  • It gets hectic and we don't always see your comments on UA-cam. It's easier to get questions answered on the corresponding article on our website, which you can find here:
    www.thefitrv.com/rv-reviews/e...
This is a much more in-depth walk-through of the new Winnebago EKKO. This is a brand new Class C RV that will be coming out in the spring. And while this walkthrough uses the same prototype we've seen before, we have additional footage of some upcoming changes which will be incorporated when the first units hit the streets. You can't see this stuff at an RV show yet, folks!

Thank you so much for taking the time to do this detailed tour. I absolutely love the Ekko! I especially like the bed arrangement (again, thanks for the thorough look at all the parts with measurements of cabs/compartments). The price is what’s preventing me from having one now...maybe in a couple of years, we’ll be able to find a nice used one. Great video and thanks again to you both for such an excellent tour! Great to find more 'non awning' people! :-)
We do have an awning on our RV, but use it for a maximum of once every 4 weeks holiday. We find it is always easier to just sit on the other side of the RV if you absolutely do want to sit in the shadow.

I found this video and thought there was no way I would watch the entire 1+ hour. But you presented a great balance of facts and opinions, so I watched it all, and then went back to rewatch some portions.
Forgive me if I’m not the first to suggest this, as I didn’t read all 370 comments. Perhaps you could take the middle cushions from your rear twin/king bed set up and lay them on the floor of the lounge area for the third person sleeping arrangement. If the two rear bed cushions are too short, you might even stack the bucket seat booster cushions for another 18+/- inches of bed padding. And if you like to be really fussy about it, one could make a long cover with a zipper (much like a sleeping bag with no padding/insulation) which could cover all these third person bedding cushions, to keep them clean and in place while you move around in your sleep.
    Peace - John

With the insulated curtain you can add 4 ties (2 on each side) where the main curtains meet the top. You can roll the entire curtain up or one side at a time. the ties, or velcro will hold the curtains.

Noted that if a third person in sleeping in pad or cot in front of the 3&4th seats, they could unzip the main privacy curtain, re-zip and step into the cab area (with window curtains up) for some privacy to change, etc. Deep winter conditions might make this either too cold -or very fast.

Had to pause and say I’m somewhat deflated about the garage latches. There’s all this wonderful and voluminous toy storage yet a weak looking lock/latch system. Seems like a big misstep.
I’m not looking for Ft Knox here but come on, those things??? I can’t be the only one who wants to stop for lunch and not worry so much about my 10k mountain bike and other various not-so-pricy items.

I would've liked it if Winnebago had incorporated a Euro Door with a vertical window that has a blackout shade that opens at the top and slides down. Actually, all they need to do is add that window to the existing door. Also, add a fire extinguisher and pockets for miscellaneous items along with a small trash bin, all these items can be added to the inside of the existing door too! This adds to features without sacrificing the doors security element.

Fun and helpful tour/review. What I'd change for certain is to have the freezer outside of the main refrigerator door. It looks like water could drip or run out of the shower into the hallway. Is there anything that keeps this from happening? As for this interior, it's fine but I prefer the interior inside the Ekko you're traveling in. This rig has so many possibilities for camping and traveling. It's definitely on my short list of three possible rigs. You do a good job trying to assure us the table seats are comfortable, but they absolutely do not look comfortable. And of course it all depends on how tall or large you are (or petite and small). Thanks!

We find that our 2007 Winnebago View 23 Bunk-bed model fits our needs, although yes, there are bunk beds for the two of us! A real closet and three drawers, a dry shower (that doubles as a closet), storage over the cab rather than another bed, a real dinette, the "garage" in back that fits two sets of golf clubs, camp chairs, Coleman grill, etc, a spare tire (that we have never used), a hitch that we use for our e-bikes. While it is not 4WD, we have been down many, many Forest Service roads. AND, a very consistent 17 mpg on the little pre-DEF Mercedes diesel. To each his own. Good luck on your new rig!

the two core reasons to get an Ekko are the narrow width and the bike garage. It's a great RV for folks that need those things, not so great for the majority that don't. The View is alot more "practical", comfortable and cheaper for the mainstream user. For us van owners, this Ekko is a big step up in comfort and capability, but doesn't force us into the big dimensions that scare us off a different RV type.

  • @Martin37vg

Don't get too hung up on the cassette toilet. Us in europe are mainly this type of toilet.and with a bit of practice they are not so bad. One tip is if you return from trip and not going on another for a few weeks just leave it for two weeks before emptying..
Another tip is if you emptying on a trip don't get hung up in getting it fully empty. ie shaking the solids out just leave them in the bottom and put more chemical in and get on with trip. They will break down for next empty. Finally don't skimp on chemical as it will not perform its job properly.
Nice looking van a bit like what most us europeans are now using a low profile coachbuilt with a garage. Or not using at the moment due to covid.

How interesting that Winnebago and Advanced RV came out with a near identical concept of an insulated box at the same time. The Advanced B Box appears to be the Rolls Royce version, but like a Rolls it is too expensive for almost everyone. Even the EKKO is expensive, but the B Box makes it look like good value. How could you incorporate a Pull Up bar in or on the EKKO? I always stop whatever I am doing to watch your latest videos, so please keep them coming.

