Yes in the 1970's clips, that is Elton's real hair (dyed orange with blue in it). You can clearly see it's receding and if you look at clips from just a year later 1974. it's pretty much all gone. He didn't start wearing wigs as a part of his daily wardrobe until he got sober after 1990.
Not sure why Château d'Hérouville is mentioned as a fresh recording venue. Whatever the problem with Jamaica was isn't explained, but they had already recorded two albums at Château d'Hérouville before Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.
I always assumed the lyrics to Rocket Man were about a functioning addict who is hiding his addiction from his family. Goes off to work and gets high and his loneliness trying to hold it all together.
Jamaica was/is a complete $hithole. They had to find out themselves. Even Marley got out. Performance recording is so much better than the mess ProTools has made of everything. More time is spent on editing and digital tricks than actually learning the instrument.
D Bailey was mesmerizing....the imagery was so clear and the music just epic(to use a very over used term these days). All of YBR was exceptional.
I saw Elton in 1973 on the Yellow Brick Road tour, in Chicago. It was a fabulous and mesmerizing concert and one that I will never forget.
I saw Elton John in the same year in Adelaide, Australia. First and most memorable concert ive ever seen.
the man's music is, TIMELESS.
Totally agree with you, And another gem off the album "I've seen that movie too"
RIP Gus, you were the best and definitely "made" EJ the multi-millionaire he is today. God Bless you.
I wish I had watched this before I took a holiday to Jamaica.
Thanks for posting this. I saw it once before on TV years ago. My favorite album of all time.

This is such an iconic album and my middle brother used to be the biggest Elton John fan and he played this album all of the time back in the day! 👍
The Ballad Of Danny Bailey is one of the most under-rated gems in popular music.
1000% agree
Someone should make a movie about it
My favorite track on the album.
Agreed
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING ELTON JOHN & BAND X

At the 3:50 mark they explain what the problems were in Jamaica.
It is indeed a poster of the master.I was similarly surprised and pleased to see it. ZAPPA is a GOD.
❤
5:55 looks like the band was surviving on massive portions of corn flakes!
Onde está a parte One ?
Were backup singers with them in studio? Don't see any
The backing singers were his band; Davey Johnstone, Nigel Olsson, Dee Murray. These guys were and still are crazy talented.
Bernie makes me laugh. American artists 😂😂😂😂
What? And still we can't view this on moble??
Is this the same documentary that was shown on sky arts in the past year?
David Johnson spoke on that one... he comes from my home town!
IT IS!! He just appeared!
Elton's hair dye job is pretty hideous in some of these clips. Check it out @ 8.15.
Nigel is fucking hot here!
lol

We should send the USA Womens soccer team to Jamaica and leave them there.
Nah, send the Maga maggots
What a big baby you are. They are deep in your little brain. Lmfao!!😂
I'm from the U.S. and I totally agree with you!

Thank goodness we never visited Jamaica 😂
