What a nice song! Instead of making it at 103 in the Top 100 Billboard it should have reached 33 (so it would make Top 40). Thank you, Bob Gaudio & Jack Holmes, for the song. One day it will have the recognition it deserves.
The greatest USA group of all time. Over 200 million records sold. The only USA band that was competitive with the Beatles in the mid 60's. Remember when the Beatles exploded on the scene in 1964. They had a strangle hold on the top 5 songs in the country. But at number 3 was Dawn. That should have been a number one song. As a matter of fact Dick Clark (Amercan Bandstand) was doing a show specifically on the Beatles and showed the top ten board as he always did When he got to Dawn at number 3 he paused and stated that down the road he was going to do a show specifically on the Four Seasons which he did. Those were the only 2 groups that he did special shows about. Then in the Summer of the British Invasion: Rag Doll went to number 1 for 6 consecutive weeks. THEY DO NOT GET THE CREDIT THEY DESERVE! THEY ARE ICONIC AND MADE HISTORY! Thank you Bobby: Frankie: Tommy: Nicky and Joey. RIP NICKY AND TOMMY I LOVE YOUR MUSIC AND EVEN MORE IMPORTANT THAN ME: MILLIONS OF PEOPLE ALL OVER THE WORLD LOVE YOUR MUSIC TOO AS IT STANDS THE TEST OF TIME!
Dennis, you are 100% right on with your comment. Like I say, the 4 Seasons were one of the first band to play and write their own material, while owning the rights and the only band to have a number one hit record before, during and after the Beatles. Maybe some of the 4 Seasons were a little bit older except for Bob Gaudio who was even younger then some of the Beatles and could have had a more youthful appealing look, if that should even matter. Really enjoyed your truthful comment, a huge fan of Americas Band, the 4 Seasons.
Rag Doll was #1 for only two weeks, not six. They sold tons of singles, but not albums. That’s why (in my view) they are often ignored in discussions of great 60s bands. Thankfully Jersey Boys has caused a re-examination of their work.
It seems I have just entered an alternate universe where The Beach Boys never existed. Clearly we all love The Four Seasons, but The Beach Boys were the only ones both rivaling and INFLUENCING The Beatles. Pet Sounds and SMiLE influenced Sgt Pepper, and Gazette is literally a pastiche of SMiLE 🤨

Unfortunately not. It was an interview I heard many years ago that stuck with me. Probably the same interview as the one that Joe Long remembered about the Berkeley Barb and Moby Grape. As with Tommy DeVito, Joe could always be called upon for a humorous anecdote. Thanks David
Where was this in Jersey boys??? So much was missed or out of context in that movie.Very incomeplete four seasons story. Thanks to youtube!!!! the true story.
It was not in "Jersey Boys". Very underrated song from an equally underrated album ("Genuine Imitation Life Gazette" - "GILG" for short) written by Bobby Gaudio and Jake Holmes (same with the Frank Sinatra concept album "Watertown", also compiled by Gaudio and Holmes, and released a year after "GILG"). "Jersey Boys" mostly feature the more well-known Four Seasons (or Frankie Valli solo) hits.

yes, that is obvious---common practice on TV shows of the time---but the Four Seasons could reproduce their sound live almost exactly---especially Frankie---take my word from scores of live concerts
@@anthonycolatrella2438 any recordings of those live concerts you’d like to share???? Not nearly enough live Four Seasons recordings or performance’s out there.

@@razorback9926 Rag Doll went from release to # 1 for 6 weeks on WABC NY. It was also # 1 in Canada for 4 weeks.
@@terrysacravitch8270 I should have clarified. Rag Doll was #1 for two weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, the one most people go by.

Thanks. I never thought I would ever see a live performance of this classic.
Should have been a hit. What harmony. On my college radio show I played it every year.

Quite rare for a Sixties song to take a critical look at divorce. Only other one I can think of is “You Better Sit Down, Kids” by Sonny and Cher.
Oh man this is awesome, from one of my favorite albums, Genuine Imitation Life Gazette, a masterpiece. Thank you
200 million sold yet barely anyone knows some of their best work.
You are so so right and the majority of the work of the 4 Seasons is written by the band.
But thanks to Jersey Boys, almost everyone knows their best work now.
WOW! Live footage of this song!!
That is the recording. They are lip-synching.

Thanks for sharing! The quality seems pretty good from my iPhone. Not too loud either!
Outstanding!
Amazing!
Do you have the rest of the Kraft music show ?
gerry forbes No I don’t, sorry
