondering if we would have the same kinda comfort on a Heritage Classic, or maybe the new low rider st that's coming out. Thanks.

    Took one out then a Road King as well. Road king won but Id definitely ride a Heritage. Harley Scottsdale is probably the best in the Valley too.

    Both videos are very well done. I dont ride a Harley an dont plan on buying one any time soon. But it was nice ta hear both sides of the coin. Me personally, not a fan of baggers but its a nice bike minus the dummy gas cap. PEACE!!!!!

    I traded my 22 Pan America in on a 23 Heritage 120th Anniversary edition and the Pan America had better wind protection.

    I would suspect that anyone who has bought a Heritage will be butt hurt by Shadetree’s review! I was butt hurt by the things Laidlaw said about my Wide Glide, but I got over it! 👍

      lol yeah true. I certainly wasn’t so much butt hurt as I was genuinely convinced for a few minutes that the bike I have put 15,000 miles on might have catfished me and I might own a turd lol. Really his critiques were fair and his presentation is second to none.

      Gears & Gadgets I agree! Shadetree reminds me of an old friend who passed a couple of years ago! Gerry, a hardcore NY Italian that looked like he just killed his parents, 🤣 but had a heart of gold, and like the surgeon, could wax poetic with the best of them! 👍
