Listening to Christopher West speak about Holy Communion and it's relationship with Christ the Bridegroom and His bride The Church, I fell into the thinking that receiving Holy Communion should be saved for after Confirmation in the teens. After now listening to Deacon Anthony talk, as well as currently listening to the Eucharistic talks by Dr. Brant Petri, I am starting to change my thinking about the age of receiving Our Lord in the Eucharist. I had been wanting to hold my children back from receiving Our Lord until they reached the beginning of the age of physical maturity. Now I'm beginning to feel foolish that the RC Church holds back graces to children when Christ was explicit to the apostles when he said: "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them for the kingdom of heaven belongs to those such as these." Matthew 19:14 & Mark 10:14

I grew up in the US and always received under both forms (the Body and Blood), but now I live in Europe, and over here the chalice is never offered. I dont understand why the havent started offering it after vatican II

Question: Does the Eastern Church understand Infant baptism to wash away original sin, or is there understanding different?

@@iliya3110 One of my spiritual fathers, a Byzantine hieromonk (who is also a Byzantine Thomist) says that the Ancestral Sin/Original Sin dichotomy is false. He defaults to the CCC as well as explaining it succinctly.

@@TheBadgerDad_TheByzantineLife sounds like a smart man. The ancestral sin thing is a very modern development mostly coming out of Fr. Romanidies. Orthodoxy before that did not shy away from a more explicitly Latin understanding. The new catechism takes a very balanced approach.
