    Can you dig, the black steel cop rims, on this factory made, street fighting brawler... They put cop rims on these cars, for extra strength. I wonder if they realized how damn cool it looked, too... It screams, I came here to race... no frills, nothing fancy... Just give me my time at the Christmas tree, and I'll let the machine do the rest!

      I'm honestly not a huge fan of the steelies...I dig the American Racings on the '69 Roadrunner my Uncle gave my brother and I when he found out his lung cancer had gone beyond treatment. I think it was more a gesture of him letting us know Grandma/Grandpa will always be with us when that car hits the road and sort of an apology for being a lurking ghost when we went to visit them. He was still a badass Uncle

    To the person that was saying it was 325 net horsepower there. No, we're no power robbers on the engine. It did not have power steering. It did not have air conditioning. And it did not have power breaks. And it came with a 4 speed, so you had no loss in an automatic transformation. And that was actually more than 400 horsepower when they did an actual test on that 6 barrel 440. And yes, those cars ran in the 12. Ronnie socks took one and ran it in the twelves. So there you go you're wrong

      The 440 cubic inch in my GTX is 375 gross horsepower. I don’t know what it is net. I don’t know how you know either. I think your under estimating the gross horsepower of the 6 Barrel car. It was different. Different cam different rods and I think a different type of manufacturing for the pistons. Anybody out there know all the differences between the high performance 440 and the 6 barrel ? You may be right about that car not being stock. I can’t tell for sure but I don’t think he was speed shifting I think he was letting off when he shifted. I don’t think a stock 6 barrel would run in the 12s without being speed shifted.

    • @chadhaire1711
      @chadhaire1711 2 роки тому

      @@danielstephens3805 The 440-6 came in advertised 390 hp gross which is 325 net or earlier ones were 375 gross or 305 hp net...those are FACTORY numbers---THAT is how I know. A 2021 Dodge 5.7 is 375 net. A stock 440-6 390/325 with drag rear gear is 13.8 1/4 mile tops....375/305 a bit less. NO 440 stock ever ran quicker and certainly nowhere near 12's......the cars in these videos are nowhere stock.

      On St. Patrick day 1977 1 month after I got my GTX I got a Chiltons guide for Road Runner Satellite Belvedere GTX still got it. On page 59 it states “1972-73 horsepower and torque are SAE net figures. They are measured at the rear of the transmission with all accessories installed and operating. Since the figures vary when a given engine is installed in different models, some are representative rather than exact.” I have car magazines from 1971 and 1972 that say the same thing. That’s why you don’t know the net horse power rating of my car. Not because your not a smart guy. Your just at a disadvantage because you never laid eyes on it. Is it spinning a power steering pump or not? Clutch fan or fixed blade? Air conditioning or no air conditioning? My brother in law worked in the dyn room at Oldsmobile here in Lansing for 15 years and I would go see him there. I know all about horsepower, torque, SAE net and gross. Guess what. He hated horsepower figures. I asked him why. He said it’s mostly for advertising. It doesn’t have that much effect on how hard a motor pulls or how a car accelerates.
