    As a mainly crappie fisher trying to get more into bass, I enjoy the way you say stuff like "you can have baitfish without bass, but never bass without baitfish." Simple thinks that other youtubers forget to mention. Your videos are great, man!

    I cast it. Then slow drag and pop along the bottom. I think Tokyo rig works great on a sandy bottom with sparse weeds. So sensitive you can really feel the bite. Appreciate the advice on mat and punching Good video

    Man I never thought about punching with this thang! I didn't think it would go through the cover good.. makes soooo much sense about the sinker sets on bottom of silt. Great job Gene! I love that you have gotten back to these style of videos.

    Great videos!!!! Tokyo rigs are the real deal. When fish are finicky...I use 4” senko instead of creature and get more bites

    I finally got my first Tokyo Rig fish last week (3 fish actually). It was a smooth sandy bottom lake. I made short to medium casts and dragged / hopped it back. got a 4.5 pounder in the grass. fun day. Thanks for sharing this.

    Thanks for the info! Been applying a lot of the stuff I’ve learned from your videos and have seen great improvement in my fishing game. Never had anyone to teach me these things. Grateful for your channel! Passing it down to my kids.

    Thanks for the Tokyo Rig video, got the hooks, swivels, sinkers, etc.. Month ago and then couldn't find a good video on how to rig and fish it. Taking it to a tournament this coming weekend! 🤞😉😃

    Thank you for an insightful discussion on the Tokyo rig. I made several rigs; however, I've been reluctant to use them because I really didn't understand how to use the lure effectively. Thanks to your discussion, I'll be using the lure with regularity.

    Great video. Grass has gotten thick this summer already. Gunna give this rig a try this evening. Will keep an ear out for "popping matts" 😎 Heard it before and didnt know what it was.

    I don't have a store anywhere near me that carries punch/Tokyo rigs, and I'm going fishing tomorrow so I can't wait for one to be delivered. So I just made my own Tokyo rig out of a 4/0 EWG worm hook, a t-turn 3-way swivel and a straightened out heavy-duty paper clip.
    Opened the eye of the hook, attached one end of the tee to it and closed the eye back up. Then I carefully twisted about 4 1/4" of the paper clip onto the bottom of the tee swivel, added two bullet weights -- one up / one down like you showed -- and then made a little curly-q on the end of the wire to hold the weights on. I'll direct-tie my line to the other tee of the swivel when I get on the water, load up the hook with whatever creatures I have in my box and punch it all through a huge bed of 10' weed grass we have down by our dam.
    Fingers crossed :)
    Thanks for the confidence to try it.

    "Fish 'till you get bit." I've wondered about this for a while.. When you're in search mode (Tokyo Rigging or otherwise), how much does the quality of that 'signal' bite matter? I've read/seen in many places that larger fish tend to be loners or at least they tend to hang with other bigger fish. Do you stop and work an area over thoroughly if that first bite is just a peanut?

    i agree about heavy rods.. i use heavy, but you just have to be mindful of your hookset power. if you tone it down you can definitely get away with it and not snap your rigs.

    I know it's not probably not the right video to ask. I'm looking at fish finders, is a 9inch screen to big for a kayak? I am looking at garmin 93sv and lowrance ti2.

    Question do you always use two weights when using the Tokyo Rig ? 🎣

  • @mikemoultrup9537
    @mikemoultrup9537 5 років тому

    What's the reason for the 2 weights vs. Just 1 big one....and what size were they?

    • @Flukemaster
      @Flukemaster  5 років тому

      Mainly for the shape. It punches through the grass easy and comes out easy.

    To me here,s proof line means nothing, the space shuttle crashes through the cover here and the fish bites, it’s speed and visibility.
