    Hey Shawn & Sav,
    I can’t tell you how much this video has helped me feel more positive about golf in general
    Im living proof of the golfer with a natural strong grip from the beginning that’s spent several pounds £££ (I’m from the U.K.!) on golf lessons to be told I need to change my grip to neutral to improve.
    I’ve also always preferred to be set up with the hands slightly higher too and this video is helping me understand why I’ve always liked that feeling with the strong grip
    I’ve recently fell down the rabbit hole of trying to execute mo’s ‘single plane’ swing to no avail.
    The explanation you gave on how it lines up with right forearm and that it’s a bit of an optical illusion has given me much more confidence that I can improve at this wonderful game we play!
    I’m still on the search path to be able control my ball flight but this video has given me the belief I can get there with my makeup
    Thanks for the content, it really helps! Off to watch the video again!

    I was one of the ones who started hooking everything after using a strong grip. I resisted the urge to go back to a neutral grip even though my irons were missing all the greens! I noticed in older videos that Sav was raising her hands at the beginning of her takeaway so I tried it and it was amazing! My irons went higher and straighter plus I was hitting crisper shots and the sound at impact was beautiful. I thought that maybe I shouldn't be doing this because it looks a bit strange but the results were so good I have kept doing it. Thanks for addressing this in this video.

      @@thomasmccauley9607 thank you Thomas! And yes; Sav and Mu have that reputation out there as being the smoothest; they were also deprived of being able to get data from their shots as the organizers did not have the launch monitors available for the lefties and they were not able to use their GC Quads; we were very upset and that put both of them at a clear disadvantage and they both missed getting through by a thin margin of 50 points. I usesd a strong grip years ago that an instructor taught me but gave up on it after I started hooking everything . I think he taught me a similar setup but I forgot it due to lack of playing ( but I remember smoking drives 300 yards wlhen it did work). If you hook it, see about your strain level and if you feel that you are using too much effort, this will wreak havoc with timing and hook it; and it will cause an early release which hooks even more! So you mentioned using a 44 inch driver … once we’re into the 105-110 mph swing speed is having that extra 1-2 inches on the driver not necessary for more distance and dispersion or is it just for more accuracy without much loss of distance just curious.

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  Рік тому

      That is why the GC Quad is so cool; realized my speed was best on the 3 wood and did not get any extra with the driver in my stock swing; so chop chop and now more fairways and same distance.

      In both swings (tennis and golf) the trail wrist is in extension, lead wrist in golf flexed. To achieve this position, using the ‘motor cycle’ move, encourages the wrists to droop into radial deviation at contact. Is Savannah just doing this at the outset, or have I misinterpreted?
      Hope Sav does well in the LD.

    Sav has really evolved! Interesting that you (or Nancy Lopez’s coach back in the day) resisted changing their swings.
    That long driver shaft must really flex, would be interesting to see it in super slow motion:) That said, what is your feeling about shaft flex at impact in relation to heel toe? In other words should the toe be raised slightly at address (for all clubs) to compensate for shaft flex at impact where a flattening of the sole of the club occurs?

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  Рік тому +1

      With the driver and fairway woods, it makes less difference as the sole is rounded from toe to heel and flatter from face to back. The toe will droop and another plus is that the lower the loft, the less it affects the initial direction.

    You two have vastly different techniques.
    You have minimal shoulder turn and are bludgeoning the ball with the right arm hammer method ( Hitting Method as The Golfing Machine calls it..aka Axe Handle technique) where as she is using a pure swinging method with a massive shoulder turn, club past parallel, hands reaching for the sky, then unwinds and just freewheels through impact. No right arm hammering. Just a pure kinematic sequence with passive arms and hands.
    She wraps that club around her neck at the finish. You stop way short of that.
    You are a hitter. She is a pure swinger. 2 vastly different methods with actions that are not interchangeable.
    She is obviously more flexible than you so it makes sense that she is using the swinging method.
    You lack flexibility but have greater strength, so the hitting method is more suitable.

    A year or so ago I started utilizing a very small tweak to the very start of my back swing (Thank you @PaulWilsonGolf) where I emulate a slight dragging motion, almost as though the club is too heavy. This was intended to keep my arms relaxed, and it did(!!). I see this particular video and the lightbulb went off, my little drag also raised my hands slightly, which provided amazing results. I now know why... and it does 2 things for me, it relaxes my arms and also puts the shaft in an ideal location for my body motion. 🤌