10:55 - I've learned the hard way that you need THE BEST stainless steel tire valve extenders if you don't want leaks and flats esp with duallys. This is a common issue. Ensure the tire is mounted correctly for easy valve access to inside rear tires and take photos for when you will replace them. Buy the high quality extenders. Nothing else is dependable! Words from the wise.
21:16 - Love that water control panel, very smart idea.
24:02 - One improvement I would like to see from all RV makers is a sliding tray for the generator. It needs regular maintenance, and currently there is no way to change a fuel filter without taking it apart completely. Even oil changes and air and oil filters are very hard to access in that cramped location. This needs a design fix.
39:33 - I think this is a Canadian made Nova Kool brand. Winnebago is using their compressor fridges now. Cheaper than both Isotherm and Vitrifrigo brands. I like the spacious interior, but feel the freezer should have a separate door.
41:05 - I really like that muted red countertop with the ribbed aluminum wrapped edges. Nice splash of color. Cool faucet as well. Sink and stove are inadequate.
49:20 - Why pay $300 for a Lagun table made out of MDF and Formica? The concept is pretty simple. Use 80/20 to build the frame and leg. Attach to wall or ground or base of something. The top mechanism is a pair of glides, and a turntable.
52:50 - The curtains. You can make a child's bed there if you swivel front seats facing each other and put a plank and mattress on top. Simply add a second curtain with tracks around the glass windows to insulate. Child will have his own cabin with privacy.
Nice tour, so comprehensive! Thanks a lot guys!

Long story short ,had it towed “ axel caught fire and finally got it back to dealer and they said not their problem and they don’t want involved .winnebago said the same thing and added sorry about your luck you need to call ford .ford towed it to Minneapolis Minnesota I rented a car .cant have parts till next week.so I drove home to PA. Went back when they called that parts were in to be done on Thur.got there in morning, they said wrong axel assembly and won’t bolt up.no idea when new parts will be available so I drove home “again” 2months later and over 2000.00 in out of pocket expenses.I flew back and got my 160,000.00 motor home and ford reimbursed me 728. For my expenses. Laws need to change Ford I realize didn’t profit as much as Winnebago or The dealership that completely avoided any responsibility.

Hey there, they make those in-car inflatable pads that go over the front seats in cars for camping. Leisure Travel Van actually has special mats for their class B RV’s. That would allow 4 people to sleep. 2-3 in the fixed bed, one on the front seats and a small kid on the back seat. Perhaps someone can make a folding bed platform to extend that seat to allow a bigger kid. I think this can definitely sleep 4 inside, as well as carry 4 in 3 point seatbelts. If some parents are handy they probably could also find a way to rig up hammocks across the double seat, thus allowing the people sleeping up front to not to have step over someone sleeping on the floor. If the kids are really small/young they would just sleep up with parents in the big bed. It’s camping, so it’s not much than sleeping all together in a tent.

You guys do a great job. What do you think of the layout of the 24c? Do you know if it has the cassette toilet as well?

Fantastic job! You mentioned ( jokingly) switching out the propane cooktop burners for induction. Would appreciate hearing your thinking on this.

I was a bit harsh in the first review you did with the EKKO. You do a really nice job! I do enjoy both of you and am envious (other than, get a dog :)).
With no black tank--not for us. Yes, I know the 24 comes with it but too large. Thinking National Parks, even the shorter one will not work with GTSR or SEKI-too long. It is a really nice rig for the space and amenities. Do like the 2 propanes. If the smaller EKKO had a black tank, I would consider-even though too large for certain drives in our National Parks.
Love the panoramic from Canada. Wider. Concern with the panoramic (likely best layout) is the promaster-a second alternator is problem as you noted in a different video. Also has no AWD.
That said, will continue to watch-seriously, enjoy the fun you two have.

@@Thefitrv Count me impressed with the Americanizer. And given storage with the EKKO, you can have 2 cassettes. Now you have me thinking. Great job!

QUESTION: in your rear storage measurements do you subtract the shelf width from the other width measurement or add for an overall width? I have a scooter that I want to make sure sits flat on the floor. Thanks!

I am just wondering, if you guys wanna get ride of the propane cooktop (I don't like it either), the only need for the propane tanks would be the quick connect for the outside grill and Truma heating system?? And I personally would not use the outdoor kitchen as well but might get another set of lithium batteries to be off the grid for a very long time. Also wonder why Winnebago doesn't use the Volta system in the Ekko but use it for the Travato. Love the Ekko layout and full 4 season usage.

I'm not sure, for 170k plus taxes, I might have to lean towards a 2021 Power Wagon pulling a 2021 HQ Black Series 17. Toss the LRAM 50 gallon tank and I can have the best of both worlds... the ability to go overlanding / off the grid, and also the upgraded RV comforts with a SICK off road suspension. The Opus 15 is also a wonderful option to tow behind a new power wagon.
