  • This is what the trail looked like in October 2021.
Millennium Trail & North Shore Bike Path: Lakewood Forest Preserve in Wauconda to Lake Michigan in Lake Bluff, IL. Lake County Illinois. Round Trip

When I research new bike trails to ride I use the AllTrails app (love it!) for discovery and UA-cam to see what the trail looks like. Many times, any questions I may have (What does the trail look like? How well taken care of is the trail? How wide is the trail? Does it look like a trail we can pull a kids trailer on? How does the new detour go? Are there many places to stop? Where does it tend to flood? How does this trail connect to that trail?) can be answered by a simple video like this. Unfortunately there are a lot of trails that I can’t find videos on or they are way out of date. Hopefully this video will help others who may want to quickly see a trail to decide if it’s a good fit for their ride style.

This video is amazing! I would like to do That soon! How long should I warm up to do a round trip like that? 👍🏼

Thanks! You should do this ride but this time of year you won’t get down to Lake Michigan at the beach without paying. You should check out the Green Bay Trail video.. it’s connected to the Robert McClory Bike Path.

@@Cynical_Zombiealso I wanted to know, is that how long should I continue to peddle on my bike if I go that far to prevent from getting tired?

If you have an ebike you don’t have to pedal at all. I’ve met lots of people who have mobility issues and using the throttle on the ebike is the only thing that gets them spending time outside.

What app are you using for maps on your phone?

I use AllTrails for my maps while I'm on a trail navigating. I use AllTrails, TrailLink and Google Maps to plan routes.

I use AllTrails. I couldn't do these rides without it! Last year I started to add the AllTrails map link in the video descriptions so if you like one of my trail videos you can look in the description to see the map for it.

Thanks for the kind words! I've got a channel update coming next week which shows some of the trails I'm looking at for 2022.

Is there a gpx file for this ride that doesn't involve signing up for alltrails?
