Hi, took delivery of mine (Aluminium) on 06/04/20 so not had many chances to play but so far, brilliant when I used it in the garden to photo the moon using an EOSR and RF 70-200MM Lens. it has no issue with that weight of RIG. Also on opening, the very top of one of the legs had a small amount of paint missing. I wasn't too worried as it doesn't affect anything apart from the chance of corrosion further down the road but thought I'd let Peak Design know after registering it. Four days later, a completely brand new leg was delivered!! I didn't even need the whole leg, just the top part. Very impressed with the attitude and service PD delivered. I cant
I think the peak travel tripod is pretty cool for not only travel videos but for the studio as well with all the amazing features it has. I like the fact that you can easily open all the locks at once. I wish I could get one. Great job Jeven. That was a great review.
Understandable but if they had to cut the price in half the tripod would not be as solid as it is. I would much rather pay 600 dollars once for a tripod as solid as this one( bought one a bit ago) than 5/6 200 dollar tripods for the next 15 years. It's hard to tell from videos but it is extremely legit build quality.
Decisions, decisions.... Aluminum or carbon! Regardless, carbon fiber will never go down in price but the fact it's lightweight and isn't a rock on your shoulder makes all the difference! Note: white carbon, fire red carbon would be 🔥
this video is 5 months old but your Capture is first GEN. that speaks VOLUMES!!!!! I have that plate mounted to my manfroto plate lmfao! Will probably purchase PD's tripod now that i have enough funds. They are by far my favorite Camera accessory company. I have more than half there bags! Thanks for the great review!

You seemed in a rut based on what you were saying in some recent vids or posts but you’ve got your stride with this video. The 2nd camera and talking to the other in your studio, LOVED that. I bought this PD tripod for a trip because it is the only one I can find small enough to fit my bag and strong enough to hold my camera with heavy lens. It costs way more than my other tripods but I guess being useful is worth whatever the price. Hate the Allen wrench, I lost it the first time using it. The replacement costs $20, ouch, so I now tie it to the tripod with a leather string. Yeah, I have that competitive tripod too, used it one time and gave it away.

I have been looking for the perfect tripod for YEARS!!! I noticed that B&H now sells this and when I get back to work, or live off social media, I will buy this carbon fiber version next. I don't like the twist system at all either. When you are trying to set things up quickly the twist system is a hot mess. Thank you so much for your review, and GREAT intro again.

If you’re willing to spend $600, sure. Worth it. It’s a quality tripod. But my manfrotto was $60. Weighs a pound less. And is pretty compact. Not as much as the PD. But I’ll take it.
Great review. However, you forgot to mention the drawbacks: not convenient for panoramas or panning because of the ball-head only, and some orientation angles when using in portrait mode are difficult to achieve.

People complaining about the price apparently doesn't know the actual prices of professional travel tripods equivalent to this one. Like the Gitzo series 0, RRS, etc. You won't find a tripod this compact, with all these features at this price, period.
Right😂. Im considering the aluminum at $350 and Im not sure the last photography thing Ive bought that was that cheap. I would love a Gitzo but Id be up around $7-800.
Is it possible to use an L bracket with that head or are you restricted to the tiny PD plate? Also, how do you do a panorama? It doesn't look like there is any way to rotate the head. These seem like serious shortcomings.
Super video! And well done, you on that opening. :-) Can you advise me on how the tripod might work (weight-wise) with an A7Sii, a Canon 70X200, and a 7" Small HD motor attached? That's about as heavy as my DSLR builds out. I notice it's rated for 20 pounds...and even with those attached items, I'm under that allotted weight. Curious, though, to see how far you've pushed the weight limit on your tests...as a few on-line reviews mention it being quite wobbly. Also, I understand the head does not pan. Is that correct? I think most of Peak Designs products are excellent but this is way outside of my price range I know it must of a high quality but $599 for a travel tripod I only paid $330 for a Manfrotto Video tripod and Nitro N8 Fluid head
This video appears insincere to me. Who wakes up from sleeping by their tent and starts talking about a review anyway? Lol. But that’s tongue in cheek, I get it, but lame. Anyway, I’m not convinced to buy a tripod by a review that doesn’t even show how stable that tripod is, compared to say, a bargain model. I get not going whole-hog on reviewing a cheap tripod, but this one is a premium tripod and deserves deep probing, which you didn’t do. Just saying. Just my opinions. Maybe you’ll accept that and learn something, maybe you’ll just delete ...
Thanks for the feedback. Didn't include a stability comparison because I don't shoot with big heavy gear. Any travel tripod works for my setup so I'm more focused on the qualities that make a tripod easier to use and what makes it stand out. For this one its the ball head, ease of use and size. Next time I do something like this I'll try to dive deeper into more features

The way i see it, if you're invested into peak design's eco system and want to contribute to the coronavirus relief and climate change, for $600 it's not a bad trade off (between April 7-10) or you pay the price to keep their business going and make amazing products during this pandemic.

Also if the person bought it out of their own hard earned money and we're not just given it by the company. You did not mention whether you bought it or not. Bottom line. No matter how good this tripod is. Or how long it may last. If it is overpriced....and I would say it is. Most people will look elsewhere.

The biggest problem with this tripod is the price. It's too expensive for most people.
It is not for everybody, like not all cameras and lenses are for everybody

as someone using the arcaswiss p0 upside down ball head. The design here is great! its much easier to use a single friction ring vs knobs

You can add a fluid head on it easily. There is an adapter that replaces the ball head. Moment created it

Great tripod. But pricing is out of control I don’t know anyone outside of the youtuber reviewing scene that actually owns a tripod this expensive.
Many landscape photographers have ballheads that cost more than this tripod.
