  • HARBOR FREIGHT QUINN VS Snap-on!!! / Which is better? #snapon #harborfreight #tools #tooltest We put these ratchets to the test to find out which one is better. They both did a really good job but we had to pick the winner. We would say the Snap-on was a better feeling ratchet and was a lot smoother then the Quinn. The Quinn wins when it comes to the price but that is about it. Let us know what you thought of this video in the comment section down below. Let us know what you want to see next on our channel.

A good 1/4" test would be which one can take off a nut/bolt the most before you have to use your hands to unscrew the rest. Love your videos btw thats a good lookin handle on that snap on!

I don't dispute the quality of Snap-on, that said, I was in Harbor Freight earlier today and saw the new Quinn ratchets for the first time. I couldn't pass up the 3/8" ratchet: slim profile, comfort handle, 90 tooth, proper directional switch (earlier HF ratchets switch levers were reversed). Excellent comparison video!

Haven’t had an opportunity to try the Quinn as I just got it two days ago. I understand that it is essentially a re-branded Gearwrench, made by same manufacturer.

The older Snap-On stuff; especially their chrome tools IMHO is the best.
The same can't be said about some of their tools; I stripped out a 13mm oval head ratchet wrenche trying to loosen 13mm tie rod sleeves clamps and said toil stripped its gears, had it warranted and its replacement did that same thing.
Used a 15mm Snap-On on wrench and it too killed its gears.
Note this just by my hands; NO cheater was involved.
Likewise a new Snap-On 1/2" swivel head also lost its gears; again no cheater.
My other Snap-On ratchet wrenches were fabulous; the teardrop heads and my original 1/2" ratchet was really good till the swivel separated from the handle.
H-F; bought their 6 piece ratchet wrench for $25 as a gag gift to myself, their 13mm loosened that same 13mm head bolt like an older Snap-On version
Bought their $25 1/2" swivel head and it's still holding up
All of the above new tools were the Pittsburgh line; not icon

Out of my 4 most used/ favorite ratchets, only 1 is snap on. My main 2 are just regular gearwrench 90t "normal" ratchets. 1/4" and 3/8". I have both in snap on but prefer the gearwrench. I absolutely love my long handle, flex head 1/4" snap on. I have a tiny Mac 1/4" flex head I really like and use a lot. I'd say in order I use:
      1, 1/4" gearwrench
2, 1/4" long handle snap on flex
      3, 1/4" shorty Mac flex
      4, 3/8" regular gearwrench.
Realistically, about the only time I use hand ratchets anymore is if milwaukee won't fit or break something loose. While I'm rambling, I have a Pittsburgh and icon 1/4" flex head. The Pittsburgh is thinner, smoother and has less back drag. I had to replace the icon 3 times before I got one that works. I haven't had a chance to use the Quinn yet. I've heard guys say it's the same as gearwrench but just looking at it in the store the finish (chrome) is terrible compared to gearwrench.

If snap on were manufactured in Taiwan they would cost as much as Gearwrench minus the salesman.
Same quality really. We do not live in the 80's anymore. Every country has computer assisted machining now.

Personnaly, I'm a Icon addict but Quinn ain't bad. I love Snapon tools BUT for the same money, I can have one in my tool box, one in the truck, one in the Jeep, one in the ole ladies car, and one in the basement... I think you see where I'm going. It cuts down the number of steps that I have to make to get more less expensive, It's not too much about the money, to me, it's more about which tool will get used? For me, it's the one that's close.

Number of teeth itself does matter where it comes to arc swing but it isn't the only factor, you might get 72 teeth ratchet that has better arc swing and feels smoother than 100 teeth for example. Number of teeth is just a part of ratchet, overall construction, gear slop, design matter in that test, so saying that 90 teeth is better just because it is 90 teeth is nonsense.

@@jimprice8557 the best bet is to wait for the black Friday sales. Everyone sells those $129 kits. Gearwrench has the least amount of filler type stuff and you get a couple of the ratchets. That's pretty much how I discovered them other than the ratcheting wrenches. I was looking for one of those kits to put in a vehicle. It was the best one. Craftsman is junk. The others aren't terrible but have too many random bits and nonsense.
